Chapter 28: A Romantic Star-gazing
It never crosses my mind that Zarion is the type of guy who likes star-gazing. It sounds cheesy and romantic for him to do it. He was more like the rigid type, but we ended up lying on the ground, looking at the sky.
After a couple minutes of silence, I turned my head to my side. “Can we just do it? I'm jealous of your abilities.” I was referring to his werewolf abilities. His eyebrows creased.”No, it's not safe for you.”
Half of my body turns to his side, leaning on his wide and stern chest. “Why don't we just try?” There’s no wrong with trying…” I exhaled, drawing circles on his stomach. He just chuckled though. “I don't want you to be in danger,” he stopped for emphasis in his next sentence. “I don’t want you to die.”
“So you're kind of concerned about me now, huh?” I teased. His facial expression doesn’t change. “I’ve always been concerned with you the moment that you realized I was not an ordinary dog brought to your cabin.” He was looking at me quite intensely that I thought I’m going to disappear any minute from now. His lips were formed in a thin line, and he never blinked his eyes. It was my turn to laugh since he looks so serious now.
“Zarion, stop staring at me.” I chuckled awkwardly and debated whether I should look away. The heat of his gaze is too much for me to handle. This is such a hot seat. I gazed at his lips while I observed his breathing become ragged. Little did I know, the bastard was already kissing me softly on my neck spot.
“Z-Zari…on.” His mouth on the sensitive spot of my skin was too much, “Zarion, what are you doing?”
“What, Cassidy?” His voice was demanding, like challenging me to stop him because he can’t. I can’t either. I repeated his name, my words fading into a gasp when his fingers moved in circles on my stomach, teasing my belly button with his thumb. He knows how to level up his game… because I was thirsty just at the thought of his fingers touching my skin. And God knows how much I loathe the layers of clothing because it hinders him from touching my bareness.
I wondered if I could survive the cold if I got naked now.
“Cassidy…” he whispered, his Adam's apple moving up and down. I want him so much to touch me. Looking up, I saw his jaw fall open. It must be the similar reaction I was wearing on my face.
“You do know how to turn me on, huh?” I said, shaking my head and touching the sharpness of his jaw. The smirk on my face washed off when he leaned in my ears. “I was trying to warm you, though. I didn’t know the gesture turns you on already.”
Heat covered my face due to my embarrassment. “You like me kissing your neck?” he asked while doing it. God, this man—
“Like this, Cass?”
“Zarion…” I whimpered, shutting my eyes close while grinding my body to his. I don’t mind getting that high until I feel something within me ready to explode. “Oh no, baby, you don’t get to come not until I tell you so.” Zarion grabbed my chin, tilting my head upwards.
Shit, I was so close!
“Open your eyes,” he whispered between my lips. I did what he told me, disappointment evident in my eyes though. My mouth watered when we stared at each other. I just can’t explain the connection I felt with Zarion. I may not be his mate but there is a deeper bond that binds us.
Not to mention I’m always thirsty when I’m with him. I can’t get enough of him, to be honest. I don’t know why. And I have no plans in finding out.
I was only straining myself not to do embarrassing things in front of Zarion. And I know, too, he feels that—he feels the connection that we have. He just couldn’t admit it.
“Zarion.” His breathing became uneven, so I got up before an argument erupts. I’m mad at him. I don’t know why. I couldn’t explain it, even though he wouldn’t ask.
“Where are you going, Cassidy?” Worry etched across his voice probably because he didn’t let me come. I didn’t answer him. Instead, I tread away from his lying body.
“Cassidy!” Zarion’s voice reverberated in the woods. I was just going to pee, but I wouldn’t tell him that. That’s embarrassing me too much. Not that werewolves pee—or do they even pee? I don’t know! It’s too embarrassing to ask him that!
I went towards the huge bark of the tree that was enough to cover my body. Wearing down my never-ending layers of clothes, I did what humans do to excrete the toxins in their system. Looking up, an idea sparked my mind. My intrusive thoughts told me to do it, and it won. Climbing on the tree was never on my bucket list, but here I am, doing it just because Zarion pissed me off.
And I am really going to piss off.
“Cassidy!” Zarion’s voice echoed in the mountain. “This is such a petty idea,” I grunted, trying to get to another branch. “Whoa!” I shrieked painfully because I almost slipped and fell. “Cassidy?” Zarion repeated my name, his voice full of worry and anxiety. Yet it made me feel the fluttering of butterflies in my stomach, aside from the fact that I’m climbing a big tree (this is making me high though) that would definitely give me a concussion if I fall.
Okay, maybe more than concussion.
“Come on, Zarion.” I hugged tightly to the branch of the tree. I couldn’t refrain from looking down at the ground. And when I saw Zarion’s shadow, that's when I decided to take the risk. My eyes were shut, adrenaline pulsing through my veins like I was drinking wine for the first time.
My smile widened when big hands and muscular arms and a warm chest caught me mid-air. “Thank you so much. That was an experiment if you really care for me—”
“An experiment? Of course, I care for you. You’re my mate.” A cunning and familiar voice rings in my ears. My world stopped for a moment, and a rush of fear flooded every bit of my existence when I saw the face of the muscular man. Alpha Brandon just beamed at me and I don’t know whether it’s genuine or mocking.
A growl was heard behind us. “Don’t you touch her.” In a second, I’m behind Zarion’s body now, protecting me from the real predator—his brother. Yet Zarion’s shoulders were shaking, his claws ready to attack Brandon who was now eating an apple.
I didn’t even notice he was eating or when he started to eat.
Seriously?! Eating an apple after saving the wonderful ass of your mate. That’s terrible. Perfectly terrible.
Brandon was casually eating on the branch of the tree I climbed minutes ago as if nothing happened. His eyes were straight, striking at me like it was me who did something wrong. “You were climbing the tree. That was so dangerous for a human like you, honey.”
“Why do you freaking care?” I snarled. His expression shifted to sarcastic. “Didn’t you hear what I said? I care for you because you’re my mate.”
I scoffed. I think I finally learn Zarion’s way of grinning and smirking now. “Oh come on, Brandon, everybody knows you don’t care. In fact, you even tried killing me!”
He nodded, took a bite of his apple, and smiled. He smiled. “Correct! My bad, Cassidy.”
“What are you doing here?” Zarion finally asked, flashing his fangs. His grip on my wrist tightened like he was afraid of what his brother might do to me. To us.
“I was just taking my nightly stroll in the woods. And then voila! I smelled her scent. It was too strong… brother, I couldn’t resist it.”
“Why did you follow me?” I asked. He smirked and sighed. Zarion mimicked his gestures, “Well, let me share something interesting with both of you, aye?”
Zarion never let his guard down. It looks like he wants to end the conversation. “We’re not interested. Let’s go, Cassidy.” He turned his back on Brandon, but still in a protective stance.
Brandon said something that made us stop walking. “Actually, I, uh, I was having these dreams you know. About me and Cassidy.”
My eyes shut suddenly because it makes me sick. I expected this from him, judging from his cockiness, his mouth doesn’t have a filter. “She was so beautiful in my dreams, brother, riding my cock up and down. Those tits? Wow! Must be awesome to come on it—”
Zarion punched him in the face too fast that I didn’t know how to react first—what Brandon explicitly described was that he was having wet dreams about me, or Zarion’s quick motion to harm his step-brother.
I guess I can do both, can’t I?
