Chapter 508 The Cart Before The Horse
Chapter 508 The Cart Before The Horse
As she watched Nick Cage eat in front of her, she busily observed his every move and asked, "How's it? Isn't it delicious?"
Nick really hadn't eaten this kind of food. And surprisingly for him, it tasted good.
When Veronica Parker saw that he did not speak and then took a second bite, she knew that he did like the food. She then urged him, "You can order again."
Nick ate some more.
Veronica asked with a smile, "Isn't it delicious to eat with instant noodles?"
"It's all right."
"Isn't that right? If you want to eat again next time, I'll make it for you."
Nick lifted her noodles with the chopsticks, looked at her, and said, "Don't even think about babysitting."
Veronica gritted her teeth. It was as if Nick had easily read her mind at a glance. She calmly said, "Didn't you say that cannibalism is soft-mouthed? For the sake of making noodles for you, can you let me have a look? Just one glance!"
"No."
At that moment, Veronica really wanted to grab the noodle bowl and pour the noodles to his head.
After all, she didn't have the guts to keep a frown while eating noodles.
After eating, Veronica took the bowl to the kitchen.
She thought in disbelief, 'Nick ate a bowl of noodles!'
Veronica washed the two bowls. When she came out of the kitchen, she saw Nick standing on the balcony. He was on the phone. As she was looking at him, his figure looked darker than the night. She felt cold.
After washing the bowls, Veronica went to the sofa and sat down. She silently hoped that Nick would leave as soon as he hung up the phone.
He won't show her the six kids anyway.
He was already like this, and it was heartless of him not to show them.
And she knew it was because of her refusal.
Upon ending the call, Nick came over to her and whispered, "Let's go."
Veronica was surprised.
She initially thought that Nick would not leave and would even do something to her. Now with Nick leaving, she was surprised because this didn't look like his style at all.
Veronica cautiously asked, "Who made such an important call?"
"Winter Villa."
Veronica missed a heartbeat and asked hurriedly, "Winter Villa? What's the matter?"
Nick replied, "Nothing." Then he went to the door.
Veronica stopped in front of him and asked, "What do you mean nothing? It's all right. Why are you suddenly going back now?"
Nick looked down at her with a deep glow in his dark eyes and mused, "Are you inviting me to stay?"
Veronica's lips trembled and her eyes flashed slightly. Of course, she didn't mean it that way.
Veronica asked worriedly, "Was it, Peter? Is there something I can do for Peter?"
In Nick's deep eyes, she saw Veronica's nervous little face. With a low voice he said, "Even if there is anything, it has nothing to do with you."
Veronica almost lost her mind and asked, "Nick Cage, why won't you let me see my six kids? Why won't you let me know about their whereabouts? What do you mean it has nothing to do with me? They are my kids and I am their mother!"
Nick's black eyes looked at her with aggressiveness.
Veronica stepped back hurriedly, with her back against the door. From where she was, she knew that there was no way out. She watched helplessly as the shadow of Nick Cage came over as if her breathing almost suffocated.
When Nick's angular and handsome face was about to touch Veronica's face, he stopped when the distance between their two faces was only one or two millimeters.
Nick's voice was low when he asked, "Can you have a baby by yourself without my help?" Because of the distance between their faces, she could feel his hot breath on her skin.
Veronica took a deep breath as her heartbeat out of rhythm.
She wanted to refute it, but she couldn't.
Nick forced her to have no way out. It was true that she could not have six offspring by herself. But should she thank him for that?
Nick squeezed her chin, raised it, and forced her to look him in the eye as he said, "You should thank me."
Veronica swallowed hard. She countered, "What's the difference between Mr. Cage having me and selling me? Why do I have to thank you?"
Nick looked down at her and said, "Get out of the way." But as he said this, his thick fingers were still holding Veronica's chin.
It seemed that she put the cart before the horse when she gave way to him.
