Mr Beau
Mr. Beau.
Another two weeks passed by in a flash. Just as Neon and Alex had promised, Mike, Claire and their stooges got arrested. They were awaiting trial.
At least, things had been calm for some time now. Lara still had not gotten back to her old life, she had already become used to being with Alex in Limesville and hanging out with his mother.
She sat in their bedroom, watching a movie__as usual, while waiting for the time to pass.
Gisele was not around, she was hanging out with some of her old friends. Lara decided to play sick in the morning, so as not to join the ladies, but truth be told, she was not feeling too well either.
At first, she'd told Alex that it was probably just pre menstrual cramps, but the more time went by, the more weird she felt.
Compared to the first four weeks of her moving here, Alex had been less busy this week, so they got to spend enough time together.
He'd made a habit to take her out almost every evening, showing her around the town, the beautiful touristic sites, typical of the French cities, something they the anglophones don't get to see often.
And as usual, they'll seal off the night making love.
As her movie finally came to an end, she decided to go swim in the pool to relax and cool off a little.
She wrapped a transparent linen around her waist, as she walked down the stairs and towards the back door.
Her light green bikini was still clearly visible through the white linen she had around her.
She walked out through the back door, gently loosened the linen around and dived into the pool.
She failed to see Mr Beau, sitting in one of the garden booths. From his position, he had the perfect view, watching her immerse herself in water.
He watched her silently for close to five minutes, sipping his wine slowly as the minutes went by.
He stood up and stepped out from his little hide out just about the same time she stepped out from the water.
She had her back to him so she did not see him close in on her.
She continued to ignorantly dry her hair, while sitting by the pool with her feet in the water.
"You should always use sunscreen out in the open like this…" he said behind her.
She jerked up in fright and immediately turned to meet the owner of the voice.
"Monsieur Beau, you startled me." She said with a nervous laugh as she placed her hand on her palpitating chest.
"I did not mean to." He said in a polite masculine tone, accompanied with his usual thick French accent.
"Here." He stretched his other hand and offered her a glass of wine.
"No thanks, I am not a fan of wine." She declined politely as she stood up and made her way to the swimming pool deck, making herself comfortable on the nearest sunlounger.
Mr Beau could not help but drool as she unconsciously swayed her round curves past him.
He took a seat on the sunlounger adjacent to her.
"You always seem to avoid me, so do I scare you?" He asked with a straight face.
"No, absolutely not. Why would I want to avoid you?" She asked with a nervous laugh.
This was actually the first time both of them sat down together, Lara would always find the tiniest window to escape his presence except when she was with Alex.
"I do not know, you tell me." He said.
"I'm not avoiding you" she said solidly.
"I'll take that, I guess I make you uncomfortable then?" He pressed.
"No, either. Y'all are warm to me." That was true though. She nervously placed a neatly folded towel on her exposed thighs when she noticed his eyes roaming down there.
"Hmm." He chuckled. "You should request a maid to get you sunscreen, you don't want this harsh sun ruining this beautiful body of yours right?" He added as he emptied out one of the filled glasses in his hand and stood up on his feet with a smile.
'Your choice of words worries me, and the fact that you do not seem to know how to control where your eyes loiter.' she scolded in her mind. She so badly wanted to say it out loud but kept on reminding herself that he was Alex's father after all, and she needed to respect him.
Maybe it was just a thing in the Beau family to flirt with women, because Alex's uncle was no different.
She stared at him as he strolled away, without bothering to return his smile.
"Oh…." He paused and turned back to her. ".... given that it is just the two of us at home, if you need someone to help you apply the ointment, I'll be in the living room." He said, he winked briefly and continued walking away as if he did not utter a single word.
She held her mouth open in bamboozlement. If it were a guy of her taste, his words would have already sent her brain cells running haywire, but coming from an older guy __despite him being handsome and charming, but he was her boyfriend's father, for crying out loud.
Instead, she felt a kind of muscle killing chill run through her spine anytime he stared at her inappropriately.
"Kayla," she called to the maid who was passing by.
"Yes ma'am," the girl about her age, somewhere in her mid twenties, answered politely.
"Can you please get me a glass of juice," She asked politely.
"Sure ma'am."
She smiled at the girl. She picked up her phone and decided to browse through her social media accounts, a good way to get her mind off Mr Beau.
It had been such a habit she'd picked up recently, at first she seldom had the time for any extracurricular relaxation, including frequenting social media.
She buried herself in the entertainment of her phone, without realizing how fast the time was flying, sipping her juice with no rush. She was probably on the fourth glass, she'd lost count.
"I'm almost convinced that I'm a ghost." A familiar voice said softly behind her.
"Alex," she looked up and smiled at him.
He squeezed himself beside her on the same sunlounger and wrapped his arms around her.
She leaned in in his embrace and lifted her head, drawing in for a kiss. He responded by leaning down slightly and capturing her lips in his mouth.
"Why are you home early?" She asked in a soft voice when they broke off the kiss.
"I am because of you, how are you feeling?" He asked with concern.
"Better, I guess." She answered, not sure of her answer.
"Is that why you are texting other guys and smiling?" He teased,
"These guys?" She asked while showing him her phone screen to see the video of a baby grabbing food from the mothers plate.
"Are you jealous?" She asked with a downy chuckle.
"Ofcourse," he said almost immediately. The worst part is that it is a baby guy." He added.
"Baby guy?" She asked, letting out an exhilarating laugh, "where the hell do you draw your vocabulary from?"
"Call me, Mr Creativity." He leaned down, rubbing his forehead on hers.
Her body galloped in his arms as she laughed harder. "That's my cousin's baby." She said after her laughter subsided.
"Ok, I guess I am no longer jealous." Alex confessed.
"What?" She giggled.
"Because he is family."
"Oh, ok."
"Speaking about family, don't you think it's high time I met your parents?" Alex asked, turning the funky atmosphere to a serious one.
"Ehnnn, well... technically, you are the busy one here, so…" she replied
"I am free anytime, do they even know about me?" He asked.
"No." She answered honestly.
"Ouch!" He dramatically held his hand on his chest as if he were in pain.
She chuckled. "No offense, but I am from a very religious home and telling them about you means I'll have to tell them I am living with you and…." She started to explain.
"Wait, hold on." Alex cut in. "Where do they think you are right now?" He asked.
" I told them I got transferred here, more like a promotion, so….they are kind of happy." She replied.
"Wow!" He exclaimed.
"What?"
"Hold up, do they still think that you are somehow still a virgin?" He asked bluntly.
"Jeez, Alex Beau, get out of here!" She screamed and pushed him, causing him to fall on the deck like a back of salt.
They both laughed.
"You do realize that I'm already past thirty and my waist is gradually getting worn out right?" He asked as he sat up on the floor.
She burst into another fit laughter. "Your waist doesn't hurt when you go five rounds in one night on this 'my virgin' body huh?" She teased.
"I just can't help myself." He got up and took his place beside her once more.
She raised her eyes and fortunately or unfortunately, she spotted Mr Beau looking down on them from the balcony, while sipping wine as usual.
"Alex," Lara called out.
"Hmm."
"Can we go in?" She asked.
"Sure," he agreed quickly. " Are you tired?" He asked.
"No, just that…" she contemplated whether or not to tell him about his father's weird behavior, she knew that, at one point or the other, she had to open up to him.
"What's up babe?" He asked with worry.
"I don't feel comfortable being around your dad." She said straightforwardly.
"Oh, I won't ask why, but he is not around now so there is nothing to be uncomfortable about right?"
"Nah, look up at the balcony." She said, then quickly held his chin firmly, to prevent him from glancing conspicuously, "look discreetly." She whispered and let go of his head.
