Let Me Go
Three days ago. Nicholas was sitting in an executive lounge inside the airport. In an hour, the plane will take off for the Maldives. While waiting, he chose to read the news of stock developments from behind the tablet he was holding.
Not long after, Nicholas's cell phone rang. An incoming message has just been received from the woman he loves.
Kimberly : [I have arrived at the office. It's been a while since I've been apart. I already miss you.]
Nicholas smiled subconsciously, reading the message. Kimberly is indeed different from most other women. She is indifferent, aggressive, and never shy about expressing how she feels. When asked what makes Nicholas happy now, the answer is only one, 'Kimberly.' Only that woman is currently able to restore color in her life.
Nicholas : [I must miss you too. Now work fast. Complete all the tasks I gave you. I won't hesitate to cut your salary if the deadline is not finished soon.]
Kimberly : [It's true that at times like this, you scold me.]
Nicholas : [I'm just reminding you, so you don't forget. I also never tire of reminding you never to be behind my back, especially when I'm away.]
Kimberly : [Don't worry, Mr. Alistair. After all, no one would ever dare to disturb the fiancé of a 'Lion' like you.]
Nicholas laughed. He didn't expect her to equate him with a lion. How scary had she been all this time? Somehow at first, after finishing sending short messages to Kimberly, suddenly Nicholas looked back at his cellphone screen. Browse through the list of contacts there, then decide to contact someone.
"Hello, Mister..." said a man on the other side.
"Ran, as long as I'm not around. I'll leave Kimberly. Please watch her movements. I'm just afraid Edward will disturb her while I'm gone."
Nicholas ordered Randy to his private chauffeur. The man can be relied on as long as he is not in Indonesia.
"Okay, Mister. I will give you any reports regarding Miss Kimberly's activities during your absence," said Randy with certainty.
"I've always believed in you. Ah, yes. If other employees dare to harass her after my trip business, don't hesitate to take photos as documentation. I'll check it out when I get to Los Angeles."
When Nicholas isn't around, Randy does what he's assigned. Somehow, the man could take a picture of Edward taking Kimberly to lunch. When Marco visited Kimberly to the office and the apartment, both moments did not escape Randy's attention. The man was quite skilled at carrying out the tasks given. When Nicholas came home, right at lunch break, Randy immediately visited his boss's office. He seemed ready to submit a report on what was assigned to him these days.
"Would you like to hand something over?" Nicholas asked as Randy was standing tall in front of him.
Randy nodded and took a step forward. His hand reached out to hand Nicholas a brown folder. "Mister can check it. I purposely printed it to make it more clear."
Nicholas grabbed the map that was handed out. "I'll check it out. You can leave now."
Randy nodded respectfully and left Nicholas's room. In his seat, Nicholas carefully pulled out, one by one, the pictures that were on the map. At first, it looked normal because there were photos of Kimberly talking to Edward at the top of the pile.
However, things take a 180 degree turn when Nicholas finds a photo that manages to trigger his emotions. There are pictures where Kimberly holds hands and even hugs another man tightly. Nicholas stared at the photo in his hand for a long time, remembering who the man with Kimberly was.
Then it wasn't long before he started to remember. So the man who met Kimberly several times was her boyfriend?

In the morning, when she opened the bedroom door, Kimberly found the apartment is empty. She then brought her feet to Nicholas's room, intending to take time to explain and clear up all the misunderstandings last night.
But when tapped, there is no response. When checked, the door to the man's room was also unlocked, indicating that the room owner was not inside. Not wanting to waste time, Kimberly chose to go down to the lobby. There, as usual, Randy was waiting to drop off.
"Where's Mr. Nicholas?" asked Kimberly when she got into the car.
While driving the vehicle, Randy answered. "Mr. Nicholas has already left earlier. He took his private car."
Kimberly nodded. She believed that Nicholas was deliberately avoiding and chose not to meet her. Anger still enveloped the man.
I have to finish all of this quickly.
This problem cannot be dragged on.
Nicholas could misunderstand even more.
Arriving at the office, Nicholas was very busy. There is a work deadline that must be completed today as well. Edward and several other division heads were seen taking turns entering his office. Not wanting to disturb, Kimberly chose to finish her work. However, before starting, she took the initiative to make drinks for Nicholas and the other work partners.
Walking to the pantry, Kimberly prepared several cups of coffee. With determined steps, she carried a tray of drinks into Nicholas's room a moment later. Knock on the door twice, then enter. From afar, she had seen that Nicholas was serious about other co-workers. Discuss with each other while constantly chasing the time to complete the work on time.
Not wanting to waste time, Kimberly quickly approached to serve the drink she had brought. A few steps away from the guest table, Kimberly's heels accidentally caught on the carpet until she lost her balance.
Unfortunately, the drink she brought spilled and accidentally wet the sheets of paper arranged on the table. Nicholas immediately got up. His eyes flashed sharply at Kimberly. The next second, something Kimberly never imagined happened.
"Oh my gosh, Kimberly!" cried, Nicholas. "What are you doing?" he exclaimed then. His voice was rising.
"S-sorry, I didn't mean to," Kimberly replied, annoyed. She even looked scared while cleaning up the coffee spills on the carpet.
Nicholas clenched his jaw tightly. "What did you say? Sorry? Did you know that you just destroyed an important document to be delivered this afternoon? Who asked you to deliver drinks anyway?" Nicholas was so overcome with emotion. The veins in his neck appeared to be popping out.
"I'm sorry. I-I'll take responsibility." Kimberly's voice sounded hoarse. She struggled to keep herself from crying in front of Nicholas.
Edward, who had been watching, also got up and walked over to him. "Nicholas! Could you stop it? That's not how you treat a woman," Edward protested. The man pulled Kimberly to stand behind him.
Nicholas sighed harshly. "Can't you see what she's doing? That woman can ruin our work---"
"Nicholas, please forgive me," Kimberly interrupted. She was still trying to beg forgiveness.
Nicholas shook his head. "I'm sick of seeing you. Quickly get out of my room. Don't ever show your face in front of me again," he shooed away.
Not wanting the problem to get any longer, Edward led Kimberly to the door. "You'd better go first. Nicholas isn't in a good mood right now. I hope you don't take everything he says to heart."
Kimberly just nodded. With unsteady steps, the woman left Nicholas's room. After all, there was nothing she could explain when things were heating up like this. At her desk, Kimberly could no longer hold back her tears. While wiping tears, she chose to tidy up his things and then left. The woman decided to immediately go to Nicholas's apartment by using an online taxi. There, Kimberly quickly grabbed the suitcase.
Include all his belongings without exception. After making sure nothing was left, Kimberly's eyes fell on the engagement ring. Still, in tears, she reluctantly opened it and put it in the drawer. She was slipping a small note that he deliberately put beside him.
Maybe after this, we won't see each other again, Nicholas.
Before actually leaving, Kimberly grabbed her cellphone and called Marco to pick him up immediately. It didn't take long for the man to arrive finally. While looking at the entire apartment room, Kimberly made up her mind to leave immediately. Leaving a place that gave so many fond memories for him.
"Are you sure about your decision to return home now?" Marco made sure again. He was surprised that the woman suddenly called him and said he wanted to go home. Kimberly nodded wearily. His eyes were so sad.
"I'm pretty sure," she whispered. "But first, take me to the hospital. I have to visit grandpa," Kimberly asked later.
Marco agreed to Kimberly's request, and he then drove his car to visit Arthur first. Arriving at the hospital grounds, with unsteady steps, Kimberly headed to the room where Arthur was lying. When he finished visiting and making sure Arthur was okay, he ran out of the room. Believing that something had happened to Kimberly, Marco pulled the woman to sit first on the waiting chair available right in front of Arthur's room.
The woman was silent for a long time. Then not long after saying anything, Kimberly started crying again. Pouring out all the sadness that he felt. She was making Marco, who was beside her, stare worriedly.
"What's wrong? why are you crying like this." Instead of stopping, Kimberly was getting hysterical, making Marco even more confused. "Oh my, Kimberly. Could you stop it? I'm sorry. Please don't cry like this." the man then pulled Kimberly to lean on his chest. Provide a place for the woman to spend her stock of tears. "I'm sorry, whatever happened to you, let me apologize." Marco tightened his embrace until Kimberly gradually calmed down. "If something's bothering you, you can tell me, Kimmy. Remember you have me." Marco said as he continued to gently stroke Kimberly's hair, flowing freely.
Kimberly took a deep breath. "I want to go home. Take me right now."
Marco agreed. The man then led Kimberly to stand up. Just a step forward, suddenly, for no reason, Kimberly collapsed unconscious. Marco immediately lifted the woman's body and took her directly to the emergency room.
"What is going on with you, Kimberly?"
