When Qin Chu told him about Jing De's resurrection over the phone, Professor Lu immediately thought back at his experiment with Lin Ya. Years and years ago, they were researching how to bring the dead back to life. However, after testing on hundreds of lab mice, they deemed that their experiment had failed.

This was not a good sign… Lu Yan's watch was solar-powered, so it never turned off on its own. Moreover, this line was never busy, because this was their only method of communication.

This secret method of communication was one of Professor Lu's proudest inventions, and he knew how good it was. Therefore, these beeps really worried him - it meant that Lu Yan's signals were blocked off completely.

There was a reason he told Lu Yan and Qin Chu not to go rescue Huo Mian. It wasn't that he wasn't worried about his own daughter; although she didn't grow up near him, he loved Huo Mian just as much as he loved Lu Yan.

"I'm just about to leave."

"Okay, have you been in contact with Yan?"

"Yes, I thought she went back to C City? Apparently something happened to Mian," Qiao Fei explained calmly.

"So you didn't know that she went to Yunnan?" Professor Lu sighed.

"Yan's in Yunnan?" Qiao Fei was taken aback. Yunnan was quite close to the Bermuda Triangle - why didn't Lu Yan say anything?
