Chapter 19
Kein’s POV
“Alicia!” I started to run to the elevator, but Alpha Sobong and Bata Gae held me back
“no let go of me; I can’t let him take her” I barked thrusting and pulling trying to get out of their grip
“Calm down Kein” Alpha Sobong hissed asserting his dominance
“She’s my mate, I can’t just let him take her, I have to do something”
“He will kill you, he almost did, now calm yourself” his voice mixed with his wolfs’, and I let out a loud grunt in defeat
The entire room was quiet, no one knew what to do or say, it was clear from the look on their faces that the party was over.
“Come, you can use a drink” I followed the Alpha to his office, he handed me a glass of whisky and I took a big gulp undoing my now suffocating tie
“Sorry about my outburst, I know that I can’t ask for your help but I’m going to get her back, I don’t care if I die in the process” I slammed the empty glass on the table, he looked at me and poured me another drink
“Sorry it had to be her” he sighed shaking his head
“What do you mean?”
“We knew he was going to take someone” he clicked his lips “sorry it had to be her” I shot my eyes up at him not believing what I just heard
“You knew?” I barked at him, he nodded
“He invoked that law a month ago, and there have been rumours that he was going to do this...tonight” he shrugged and sat on his chair taking a sip of his strong drink
“You said we could invite people, I brought my mate, you could have warned us”
“Unfortunately, it had to go this way…there was no other way”
“You wanted him to take my mate?” he was making me furious; he is my alpha and that is the only reason why I’m fighting the urge to kill him right now
“Not your mate, it’s just unfortunate that it had to be your mate, but we needed him to take someone, anyone”
“But why? I don’t understand” the frustration vibrating through my body
The door opened and Bata Gae entered with two other pack leaders, chief Kwog who is in charge of pack defences and commander Mae who is in charge of pack training
“Is he on board?” Bata Gae said nodding at my direction talking to the Alpha
“Not yet” Alpha Sobong got up from his chair, all of them circling around me looking at me expectantly
“What the fuck is going on?”
“We let your mate get taken in front of everyone as evidence of King Aziel’s tyranny” The Alpha responded
“What are you saying, are you planning a coup, are you insane?”
“What happened to the guy who was willing to die to save his mate? I could’ve sworn he was here a minute ago” The Alpha mocked
“I was planning on sneaking in there and stealthily sneaking her out, not a whole bloody war” I stated in disbelief
“It’s happening whether you are part of it or not, so are you with us?” I took a deep breath
“Fine, what’s the plan?”
“Eight packs joined our cause after witnessing Kind Aziel take your mate” Bata Gae chimed in
“That was a beautiful performance by the way” commander Mae smirked
“But you have to promise me that Alicia will not get hurt, whatever happens she get out of this alive”
“We’ll do our best” Chief Kwog said in a not so reassuring tone
They all had their game faces on as they laid out their strategy. I took out my phone and dialled
“This is Kein Keng, am I speaking to Mr Brandon Thompson?…Hello Sir, I’m your daughter’s mate” I could hear the excitement in his voice, it made my heart leap to be accepted so whole heartedly, and yet I felt so much pain, I hadn't met him yet, but I've already let him down.
“I would have liked to speak to you under different circumstances, but I think it’s best you hear this from me rather than anyone else” he became quiet, he could sense the urgency in my voice as he listened intently to my every word
“I need your help”
Six more packs joined the cause while I was on the phone with Alicia's’ dad
Alicia’s POV
“Ouch, you’re hurting me” I hissed as Alexander's grip tightened around my hand
“His scent is all over you” he growled, pushing me against the car, a small grunt escaped my lips as my back hit the hard surface, I watched as the king and all the security climbed into two separate SUV’s and drove off.
“From now on, no one touches you but me, got that” I nodded
“Good” he breathed, pressing himself against me, the warmth of his skin sending sparks down my spine
He brushed his lips against mine and whispered in my ear
“I want that disgusting scent off you, I will scrub you raw if I have to” his words brought up an emotion in me that I didn’t understand, I wanted his hands on me, I want to know how it feels to have him bathe me, ‘this is insane, why does he have such an effect on me?’
His body pressed against mine, I closed my eyes and drank in his scent, his hand crept in my hair making me weak in the knees, his lips trailed my jaw line, and I tilted my head giving him better access to my neck.
I felt his smile brush against my skin as he nibbled, and sucked making me melt like butter in his hands
“Let’s finish this back at the hotel” his breath teasing my skin as he spoke, I bit my lip and nodded, he held out his hand to me and opened the door.
His eyes were soft and caring, this is a man that ripped me away from my mate, almost killing him in the process, how come he seems like a totally different person now.
My wolf feels it too, I feel like I can trust him…what’s worse is that I want to trust him…why…why don’t I hate him, I want to hate him, I need to hate him, but I can’t.
I got in his black Maserati Levante, and he sped away.
I studied him, his gorgeous honey coloured hair bringing a dazzling hue over his features, his crimson lips bringing thoughts in my head of how it would feel to kiss him, my eyes trailed over to his cute little stubble, I wanted to run my fingers through it, and count each and every hair
“Like what you see?” grinned
I jumped and looked out the window, he chuckled, and my cheeks flushed
‘Dammit why do I want him so badly...what's wrong with me?’ I thought to myself, biting my bottom lip, and taking deep breaths as I watched the buildings go by.
