Promise
“Okay. Did you pass?” Question it.
Shit.
I really don’t want to talk about that and then he will ask more.
“You? Are you taking an exam at the Ateneo?” I asked him.
“Yes.” I look at him.
“Passed?” I will ask.
“Yes.” Answer it.
Sana all past.
I was sad again. All my acquaintances passed, I was the only one who didn’t!
“How about you?” he asked.
Only shake I could answer.
“That’s fine. Maybe Ateneo is not for you. There are many other universities.” He promised.
“How much if I don’t pass, I’ll get down. Now my question is really my brain.” I said sadly.
“Don’t think like that,” he said.
“What if I don’t pass the others? I’m not going to college anymore? How can I dream?” I’m sorry to say. I look down.
“Don’t worry, you’ve passed.” I turned to him. Its eye was looking straight at the road.
“You pass through my heart.”
“Why do I feel like something awkward happened between the two of you Brother?”
“H-ha?”
“You’ve been quiet before.” Said Freeda, this is Magnus’ younger brother.
“What do you mean? You’re too young to say something awkward.”
“But I feel it, Celz.”
We just met, he had a nickname that he immediately gave me.
We picked it up at his school because their driver couldn’t come. It’s a good thing that he agreed, otherwise what would we have done in the car if he hadn’t texted.
She goes to a different school because she doesn’t like her brother to meddle with her social life.
Honestly, she’s loud and she has a lot of opinions about everything. Somehow we agree on fashion and some girly stuff.
She’s 3 years younger than Magnus. But she’s more advanced in fashion than her brother.
Will Bliss be like this when she grows up? They are sure to get along even though there is a big age gap.
“So what happened?”
“Freeda,” Magnus called.
She rolled her eyes.
She’s amusing.
I talked to Freeda the whole trip home. Sometimes I glare at Magnus who is driving seriously.
“Bye! Nice to meet you Celz!” Freeda said when I leaned on the car window.
It dropped me off not far from our house. I won’t send him to the opposite side of the house because when Mom sees him, she will probably send him away again.
“And don’t forget about the dress you’re talking about when we see each other again!”
The dress she’s talking about is my prom dress. Because I mentioned it to him about the prom.
She’s not surprised that I won the crown. But she wants to see what I wear that night.
“I will.” I chuckled.
I turned to Magnus.
I pressed my lips together before speaking, “Thank you for driving me home.”
He nodded.
“Tell me when to close my eyes so you guys could kiss.”
I giggled at what she said. Magnus glared at her sister.
Nailing ako. “Hey… See you tom!” I said.
Freeda waved. I waited for the car to leave.
I turned around and pressed my warm cheeks. I bit my lip to stop myself from smiling.
“Are you coming to Celiza?” Bea asked me.
“Huh? Where?” I asked her.
We are currently here in our cafeteria. The class is over and I’m just going to practice for graduation. So we ate first.
“School outing, before graduation.” Bea replied.
I looked back at Bea. “Isn’t it bad to go out or what about graduating?” I asked her.
“Bitch, that’s just superstition. You really tend to believe in such things.” It’s a promise.
“A lot of bad things can happen, then there’s nothing wrong with believing no. To avoid something.” I said again.
“You take care as long as we’re sure, we’ll continue.” It’s a promise.
“Where?” I asked.
“Camarines Sur.” It’s a promise.
I sighed.
“Wow… That’s good.” I miss traveling.
“Of course not, then you don’t have to pay oh what, you’re free, I’ll give you a graduation gift.” He said then I was shocked.
“You’re always making me feel so poor, Bea.” Even if that is true.
She just laughed.
“I’m okay with you, then we’ll all have bonding.”
“I’m sure Tita Agnes will let you join, Celiza. Especially and for free.” Laughing it says.
“When’s the town?” I asked her.
“Tomorrow.” My eyes widened at what it said.
“Then now you just told me!?” I promise him.
“Bitch, don’t freak out. It was just said yesterday.” Its promise.
“I’ll think about it, Bea.”
“Good, I’ll call Aunt Agnes.”
“Don’t be Bea.”
“It’s alright,” he said, then walked away a little.
I looked around. Many students go for a walk while others take a break because the practice will definitely be over later for graduation.
“Magnus!” I shouted as I stared at him.
I ran between the two of us.
“Are you coming?” I asked him.
“W-where?”
“School outing.”
It took a long time to answer. “When you come along,” he said.
“Then I’ll go.” It’s like we’re together.
“I don’t think that trip is a good idea.” He said.
“Why?” I will ask. “It’s a road trip. Everything can happen,” he said.
I raised my eyebrow at him.
I then remembered what he said that I had passed in his heart.
If I passed on to him, did he pass on me?
We just kept quiet and didn’t talk about that again.
I don’t teach it much anymore because we are busy practicing. But I’m thinking that’s what I should be teaching before here.
“I just remembered, what else do you not know so that I can teach you. Of course I can’t just teach you a lesson.” I told him.
I saw the redness of his cheek, maybe he was thinking something.
Hmmm…
Even before she could answer, Bea whispered to me and gave me a thumbs up while on the phone.
I looked back at Magnus. “I’ll definitely be coming.” I smiled.
My forehead furrowed as it did not speak. He just kept staring at me.
“I’ll go.”
I turned to Magnus. “I thought you didn’t want to come along?”
“I changed my mind.” He said. “There’s still ‘everything can happen’ kapa” I said, mocking him.
“You’re going so… I’ll be with you.” It’s a promise.
