Maybe we should get inside

When they got there, the entire place was decorated, as if an occasion was taking place.

Joy paused and looked back at Maxwell.

"Oh my gosh, this is such a big occasion, what is Goodluck really celebrating and how come I didn't hear about this earlier?

"Maybe we should get inside".

He held her hand, and led her inside.

The first person that walked out of the hall was Mrs Chukwu, she was carrying baby Star and looking so good.

She seem to have gotten over her fear of Cancer, then beside her came her husband.

Joy was worried that they would be angry with her, so she didn't know how to react, she went to them and knelt down.

Mummy I am so sorry, I didn't come to help, I didn't know about the occasion".

Maxwell didn't need to tell them what to do, they already know he wants it to be a surprise.

"Don't worry dear, we didn't involve you, because Maxwell didn't want you to stress, I guess we are the ones that can actually stress ourselves out".

Joy felt all the more bad.

"I am really sorry, please where is Amanda, she must be angry with me, she didn't even take my call, when I was calling earlier".

She was directed to a closed door, that leads to the hall, and there stood Amanda.

She looked so good, more like a Queen.

Joy exclaimed.

She forgot all about her fears that her friend must be angry with her, and she just paused to admire her.

"Now that is one babe that is eating her man's money".

Maxwell came behind her, and she could not agree less.

Her dress is worth millions.

Goodluck off course is looking so charming with his tailored suit, but when they turned to face her, they had a bright smile.

Amanda rushed to hug her.

"You look fabulous".

Amanda tells her, but she thinks she is trying to make her feel good, but she was feeling really small, compared to what Amanda is wearing.

"Your dress is great, I mean it screams wealth".

Amanda smiles, in agreement, she nodded her head, she also felt that way, when Goodluck got it for her.

You know how Goodluck likes to spend money, I also think it's too expensive, but he insists we get it, anyways, tonight is not really about me".

"Yes I was about to ask you, Maxwell says Goodluck is celebrating some thing, but I can only see family members here, where are other people?

Amanda would have spill the bin, if she didn't speak about not knowing what is happening.

"Well, speaking of everyone, look behind you".

Joy is shocked that her people were also there, she started feeling a strange feeling that Maxwell didn't tell her the truth.

She searched frantically for Maxwell, only to find him at the top demarcation to the ground floor.

He was hitting the glass with a spoon to get the attention of everyone.

" Goodevening every one, may I have your attention please?

Joy is shocked, but the real shock is coming.

Every other person turned to face him and the hall fell into a grave like silence.

I don't know if I can really do this.

Since I started planning this with my family, I have been practicing how I am going to make this public, still I don't ever get the right line, but now, I am going to say it how it comes to my mind".

Joy could already suspect that this was no Goodluck party, but she still doesn't think it is about her, she started thinking that he probably opened a new business, and he wants to launch it this way, but then, he continued.

"Why I am standing up here, is so that if she says no, I could just jump from here, and injure myself".

Everyone in the hall laughed including Joy, till she digest what he just said, and looked seriously at him.

He went on his knees with a ring.

It sparkles from where he is, she started breathing hard, she could not control herself, then Amanda and Goodluck help walk her to Maxwell.

"Please marry me Joy.

You have brought so much Joy into my life, and I will be foolish to let you go, let's take this relationship, to the permanent site".

Joy was already there, and she looked at him with tears in her eyes.

She could not believe that he was making a public speech for her.

She looked down at every one he had managed to invite.

She sighed hard.

"I will never say no to you, and you really didn't need to do all of this, because I love you so very much and I have accepted to be your bride long before you even asked.

Yes I will marry you".

Maxwell hugs her, and she kissed him passionately.

The audience started clapping.

Joy took that opportunity to whisper into his ears.

I will punish you my own way".

He knows why she would want to punish him.

She didn't know it was about her, and she had been worried that she was not told earlier.

Finding out that it was deliberate she plans to punish him.

"I would love to see what you have in store for me".

She glared at the ring again and could not be happier.

"I love you Max, you just made me the happiest woman on Earth".

He was so happy, that she is happy, but he thinks her last statement is the other way around.
