"She's going back tomorrow." Nick Cage said.

"No! I want her to be here now!" Peter shouted angrily. "You're so cruel, Daddy. I want to play with Mom, too! "

"If you keep on insisting that, then she won't be there tomorrow." The six youngsters were stricken by Nick Cage's threat and tears started to gather in their eyes.

When Veronica Parker witnessed this, she immediately consoled them and said, "No, Mom will be back tomorrow!"

The children were straightway delighted after hearing what she said.

"Mom, really?" Cathy asked.

"Can we really see Mom tomorrow?" Peter made sure.

"Of course! Mom will definitely be home tomorrow!" Veronica Parker couldn't help but promise.

"Wow! Great! Mom is coming back!" Julie was overjoyed.

"Mom," Josh was so overwhelmed that he wanted to cry and his eyes were already full of tears.

"Dad, Mommy is coming back!" Lily cheered.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Daniel's excited little face flushed.

Well, what else did Veronica Parker wanted to say? Nothing. Nick Cage noticed this, so he turned to the phone and said with his majestic voice, "All right, we're going to eat. That's all."

With that being said, he hung up the phone unilaterally.

After a moment, Veronica Parker realized that she didn't get the chance to express what she wanted to say and she remembered it now. "Anyway, why don't you ask Peter to come over? The helicopter can pick him up."

"Next time." Nick Cage stated with finality on his tone.

Veronica Parker gritted her teeth and glared at Nick Cage. She picked up a barbecue and began to eat instead.

On her first bite, Veronica Parker can attest that she has not eaten such a delicious roast beef in her entire life and that this was only the first time! She doubted that such tender meat was even available on the market.

The interjecting extravagant yet modest kind of life can only be experienced with Nick Cage!

Being occupied in enjoying her food, a peeled shrimp was put on her plate and Veronica Parker was stunned at the gesture. "You don't have to peel it for me," she declared.

"Don't you like it?" Nick Cage's dark eyes looked at her dangerously.

Veronica Parker almost choked on her food when he blurted those words out, and after realizing what he said, she replied, "No, I didn't mean it like that. Your hand is still hurt, and what you are doing does not help in your hand's recovery at all."

"Then, does that mean that you are worried about me?" Nick Cage's voice was mischievously low as his raven eyes pierced through her. "Hmm?"

Veronica Parker avoided his gaze and didn't explicitly say whether she was truly worried or not, but rather, she simply uttered, "It does not feel good to be hurt. "

Nick Cage caught Veronica Parker's dark eyes and stared at it as deep as a pool, and the atmosphere became heavy, which was lifted only not long after another peeled shrimp was put on Veronica Parker's plate. "It doesn't hurt."

Veronica Parker didn't argue further, and instead stuffed her mouth with the shrimp and nodded, "Delicious."

The ambience, which eventually returned to normal made Veronica Parker heave a sigh of relief.

"I'm already full and I can't eat any more of these. Times such as this one makes me hate being small as it also means that my stomach is, too."

"Get up and walk." Nick Cage wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin and said.

"Don't bother to move, I'll go by myself." But before Veronica Parker could even finish her words, Nick Cage tightened his hold on her as soon as he pulled her up.

Not long after, the two of them were already strolling along the beach.

Veronica Parker looked at her hand intertwined with Nick Cage's hand that felt slightly rough and uncomfortable, and she wanted to yank it out of his grasp so bad. But as soon as the thought crossed her mind, Nick Cage tightened his grip so that she could not break free from him.

With his strong and firm hold, Veronica Parker struggled for a moment before eventually giving up on trying to break loose.

On that note, she felt like she shouldn't show any signs of weakness in Nick Cage's presence!

Veronica Parker shouldn't give Nick Cage the satisfaction of winning, but offending this unpredictable man by doing otherwise was also filled with uncertainty. However, no matter how she weighed it, the loss was still definitely outweighed by the gain!
