His answer made her smile, she was happy indeed, that the man Goodluck speaks so highly of, was also inlove with him.
"I believe you, and he speaks highly of you, he has been through a lot, please just be his father, he has no one, which is why I hate myself for not being there for him, I wish I did what is expected of me back then, maybe things would have turned out differently for me". She said, feeling dejected.
Mr Stone wasn't really expecting her to be the one asking questions and dishing orders, but he liked the fact that she was talking, he needed to only read her to know what she truely felt for his son.
The atmosphere became Intense as silence eluded them, she thought of changing the topic to lighten up the mood, she was good at making people laugh, but tonight wasn't one of such nights, she wanted to get to know this man.
"So what have you found out about my mother's condition?
"Well there is an already established report that I got from the last doctor who treated her, but the part I do not agree with that doctor, is saying she has few months to live when she could live even longer than people with no health issue.
This was a welcome development for Amanda, she was happy to hear this, she hasn't even come to terms with loosing her mother, she thanked her stars she met Goodluck again.
"Oh my God, this is good news, I feel like hugging you right now"
She was truly happy and he could see it, he could also see that she was beautiful, she has a lovely eye and a pointed nose. Her lips were round, and looked like she applied something when there was nothing, she was also fun to be with, she was funny and lively, she wasn't acting as someone who had a problem as big as not knowing the father of her unborn child, but he was sure she must be really worried, and would wish things were different.
Though he still wanted to know what was special about her that his son was still inlove with her even after knowing she was married and even pregnant, if he hadn't studied Goodluck he would have thought he was the father of her unborn child, but he could swear his son would never act rationally towards any issue, he prefers to suffer in silence than show his feelings..
"Well Lukemia is no doubt a deadly disease if I may call it that, but it can well be managed, it cells are usually immature white blood cells, they develop and grow into millions and block others so there is no free flow of the right blood cells therefore there is an overflow of blood which will only make the the person weak, difficulty in breathing won't be left out because imagine when blood cannot circulate well because of some blockage of some sort how would the person breath. Then at other times the blood comes out from the nose." Hearing all the explanation he has for her on the said issue, she confirmed that it was indeed a deadly disease.
"My mother must be suffering a lot" She said out loud, looking back to where they had been coming from, as if she could see her mother there.
"Yes she is, but if I didn't know she was your mother I would have thought that she was his mother"
He said pointing at Goodluck who had come out to meet them at the garden where they were sitting, he was glad to see them talking freely with no long face, he had been worried sick in the room and with Maxwell snoring like he was some pig he just had to leave the room.
"He worries so much, especially when it has to do with you" He told her, and she smiled, to know that someone cares so much for her, only makes her feel special.
Goodluck heard that, and he didn't appreciate his father exposing him like that, he didn't want her to know just how crazy she makes him, even with pregnancy she looked so pretty, she was complaining of been stressed, but she looked even prettier when her hair wasn't well combed, when she has no make up on, when she wears those big shirt, to make her feel free in her growing stomach.
He stood, waiting for an invitation, now that they had seen him, his father should end the discussion, and allow Amanda rest, from such a long trip.
As if reading his mind, his father looked up at him and smiled, then he motioned with his hands for him to come sit with them before he continued with his explantation. Goodluck did not miss that chance, he sat close to Amanda, holding her hands, just to make sure, she was not tensed.
"So like I was saying, I need to run a bone marrow Biopsy"
"What is a bone marrow biopsy?
Amanda asked curiously, she had always thought that when doctor's use ambiguous words to explain something it means the issue is serious.
"That means I need samples of cells from her bone marrow.
She still wasn't getting him right, but she decided to let it go but Mr Stone didn't seem to want to drop it. He wanted to explain better for her to h derstand how he would get blood from her mother's bone marrow, he also wanted to see if she was scared if the needle, he had met people that had gone through the knife before, but are still scared if the needle.
"I will use a needle to draw out some fluid from the marrow of her bone, usually from an area near her hip". Goodluck hate such gross explanation, he knows what his father was playing at, though he has no objection to ur, he knows Amanda must be feeling really worried, her outburst also shows that she was worried.
