The Break Up
×KENZIE×
My phone had died while still in the park, I knew Axel was probably pissed off with me.
But after what Wyatt had said to me, and my realization, I couldn't just leave Wyatt alone.
"Come on, Wyatt." I shoved him into his hotel room.
"You're coming in?"
I hesitated, glancing down the hall toward the room Axel was in.
When I turned back to Wyatt, he looked so hopeful, "Yeah, I'll come in." I couldn't find it in me to say no.
I followed him in, shutting the door behind me.
"Can you get into bed? I'm tired, I really need to get to sleep."
"You're leaving?"
I sighed, "I'll get you into bed and then I'm leaving."
Although his speech was better, he was still a bit shaky on his feet.
I followed him into the bedroom and stood against the wall while he sat down on the edge of the bed.
He struggled in an attempt to take his shoes off.
I huffed and went over to him, helping him get his shoes off.
He took his shirt off, breaking a few buttons.
"Okay, go to sleep. I need to get to sleep, I can't babysit any longer."
He laid down but held out his hand, "Stay."
My heart was aching. I knew I should leave. I needed to sleep because the next day was not going to be fun.
I planned on telling Axel that I wasn't ready for our relationship.
It wasn't fair of me to be with him when I couldn't give him what he wanted. I still had a silly crush on Wyatt.
"Bubbles."
I sighed and kicked off my shoes before getting onto the bed beside Wyatt.
I kept a distance between us but he turned, draping an arm around me.
I sighed when I heard him snoring.
Why was I doing this to myself? I knew that nothing could ever happen between the two of us again.
Wyatt would rip my heart to shreds, and I wouldn't be able to handle that.
I glanced down at him.
{PAST}
Wyatt's hands were on my bare waist, looking down at me in surprise.
"Say that again."
I kissed him softly on his lips, "I want you, Wyatt."
It was as if my words changed something within him.
He lifted me in his arms and I wrapped my legs around him tightly.
He carried me into the bedroom where he set me down on the bed.
I could see the lust in his eyes when he looked at me.
"Kenzie, I need you to be sure about-"
"I am sure, Wyatt. I haven't been so sure about anything in a while."
He undressed slowly and there was something about his movements that made me want him even more.
I reached for his hand, pulling him down to the bed with me.
"I want to make this good for you." He said, bringing his lips to mine.
I was impatient, I didn't want him taking his time.
I kissed him passionately, running my nails down his back which caused a shiver to run down his body.
I wrapped my legs around him and he slipped my underwear aside, sliding into me.
"Oh, Wyatt." I moaned.
{PRESENT}
I gasped as I woke up from the dream I was having of the night I spent with Wyatt.
"Are you okay?"
I glanced over to see Wyatt standing in the doorway to the bathroom. His hair was wet and he had nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.
The water glistened on his chest making him look delectable.
I swallowed hard, trying to rid myself of these thoughts, "Um, just had a weird dream."
He smirked, walking over to the bed, "Just a dream?"
I nodded, but the heated blush creeping up my face was doing nothing to help.
"Are you sure? You were moaning my name."
My eyes widened and I dropped my face into my hands, "Oh my God. Kill me now."
Wyatt chuckled and I felt the bed dip under his weight as he sat down on the bed.
I lifted my head and looked over at him, "Forget it, please."
His hand caressed my face, "Kenz-" There was a loud knock on the door.
Wyatt sighed and got to his feet, leaving the room.
I groaned and threw myself back onto the bed.
"Why am I doing this to myself?"
"Kenzie?!" Axel's annoyed voice called out.
"Shit!" I sat up just as Axel stormed into the room. He looked extremely angry.
"I can explain."
He raised his brows, "You can? Because to me it looks pretty self-explanatory, Kenzie. You spent the night in your boss's bed."
"Nothing happened," I got to my feet, "Axel, I was tired. He was really drunk and I fell asleep."
"Bullshit! You had no reason to be here. You are his fucking assistant! That's it!"
Wyatt walked into the room, "Tone it down, cowboy."
"You stay out of this!" Axel was seething.
Wyatt sighed, "I will, as long as you stop screaming at her."
Axel turned to him, "She's my girlfriend, and here she is fucking you! For what?!" he spun back to me, "Are you that desperate for a job that you'll whore yourself-"
Wyatt's fist connected with Axel's face. Axel hadn't been expecting it and he fell to the floor.
"Stop it!" I put myself between them and helped Axel to his feet.
"I need to speak to Axel alone."
Wyatt glared at both of us before walking out.
"Axel, I'm not lying. Nothing happened between us last night or this morning. I promise you that."
He looked down at the floor, "You know, Kenzie, I like you a lot. But I can't do this. He's your boss, you need to put our relationship first."
I sighed, "I don't think I can do that. Wyatt is my boss, but we go way back. He also didn't need to hire me, so I owe him...I'm sorry, but I think that it's better if we don't do this. I don't think I'm readforfo a relationship and it's not fair to you."
"So, I'm telling you that it's me or him, and you're choosing him?"
"I'm not breaking up with you so that I can be with him. I'm breaking up with you because-"
"Save your breath." He pushed passed me angrily.
I sighed and sat down on the edge of the bed. I felt terrible.
