Chapter 9 (Coffee Maker to The Hot CEO 2)
(Joyce's POV)
I turned to the secretary, and she wasn't staring at me with her best eyes. Nonetheless, she took my number as her boss had instructed.
"Shall we go on that date now?" Mr. Fernando said, stretching his hands towards me again.
I looked confused. I thought I made it clear to him just now that he was not having sex with me.
"No! What part of 'I'm not having sex with you' do you not understand?" I said, and then his mood changed entirely.
"Hey, I won't bite." He responded, but I didn't care about his assuring words at that moment.
"If there is nothing else, I'd like to take my leave now." I said to both of them
They stood there as I turned around to go to the elevator. However, I could feel the CEO's eyes following my peaches as I walked. I stepped into the elevator with an eerie feeling, and just when I was about to close the doors, a hand interrupted.
He stepped in, flashing a faint smile at me as I looked up at him. "What are you doing?" I eagerly asked.
"What? I just thought I could escort you on your way out since I'm heading out too." He responded, still holding the faint smile on his gorgeous face.
The few seconds of silence became super intense as the elevator went down to the lower floor. We both stood there like trees, one person not trying to move or start a conversation. Then suddenly I reached for my bag, brought out my phone, and checked for any new notifications.
I caught him peeking at my phone, but he didn't make any retreating moves either.
"You look familiar." He spoke as he cleared the air.
I wish. I look familiar to the CEO of SCREAM TV? That's got to be the biggest joke of the year.
"I wish, but I've never seen your face before."
He seemed doubtful of my response. More like he wanted me to say the same thing in his case, but I wasn't lying.
"Really?" He inquired, looking down at my eyes.
"Yes, look, I know you're the CEO of this hugely popular company, but I'm sorry that I've actually never seen you on the paparazzi before." I was trying not to hurt his feelings.
I noticed he took a gulp and put his chin up before saying anything.
"Oh, well, I don't deal with paparazzi. Instead, my company has paparazzi." He said it nonchalantly.
It was at this alone moment with him that I began to notice and examine his bodily features.
so thick in the muscles that his T-shirt fit right around it. a well-rounded chest that was very visible even under the T-shirt. His chin, oh, my God, he had such a manly chin, and his shoulders were as broad as fuck.
His pale blue eyes reflected heat.
I flinched out of my head when I heard the elevator door open.
"My secretary would be in touch." He assured me as he stepped out of the elevator before me, and then it happened again.
The once-loud building gradually fades back into obscurity.
I rolled my eyes as I heard some of the female workers whisper, "He is so fucking hot." I step out of the elevator after a few seconds as well.
Never have I seen a billionaire swag on shorts and a T-shirt that much. I just couldn't take my eyes off him, even though he was already outside the building heading for his luxurious Ferrari. I guess the charm may have rubbed off on me sooner than I thought.
"Hey, Joyce, how'd it go?"
It was Peter. He had spotted me from the waiting desk and came forward optimistically.
I didn't know exactly where to start. It was at that moment that it hit me that I just talked to the CEO of SCREAM TV, my dream company, and he actually asked me to be his coffee maker with a salary of $500 per week. That's just crazy!
"Well?" Peter asked impatiently, placing both hands on my shoulders.
"I didn't get the job." I could already see the sad look manifesting on Peter's face after I said this.
"(Sighs) Don't worry, you'll get another opportunity." He was patting me on the shoulder to show affection.
"You didn't let me finish, Peter. I wasn't hired as a TV broadcaster, but the CEO of SCREAM TV asked me to be his coffee maker." I giggled after saying it.
"What?!" Peter exclaimed.
Just then, my eyes came in contact with the weird man sitting behind the counter, whom we had asked for directions from earlier. His right hand is placed under his chin. He was eavesdropping on our conversation, and that made me uncomfortable.
"Come, I'll tell you everything outside." I dragged Peter outside the building and explained everything.
Peter was shocked as I was after hearing the news, and most importantly, I couldn't wait to tell Kareen about the experience. It was almost time for our classes, so we boarded a taxi and went straight to campus from there.
________
(Campus Cafeteria)
"Give it back. Please!"
"What did you say? Sorry, I couldn't quite catch that."
"I said give it back."
"Oh, you'll have to speak louder than that, my dear."
They were a five-man gang, enjoying what they do best. What bothered me at the time wasn't what they were doing, but who they were doing it to.
Feeling excited about the gist of the day, I went in search of Kareen after my lectures in the afternoon were over. I would have gone to her department if it hadn't been for the noise and scornful laughter coming from the cafeteria.
Of course I knew it would be Xavier's doing, but what I didn't expect was to see Kareen as the victim of the ridicule.
Her bag pack was being passed around to each of the members while she begged them to return it. The campus students formed a circle around the group as they watched Xavier and his gang members continue with their ridicule against Kareen.
In that moment, I lost it...
