Comeback 2
Chapter 65
Comeback 2
"Hello, Mr Beau!" Claire called, as a bright but mechanical smile spread out across her cheeks.
"Miss Racine," Alex replied coldly. He joined his fist together, intertwining his fingers between each other, letting his middle finger freely tap on the opposite hand's knuckles. He maintained a straight posture, with his hands resting in front of him on his desk.
Claire said; "I got your letter this morning." She sat down gracefully across his desk, placing her bag gently on his desk.
"Then I guess you understand that you being here right now is illegal." Alex maintained a passive face.
"Oh Alex, spare me the damn protocol." Claire waved at him cheekishly.
"I already did when I did not call security on you for barging into my office without my approval." He said sternly. How he managed to stare at her without disconnecting her head from her neck was an art skill he himself never knew he possessed.
She chuckled, crossing her leg over the other. "Your letter mentioned me being released from my duty in the company and not my duty as your girlfriend." She smiled confidently.
"Damnit Claire!" Alex snapped, he slammed his hands on his desk as he stood up in anger. Pissed off veins were clearly visible all over his face.
Claire jolted in her seat. The confidence she exerted seconds ego was replaced with the rapid beating of her heart in fear.
"I don't know what possessed you these past four days, but just know that I'm trying my best not to make you disappear… for the sake of our friendship, don't push me!" Alex warned. All his cranial tendons were visible, his skin tone was automatically turning dark.
She felt it too.
"You should get the hell out of this building why I am still being considerate." He said; this time calmly, but in a deadly tone.
She got the vibe, but she was here for a purpose. She knew that she had to suppress her fear… and she did.
"I know that you are mad at me, I totally understand…" she started explaining remorsefully.
Alex raised his brow questionably. Even though he was fuming in rage, he wanted to see what stunt she wanted to pull.
"... I know that I messed up, but I promise it has never happened before and it'll never again, Please!" She pleaded pitifully, twitching her brows to crown the act.
Silence:)
"It was just a one time thing and he…"
"Do you mean to say they?"
"....was the…. what?" She paused in shock, 'what? Did he just say they? Does he know about the other guys?'
Her mouth remained stock with 'the'. She stared at him in horror.
He leaned slightly but intimidatingly over the table, holding her gaze.
"Did you not hear me or did you not understand?" He lowered his voice and whispered coldly.
She shivered, her eyes bulged out unconsciously. No matter how hard she tried to maintain a passive brave face, she couldn't. The million expressions that flashed through her face in a split second was enough to sell her out even if he had no proof.
"You open your legs to a group of strangers and then you come back here,...." thinking about the video from last night made his anger swell up once more, ".... You come here with absolutely no shame, telling me bullshit! Huh?" He circled around the table, closing up on her in slow, menacing and authoritative steps.
She swallowed hard when he approached her. He was Alex Beau, why did she not reason it out that if he could barge in on her and Mr Gelintine, then he was probably aware of every corner she had visited in central city.
"I do not share public belongings." He leaned over her and whispered calmly in her ear.
She felt a sharp pain cut through her heart. ' I do not share public belongings….' His cruel words echoed over and over in her mind. The defense wall she had built before coming here was totally crushed just by those six words.
She fought hard to swallow saliva to dampen her throat. Everything became automatically tightened, except her tear glands, they wanted to secrete their favourite liquid freely.
"I do not want to see you anywhere around this company ever again!" He warned, clenching his fist by his side, trying extremely hard to control himself so as not to do something stupid. He could never have believed that things were gonna turn out like this.
He left her side and walked over to the minibar at the other end of his grand office. Opening a bottle of whiskey and grabbing a glass, he poured the whiskey in the glass, filling it almost half. He gulped down the liquid, emptying the contents of the glass in one goal.
The burning sensation of the alcohol flowing down through his throat was exactly what he needed right now.
He stood there with his back to Claire, he had no interest in seeing her face. He did not turn until he heard the heavy door of his office close gently.
Just as the door closed, his phone beeped. He pulled it out of his pocket as he strolled back to his desk.
Text: * he's in the elevator, I could not hold him any longer*. Tony sent him a quick text. Only then did he remember that Neon was around too.
He promised himself that Claire would not ruin his mood, but she did. No matter how hard he tried to let it off, it still pissed the hell off him, crushing his ego.
