Chapter 742 Best Foot Forward
Chapter 742 Best Foot Forward
Veronica was drinking water when a knock on the door suddenly emerged. She initially thought that it was Nick but shrugged off the idea since Nick would usually just open the door instead of knocking it.
Veronica hesitated for a moment but eventually got up and opened the door.
She was beyond surprised when she saw Clare standing on the other side. "May I come in?" Clare asked.
"No." Veronica blatantly answered. She knew that Clare is good for nothing kind of woman and there is no way that she would allow her to get inside. "I've heard that you're not feeling well so I came here to see you," Clare responded.
"I'm fine."
"Is that so? But I've heard that you went to the hospital. Is everything really alright? If you're not feeling well, then you should be in the Winter Villa. Aren't you even worried that Mr. Cage left you here alone?" Clare asked, not minding the two maids at the opposite side of the door. "Does it have anything to do with you?" Veronica was about to slam the door.
Clare immediately stuck her foot in the crack of the door to stop it from closing.
The maids at the opposite door came up to check on them. Veronica waved at them in dismissal. "Back off, it's none of your business."
"Well, of course, it has something to do with me. I care about you that's why I'm here. I pity you for living here alone. Are you really okay? It's not something hard to say, isn't it?" Clare asked deliberately.
Veronica could not believe that Clare has the guts to come to her place and complacently tell her all those stuff as if she's not aware of her intentions.
She glanced at Clare's foot stuck indoors. She slowly opened the door without showing any emotion.
Clare looked at Veronica, wondering if she's giving her a hint that she could now come inside and would be willing to talk about her condition. Veronica looked at the confidence in Clare's eyes.-The door was half-open when she decided to slam it shut.
Clare hissed in pain and she immediately pulled her feet from the doorway
"That must be embarrassing but I can't deny the fact that it's pleasing to the eye. I even want to do it again." Veronica looked down at Clare. Clare shrank her feet in fear. She turned pale and glared at Veronica.
"To tell you the truth, this is the first time I've seen someone come straight to my door to hurt their foot. Is that one of your hobbies?" Veronica mocked her.
"I am kind enough to care about you that's why I came here. You're so terrible!"
"Terrible? That depends on the person that I'm dealing with." She sneered and slammed the door. Clare r gritted her teeth angrily and limped away. She swore to herself that she won't do what Veronica did to her pass away.
Her foot was severed that she even has to go to the hospital and have it checked. The doctor said that she had a bone fracture. Veronica made a resolve that she will get revenge on Veronica. After dinner, Veronica didn't stay in the house and looked around instead.
She's starting to get bored and sick of staying in the house all the time.
She could go to the leisure area where people in the community usually take a walk after dinner.
After getting tired of walking for a while, Veronica sat on the bench and stared blankly at a distance.
She thought that she could go to work already in a few days. She was free and she could go wherever she wanted.
