Both
“Celiza,”
“Yes…” I pursed my lips and nodded my head. I tried to hold back my tears but I lost it. Warm tears rolled down my cheeks.
“I love you Magnus.”
Even if I don’t turn them to the side I’m sure Mother and Aira look down on me and look down on me. They both groaned when I said yes while Magnus smiled.
“I love you too baby. Now, will you marry me?”
Tears escape my eyes again.
I nodded at him.
“Yes.” Tears are falling on my cheeks.
“Yes but---” he cut me off and stood up. He pulls me closer to him.
“I only accept yes baby,” he whispered like there’s nobody else in the room.
Tears rolled down my cheeks non stop. His words warmed my heart. It took me years to heal the scars of the past that pained me but it took him a second to heal it. At this moment I knew that both of our scars are healed because of acceptance and forgiveness. Taking courage to speak out for what we really feel ‘cause finally we’re together. We both chose to be selfish and risk everything for the happiness of a lifetime.
“What the hell, Magnus ?! How can you disrespect me like this? I’m your mother! You can’t marry her! You’re engaged with Aira! I won’t let you---”
He faced her. Aira is sobbing behind her back.
“I will marry Celiza with or without your permission.”
He clasped his hand with mine.
“What’s this?” said the man in his mid 40’s. It just enters the office. Like Magnus, he is wearing a suit and tie and almost looks like him.
Most likely it was his father.
“Everything’s gonna be alright.” Magnus whispered.
I took a deep breath. My heart is racing and my knees are wobbling.
Who doesn’t like to soften the knee? Her parents are here! Even though Aira was here, her face could hardly be painted. But you can tell how hopeful she was when Magnus’ dad entered the office.
I’m sure not everyone will be caught because I don’t agree with Mrs. Morisson, what about his wife? By the time we say that, they will definitely stop us.
Her father looked down at the hand we were holding. Her eyebrows rose.
“Who’s she?”
“She’s my fiance Dad.”
Its forehead furrowed.
“What about Aria?”
“At the very beginning I don’t want to be engaged to her ---”
“Aunt!” Aira shouted.
“Don’t listen to your son Argento. He’s going crazy because of that woman! He’s out of his mind”
“We’re getting married,” he said, then raised our hand, skating in front of us, where the ring was.
“No! That’s not true! See? Your son is crazy! He’s in too much of a hurry! He doesn’t mind the company!”
“Calm down, Emelda,” said Mr. Morrison.
“How can I? Your son wasted our time for nonsense! He’s engaged for fucks sake!”
“I didn’t agree on the engagement. But you still push through it.”
“D-don’t you remember that she left you ?! She left you when things got nasty! She doesn’t want to do anything with you! She’s using you! She doesn’t even like you because you’re thin and unattractive. Now that you’re successful she’s clinging on to you again! She left you for money! “
“You forced her to leave me! You used her situation Mom,” he said.
He turned to me. “Did you tell him?
“It doesn’t matter who told me Mom. I know everything now. You made me believe that she used me. You made me insecure about the way I look …” he paused, “I didn’t just lose coincidence … “he threw a glance at me,” I lost her. “
His wife frowned at him, “What’s your son talking about?”
“You choose her whether I or her sister. Of course she would choose her dying sister over me.”
“You’re indebted!” she screamed.
“Your family is a gold dig ---”
“Stop it, Emelda.” Strong promise of his wife.
“What? I can’t believe you. They’re gold diggers!”
“Based on what? You’re judging?”
Magnus’s Mother’s mouth was covered. I can clearly say where Magnus gets his values and principles.
He did not judge me based on what her wife told him about me. He has his own way of weighing things.
“You didn’t even tell me about what you did. You made your own decision and you used the girl to control our son. What is happening to you?” he said with disgust.
He confronted us. “You have my blessing, Magnus. You’re old enough to make a decision and to create a family.”
“N-no! What about Aira? The merging ---” he cut me off.
“You can’t wed my son because of business. I want him to marry someone he loves. I don’t want him to end up like me.”
My eyes widened at his last statement. I’m literally and utterly shocked.
“Are you serious Celiza? Magnus’ father said that?”
I nodded.
She barked with laughter. It almost rolled on the floor. He was still holding her while laughing.
It’s only now that Mom laughs like this again. Your laughter mixed with insults full of delight.
“It’s a pity I didn’t see him! Did he say I would have accompanied you! It’s good with him!”
She fixed herself and rested her back on the couch.
At least I couldn’t believe what his father said. He let Magnus and I get married even though he had never formally met me. He didn’t judge me based on my background and mistakes because he just wanted Magnus to be happy… not like him.
“That’s why they both have vibes when they marry Magnus! Because the man doesn’t like both of them!”
“It’s true Tita! That’s why I’m angry!” Miranda chuckled beside her.
When we went home to formally announce to Mom and Dad the wedding, Miranda was already on her way to visit me.
I throw a glance in front. I fidget on my seat while waiting for Magnus to come out. Dad asked him to talk outside.
Magnus came home with me to formally say goodbye to Mom and Dad. Nor did it stop Mother and Aira. It held my hand away from the office, to this day I can still hear Aira’s scream. It was full of anger, almost all the employees in the building watched him go nowhere.
