Welcome to my Dark Side
“Don’t mistake my silence as my kindness,
It’s just a cloak to hide my demons.”
Evelyn
“How could you?”
Words flew out of my mouth before I knew it.
Hunter is a traitor? I can’t believe it.
Hunter deciphered the disappointment in my shocked expression as without saying anything he dropped his gaze to the floor but what hurt me was that he didn’t lower his gun.
The man used to worship Dylan. The memory of him fighting with me when I slapped Dylan was still vivid in my head. He had so many times tried to change my mind and requested me to understand Dylan. He was so hell-bent on uniting us then why is he helping Xander? Why changed sides now?
Xander on the other hand sashayed towards me prompting me to take a step back.
“This is wrong Xander and you know it ” I spoke with clenched teeth and looked to my father for help only to corroborate my belief that I was barking up the wrong tree. He had chosen his side and there is nothing I can do to change his mind. Xander on the other hand didn’t even bother answering me and continued marching towards me like a predator waiting to pounce on its prey.
“Dad, what’s the matter with you?”, I couldn’t help but yell, “He is threatening me with my private snaps, and yet he is the hero in your eyes. I am your daughter, Dad.” Tears rolled down my cheeks. My confidence has imploded watching their cruelty.
“I will do anything to save you. Hate me all you want but I would never let you dive into that madness again.” Dad spoke flatly, his eyes bearing no emotion. Scouring for help, I turned to Mom who was held back by the officers. She also had tears in her eyes because neither of us had any idea what they were up to.
A violent jolt of terror surged through my body when my back collided with the wall. I didn’t even realize it but before I could escape, Xander pressed his palm above my head and the other beside my waist and leaned down to me.
I looked into his eyes which were deprived of warmth. That friendly and loving expression that never let the hope in my heart dwindle, making me believe that I have still someone by my side who cares for me was nowhere in sight. All I could see was an evil, stubborn and despicable man who was enjoying my vulnerability.
“You can’t do this. I won’t let you,” I gritted and fisted my skirt in apprehension when he threw me a diabolical smile. But the moment something cold grazed my chin, my heart stopped. With scared and curious eyes, I dropped my gaze only to find a gun in his hand.
Panicked, I tried to push him away but he jabbed it a bit harder in my neck making me yelp.
“You’re in no position to threaten me, Eve,” snarling, Xander lowered his head. I closed my eyes when his hot breath fanned the skin of my lips. It made me both nauseated and frightened to the bone. But Xander didn’t like me shutting down myself from reality as he growled in my face.
“Open your eyes,” he commanded but I didn’t concede.
“OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES!!!”
He shouted all of a sudden drawing a scream from my mouth. But that didn’t stop there because the next moment, he grabbed my face in his right hand, digging his nails into my cheeks.
“You are mine Evelyn,” Xander broached on my face leaving me shell-shocked. A fat dollop of tear slipped my left eye as I couldn’t believe that the Xander whom I had known all these years was manhandling me.
“You deserve to be my wife, you belong to me, ME!! Enough of the charades, enough of the good act, it isn’t working on you. So, let me make it simpler for you. We will be marrying in two days.”
My heart sank to the pit of my stomach.
“N-No,” I tried showing some opposition but his brutal hold on my face pinned me on the spot. I choked on my sobs while tears kept drenching my face but no one came to my rescue. Mom stood helpless, crying and regretting helping him while Dad remained rooted in his decision. I looked at Hunter. He didn’t look up but I managed to see his clenched jaw.
That hit me.
Is he being threatened? Or is something wrong with Dylan?
Suddenly Xander released me and cupped my face in his hands breaking my chain of thoughts. I looked at him confused when he pulled me towards him with a jerk. I gasped and held his wrists but he flushed me to his body and glared into my watery eyes.
“Don’t provoke me Eve to show you my bad side. Just obey and do as I say. You’re just misguided but trust me you will thank me later.” He spoke earnestly. But his words pushed me to the edge.
I harshly jerked his hand away and slapped him hard. Xander was taken aback and taking advantage, I pushed him away and ran upstairs before anyone could stop me.
End of Evelyn’s P.O.V.
Xander remained frozen, he was too stunned to react but soon rage pulsated his veins. Evelyn slapped him not once but twice that too in front of everyone.
Heaving a low growl, he turned his blood-red eyes towards Evelyn who was running with all her might. Her sobs and faltering but fast footsteps echoed in the mansion. Everyone was too shocked to react that no one stopped her and kept gazing at her until a loud thud followed as she slammed the door shut.
Michael who had his eyes fixated on the first floor was harshly turned around and before he could understand, Xander jammed his fist on his jaw, unleashing his wrath.
Hunter swallowed his rage watching his father coughing blood. His hands itched to help him but he couldn’t even move an inch and just glared at Xander who walked past him and rushed upstairs with heavy steps.

Evelyn quickly locked the door and plastered her back on the wall. She covered her mouth with her palms while loud sobs raked her body.
She was terrified out of her wits. It was a bad decision to come home unannounced. She thought she could handle it but the tables were turned. But she can’t be blamed because Xander wasn’t someone to doubt. Evelyn had never imagined that her best friend would one day turn into her biggest nightmare.
He just threatened her to marry him? Like how could he even do that to her?
Moreover, her father? She brought him home because she was guilty and here, he was abetting the man who took her intimate pics without her permission. All the fingers were pointed at her and taking the leverage, Xander was harassing and threatening her.
What was even going on?
Suddenly there was a loud bang on the door. Her heart almost burst out of her ribcage as she quickly peeled herself away from the wooden door and stared at it horrified.
“EVELYN!!”
Xander roared from the other side and again swung his fist on the door. He repetitively pounded his fist and when she didn’t open, his anger reached its peak and he kicked it open.
Groped with fear, Evelyn sprinted to the washroom when there was a loud crash. She screamed out loud while Xander tromped over the broken door and stormed inside her room. His nostrils flared; his eyes intoxicated in fury. His dark and monstrous apprentice threw her courage out of the window. To save herself, she tried to run away when her forearm was grasped in a tight grip and the next moment, she was thrown to the wall.
Evelyn whimpered as the impact knocked the air out of her lungs. Writhing in pain, she tried to maintain her balance when Xander coiled his fingers around her dainty neck and pinioned her on the wall. Her eyes bulged out of her socket as he towered over her and glowered at her.
“Just because I love you that doesn’t mean that I WILL LET YOU TOLERATE ME LIKE A PIECE OF SHIT!!”
Evelyn quivered in fear as he blared and tightened his grip, strangling her. She stared into his almond eyes that had never looked this menacing ever. There was not an ounce of light in them, and were only swathed with sheer darkness. He looked furious, ready to wreak havoc and torture her in the worst ways that she can’t even imagine. Sweat trickled down her left temple but she couldn’t let him do that. She needs to do something, quickly.
Only one thought crossed her mind.Without breaking the eye contact, Evelyn raised her right knee and aimed it where the sun doesn’t shine but before she could succeed, Xander grabbed her thigh and pushed her on the wall.
“Wrong Move, Eve.” He husked in a low voice and flashed her an evil smirk. Evelyn gaped at him in horror, her breath got stuck in her throat.
Why the hell did she ask Dylan to back out? She would have readily accepted him if she had the slightest hint that Xander would be this frightening.
But Evelyn still refused to regard him as a monster. He was her friend, how can her betrayal turn him this twisted? He was a gentleman, the perfect man a girl could dream of then why did her rejection turn his whole personality upside down?
“Xander, please. I know you are hurt but you don’t want to do this. Let’s talk, I will surely clarify-”
“There’s nothing left to clarify, Eve,” Xander cut her midway and cupped her chin. A chilled breeze of fear swept her face as she looked into his icy cold eyes that were teeming with vengeance and spite.
“This was supposed to end my way. With my victory but no, your one-sided love always comes in my way but not this time dear.” His pitch dropped as he inched closer to her face. Xander was vindictive and Evelyn finally realized it. She was just a prize that he wanted to win so that he can bring Dylan to his knees. He just wanted to defeat him, nothing else.
Resentment filled her veins. She shot him a glare but Xander proved her wrong as his features softened before she could catch it. Grabbing a tendril of her hair, he titled his head and looked at her with captivating eyes, as if in a daze. Evelyn watched him, stunned.
“I let you slip once but not this time. I can’t afford to take such a huge risk because it costs me a lot.” He continued making deadly promises.
“Please Xander, stop this.”
Evelyn sobbed inconsolably; he was now scaring her. This wasn’t normal. It was sick and terrifying.
Perhaps, she failed to understand him.
“I will dear,” Xander husked and pressed a soft kiss at the corner of her mouth making her retch. Pulling back, he stared at her fondly.
“but only after I make you mine.”
