Possessive much
Her heels clicked against the granite floor as Evelyn descended the stairs while clutching her purse and headed to the car.
Reaching the gates, she was welcomed by a grumpy Hunter who was standing while holding the door open for her. Evelyn decided not to rebel this time as she already raised roofs with her ear-piercing scream. It was because the moment she stepped out of her room, she was greeted with judging eyes which meant everybody was aware of it.
Climbing inside the car, Hunter rounded to get to the driver seat. Evelyn expected Dylan in the car but there was no one inside. Hunter, on the other hand, pressed the gas and kicked off the car.
He glanced at the rear-view mirror and did notice Evelyn who was throwing surreptitious glances at him but he deliberately ignored her. The man held no rights because she was his Madam but he couldn’t help but be mad at her.
Evelyn saw him ignoring her so she decided to break the ice. She cleared her throat and scooted forward.
“Uhmm, good morning, Hunter.” She enthused but her smile dropped as Hunter only gave her a curt nod.
“Where’s Dylan? I mean we have a meeting so I insist that we both should go together. You know it wouldn’t give a good impression if we arrive separately. That would serve as a hot topic for the media and I have already stirred enough troubles.” She chuckled, trying to lighten up his mood.
“You don’t have to worry about that, Ma’am. Boss has everything in control.” Hunter replied to her this time but in a strident tone.
Evelyn turned silent. His cold behavior was hurting her.
“I was just saying-”
“That’s the problem, you only say,” Hunter snapped at her, he was done being polite and lowered the honorific wall to confront her.
“You speak without even thinking. Boss was out the whole day. He was worn out but hearing your scream, he rushed to you. But I stopped him because then you would blame him for breaching your privacy. Do you know Boss listened to us, he only knows how to exercise control, he never listens to someone but for you, he stepped down and did what we said to him. The man got ready hastily and without even eating anything went to your door to ask about your well-being. But you are you.” Hunter argued and huffed.
Evelyn fisted her skirt. Her jaw tightened.
“You have no idea what is going on with me. I know I did wrong but I have my reasons.”
“Who doesn’t have Ma’am?” Hunter questioned, “We all know that you’ve been through a rough patch and I truly sympathize with you. But that doesn’t mean you will put Boss in the dock for anything even when he is not at fault.”
“Why can’t I?“, Evelyn snarled. She had enough of being called the bad guy.
“Since he returned to my life, my nightmares started which I never used to have. Yet he is persistent despite knowing that he is the reason why I am beset with troubles.”
“He never asked Ryan to go after you. Do you know what would have happened if he was alive? He was going to ruin you. Yes, he was a bastard but he was ten times more powerful than you Ma’am.” Hunter shot back. It was the truth.
Evelyn scoffed and shifted her gaze to the window.
“So? I don’t owe him in perpetuity just because he saved me from Ryan and Miller. I also left behind the grudges and decided to see his face. That’s it, I am no more indebted.” she said and rolled her eyes.
Hunter shook his head and shifted his attention to the road.
‘It would take years if I start counting the favors Boss did on you, Ma’am. He is the reason why you are breathing or you would have died two years ago.’
Hunter and Elijah were the only ones who knew about it. Dylan trusted them the most so he assigned them the tasks of keeping Evelyn safe and making sure she is not having trouble. With Maria Estates soaring in the sky, Evelyn became the headwind for many famous names who were the rulers of the business world. They wanted to wipe her out as she was a prominent threat who could overthrow them. But with Dylan on her back, the man turned the tables and wipe them out from the face of the earth, making sure to give each one a painful death for even thinking of harming his wife.
And his two accomplices during those deadly missions were none other than Hunter and Elijah.

“Good morning, Ms. Clarke,” Mr. Dominique Blanchet welcomed Evelyn with a beautiful smile.
Dominique was a renowned figure in Paris. He was the owner of Goldenbeau, the finest and best wine brand in Europe. He even owned many hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, and casinos which made him the perfect candidate for becoming Evelyn’s business partner.
Evelyn greeted him with the same empressement and shook hands with him firmly while scouring the crowd to spot someone special.
“Mr. Black,” Dominque addressed as he looked behind her startling her. Evelyn quickly turned behind. Her heart skipped a beat.
The Mafia was dressed in an impeccable black suit, his black hair was jelled and combed perfectly. His eyes were covered in black shades but Evelyn knew that he was staring at her which was enough to give her goosebumps. Not to be rude, Evelyn let out a strained smile. She expected him to greet her but poured water on her hopes as Dylan simply walked past her and stood beside her.
Evelyn looked down. That stung badly.
“Mr. Blanchet,” his thick baritone grabbed many hearts. The women in the crowd swooned over his masculinity and his sizzling hot looks. They shamelessly eyed his rugged muscles which flexed as he shook hands with Dominique.
Evelyn noticed it. She didn’t want to admit but a weird feeling erupted inside her stomach watching them ogling him as if he was a meal.
Was it jealousy?
Her expression turned grim. Stifling her anger, she lifted her gaze to Dylan who unlike her was becalmed.
The two men after having a brief conversation headed inside the building. Evelyn followed their trail.
Arriving at the lift, Dominique pressed the call button. The metallic doors opened, Dylan was the first to enter followed by Dominique. Evelyn was about to go inside when a blonde girl bumped her shoulders and quickly stood beside Dylan. But it didn’t end there. Soon, people come in droves and entered the lift since no one wanted to miss the chance to stand beside the Greek God.
Evelyn fumed in jealousy. She glared at the mannerless bitches who didn’t bother apologizing to her and insulted her right in the face. That was a huge blow to her ego.
She stepped back. There’s no way she would stand beside them.
“You can use the other lift, Ms. Evelyn.”
Evelyn craned her neck and looked with dipped brows only to see a handsome man staring at her with a sweet smile. He was dressed in a beige three-piece suit and had dirty blond hair just like his father. His baby blue eyes were gazing at her softly while there was a subtle smile on his face.
Evelyn smiled at him. He looked cute.
“Hi, I am Theodore Blanchet.” He introduced himself and extended his hand to her.
“Evelyn Clarke, guess you already know me.” Evelyn chuckled and was about to shake hands when someone pulled her back leaving the duo staggered.
Evelyn looked up only to see Dylan glaring at Theodore who looked equally confused.
“Let’s go.” He spoke curtly and without waiting for her reply dragged her to the second lift which was empty.
Evelyn was gobsmacked. She turned around and glanced at Dominique, Theodore, and the other women who were staring at them with slack jaws.
Great.
