Shhh…
49. Shhh…
🤍🖤💜 Jacob 💜🖤🤍
I park my car in front of the location shared by Natalie. I am restless and uptight, if it was a good idea to ask her to drive. She sounded fairly shocked and frantic. She had told me she wasn’t feeling safe and location of the party was too far from my house. I didn’t want her to wait alone in the car for an hour.
I see a car enter the driveway and I exhale a breath of relief.
She gets out of the car and says, “I am sorry Jacob... I called Ira but she didn’t-”
“Relax…” I tell her, “Don’t ever hesitate to call me if you ever feel unsafe or something…”
She blinks and nods.
“How is he?” I ask, opening the back door.
“Kind of out… Barely conscious.”
We bolster him by the shoulder and take him towards the house. Natalie finds the keys in his pocket and unlocks the door. I don’t like it when she slips her hands in his pocket. But it’s fucking unreasonable though so I try to ignore it.
“Do you know anybody we could call?” I ask as we enter the house. We cannot leave him alone and I am not in a mood to stay here for the night or leave Natalie, for that matter.
We try to take him towards the bedroom but eventually lay him over the sofa in the living room.
Dude is heavy!
“No…” she adds hesitantly. “I… we only met only a few times.”
Date?
“Let’s check his phone,” I say while vetting his pockets.
I take out his phone, hoping to unlock it with no trouble. Natalie removes his shoes and sets a few pillows behind his head. I don’t like it again.
Fuck! what is wrong with?
He is mumbling and apologizing. He probably won’t remember a thing tomorrow.
Reckless bastard.
This was a narrow escape. What if Natalie had taken that drink...
Luckily, his phone has a fingerprint lock. I try some of his digits and it finally unlocks.
“Any idea whom I should call?” I realize almost instantly it was a pointless question. She told me they only met a few times.
“We could call someone who had the last call or chat with him.” She suggests.
Good idea.
I ring at a few numbers showing up in his call history, but nobody picks up. It’s 1 AM, I kinda predicted this.
I open his chat history with the last person. I get tense as soon as I read the last interaction.
Nico: ‘Gonna get laid tonight. That girl agreed to meet again!’
James: ‘God she was hot! Wish I could have her. Screw her hard and fast!’
Nico: ‘FUCK OFF! Don’t talk about her like that.‘
Wow! Ok!
None of my business.
It’s a hookup.
Fuck! It’s none of my business.
I called the number. While the phone rings, my mind runs around with newfound information.
James: ‘God she was hot! Wish I could have her. Screw her hard and fast!’
Jerk!
God, I wish I could unsee those messages. I don’t need to know this. She is my crush. I don’t want to know about her sex life!
Finally, the guy picks up the call and I fill him in on his friend’s situation.
“He said he will be here in 10 minutes,” I say after talking to the Jerk and placing the phone on dining table.
I glance at Natalie and see her focused on listening to something on her phone. She is talking to someone about precautions we need to take for the guy. I can see she is still riled up, barely holding it together. I go to the kitchen and grab some water for both of them.
I should have offered it sooner.
After disconnecting the call, she takes the glass. I get an urge to comfort her, so I take a step and stand in front of her. She looks up at me with the most vulnerable eyes ever.
God, I just noticed. She is looking stunning tonight.
“Thank you... You have no idea- “She whispers.
“Shhh…” I shush her by placing my palm on her cheek.
I want to trace her lips with my thumb. I wish I could to taste her right now. I take a breath to control my urge and push her gently by the arm. She takes a few steps back until her legs hit the sofa behind her.
“Sit down…” I tell her softly. I want to sit with her to hold her, but there is a knock at the front door.
I let in the guy and fill him in with the night’s details. Natalie explains the precautions he needs to take for his friend. He thanks me while leering at Natalie.
God, I want to punch this jerk.
Natalie gets uncomfortable and says, “We should leave now...”
To be honest, I want to punch her date/hookup guy laying on the sofa too.
I guess it’s a cue we better get going. We sit in car and I drive quietly home.
“Do you trust that guy?... Nico…” I ask her after a while.
“Yeah... he is a good guy…” she asks after a pause, “Wh.. Why did you ask?”
“Nothing...”
I am skeptical, if were both of them were the target or if he accidentally drank her drink?
“Jacob, I know him. I trust him. He didn’t know…”
I glance at her and nod. “Ok.”
She likes him.
Was it a date or hookup?
I shake my head. It’s none of my damn business. I have to remember, the whole world isn’t asexual like me.
Demi, I mean…
“Otherwise… How was the night?” I ask her to change the topic but realize it was a stupid question. But I need to talk. To stop these narrow thoughts popping into my head.
“It was awesome.” She tells me in a quiet voice.
God, she likes him.
”This shit had to happen to ruin it…” she adds.
“Hey… You are safe… that matters. Ok?” I tell her softly.
I see tears shimmering in her eyes, but she blinks them away.
