Chapter 37
Without asking further, he sent the address of the hotel where he was staying via text message. I copied the address and used it to buy a gift to send to my dog. Then I texted my dog, asking him to wait for the present I had prepared for him.
"You really mean it, Master?" he asked via voice message. His voice sounded so happy when I said I would give him a present. "Thank you, Master. I will wait for the present that Master has prepared for me." he replied via voice note.
While laughing at hearing his voice that I have not heard in a long time, I played the voice note many times and rolled over on my sofa. Really cute! So cute that I am not willing to give it up to anyone!
I put my smartphone back on the table and cleaned the pack of instant noodles that I had finished eating before throwing it away. Then I cleaned my dining table and took the thermos filled with hot tea that was on the dining table. I poured it into a ceramic frog-motif cup that I always use every time I drink tea. I sat on one of the dining chairs in my dining room (which actually did not mean much considering I live alone) while sipping the tea that I was enjoying right now.
"Hm, tomorrow?" I said to myself, staring at the leaf motifs adorning the teacup. "Actually, why did not I refuse his offer to have dinner together?"
I sighed softly at my question, which I could not answer myself. I played with the teacup for a while before finally I finished the contents of the cup, and refilled it with the hot tea in the teapot. I kept repeating it until the contents of the teapot ran out, and I immediately went to the kitchen to wash the teapot and cups that I used earlier. After that, I walked to the balcony of my apartment, enjoying the view of the night sky filled with stars in the sky without being accompanied by the moon.
I remember the time he took me to the hill. The scenery on the hill looked so beautiful, especially when I was not alone enjoying the view. It feels like whatever I do now makes me think of my beloved dog.
"Hurry back, please. I miss you so much, Dominik..." I sighed, leaning my head against the balcony wall. My eyes remained fixed on the stars that decorated the sky while my body began to shiver with cold. I ignored my body, which was shivering with cold because of the increasingly cold night air. My loneliness from not being able to be with my beloved dog was much stronger than the chilly air that was now chilling.
After a while, I finally went back inside. I gave in to the colder night air and closed the balcony door. I rushed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face, then I put on skincare before going to bed.
After that, I walked towards the door of my room and entered my room. I pulled the blanket on top of my bed and used it to cover my shivering body. Immediately I jumped on my bed and lay down there.
"It is cold. Shit. Even though I still want to stay outside for a long time." I cursed as I returned to make sure the blanket I was wearing was enough to cover my still shivering body. I closed my eyes forcefully, hoping that after I go to sleep I will not be cold again. Finally, after a while, I began to fall asleep fast.

In the morning, I opened my eyes. I got rid of the blanket that I used to cover my body which was cold last night, and dropped it on the floor just like that. Slightly lazy, I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I looked at my face, which looked swollen, and my two eyes were still sleepy for a while before I washed my face with cold water, which immediately made my drowsiness disappear instantly.
After that, I came out of the bathroom to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I took the peeled white bread that was in the refrigerator. My eyes then glanced at the marmalade in the refrigerator.
"Should I just buy strawberry jam? Why should I buy marmalade? If only durian can also be made into jam ..." I complained, taking out the marmalade from the refrigerator. I then took my breakfast menu to the dining room and put it on the dining table. My hands dragged the dining chair and sat on the chair, then took a piece of white bread and spread as much marmalade as possible before I piled it with white bread which I took back from the package.
I was enjoying my breakfast at this time. It was because today is a holiday, so I did not have to rush to finish my breakfast. My brain is busy thinking about what to wear to dinner tonight and what to do when he comes to my house later.
But does he know where my house is? I wondered, wondering if Harris was really going to pick me up or not. Maybe he will ask it by text later, I thought as I finished my breakfast. I put the rest of the white bread and marmalade back in the refrigerator and wash my hands in the kitchen. After drying my hands with a towel, I rushed into the living room and took my smartphone, which was still there.
I then opened my smartphone to check the clock, which was currently 8:30 A.M. My eyes then switched to my smartphone notifications. Two missed calls and two WeChat messages from Dominik. I widened my eyes and immediately opened the message.
Morning Master. Did you sleep well?
Master? Are you still sleeping? Can I call you?
I bit my lower lip while closing my eyes, holding back the joy of the message from my dog. I did not reply to his messages and called him right away.
"Hello?"
"Thank you, my beloved dog."
"Thanks for what?" he asked. His voice sounded confused when he asked the reason why I thanked him.
“For sending me messages in the morning." I said, clumsily playing with my still messy hair.
"Oh, about that. Well, it is no big deal. You must have just woken up, right?"
"Yes. My dog is the best!"
He sighed softly at the compliment I directed him. "I want to finish it quickly and go home. I miss my Master."
"Yes, I also miss my dog. I want to play together with you again." I said, removing my hand from my hair. "Okay, I will hang up the phone first. Don't forget to have breakfast."
"Leah?"
"What?"
"I love you."
"I love you too." I replied before I hung up the phone. Then I opened the music application, which I usually use to listen to songs, and played Marcus Chang's song, Lose to You. The song was the ending song for the Taiwanese drama Lost Romance which is now my favorite drama. I turned up the volume and put my smartphone on the chair. I lay my body on the sofa chair that I sit on, closing my eyes, enjoying the song I listen to right now.
