Chapter 14
Delilah's POV
.
After that, I called Mr. Hayes again; the moment I had gotten the sim card, I had called him for the first time because he had shown me the way that I had to walk out this well, but I didn't know which direction I should keep my first step.
I was positive that after knowing the first step, I would make my ladder on my own. All the matter was the first step, and at that time, he asked me to call at night.
"Hello, Mr. Hayes, It's me..."
"Delilah, I know. I have now saved your number. I'm glad that you got a personal phone even though I was thinking of gifting you one."
"Oh"
"Now, first install WhatsAppps on your phone. So that I can be sent the information which you needed over there."
"Okay, Mr. Hayes."
"I believe you will get everything that you want at that site. Just go through all the details and then use your target along with a weapon, and yes, don't be over-confident about your skills. Remember that you still have to learn a lot of things."
"I will keep that in my mind.", I said before disconnecting the call. I turned around and found Liam raising both eyebrows after every two seconds with a sly smile.
"Now that the important call has been ended. Tell me what exactly happened between you two?" he asked in an excited tone.
"Nothing! Just sleep.", I said, joining him on his double bed.
"Oh, come on!! Delilah. He was giving you a look that he would eat you the moment he got a hand on you. So, I'm not going to buy that lie of yours. I want the truth."
"When you know that I won't tell you any, then why are you asking?" I asked, installing WhatsAppps on my phone and then logging in it with my new number. The best thing about not having a personal phone was that I knew almost all the numbers of people who were important to me in one way or another. Mom and all our sisters used to share only one phone, that too second hand which my step-mother or dad used to stop using because of any reason.
I dropped a 'Hello' to Mr. Hayes, and just after a few seconds, he sent me the link to the site.
"Please, Delilah. Please, please, please, please tell me what had happened between you two?" Liam whined like a girl. I rolled my eyes and opened the site. At the same time, I started narrating what happened between him and me and also his real identity.
"He is half vampire? I mean the same vampire who drinks blood?" he asked, widening his eyes.
I giggled and nodded my head in YES. "Oh my god! And you were not scared? What if... what if he would have sucked your blood and would have killed you? And... and you were not even prepared for him, you were not even..."
"In 80% of cases, the supernatural creature doesn't harm their soulmate which their god choose for them. And the remaining 20% are sick, and a psycho who hurts the one who is born to love them, and this type of creature doesn't mate. And just like I told you, I'm his soulmate. So, I believe he is among that 80% of supernatural creature who doesn't hurt their soulmate.”
“So, he is good?”
“I can’t say that yet because soulmates are their half and their only weakness. So, they always behave nicely with their soulmate.”
“So, what now?”
“What ‘what now’? It was just a one-night thing. With night, that ended too.”, I replied nonchalantly.
“So, you mean to say that this soulmate thing is not working on you now because you’re away from him and you’re a human?” he asked I couldn’t help recalling what happened a few hours ago. God! His kiss… No doubt I would have begged him to take my virginity if my mind had stopped working even for half an hour. And then what? A big fucking mess? But I couldn’t forget how blunt and straightforward he was about his feelings. I kept recalling his words, his smile, his grin, his dance, his overall gestures, and most importantly, his eyes.
“No. It doesn’t work me in the same way.” I lied and then started checking the site. It was more or less like a list of supernatural creatures with their pictures, powers, the location where they could be found, and crimes. Not that whoever would kill the creature would be rewarded with some amount of money as well.
The reward for the first creature was less than the second one. At the same time, the crime and powers of the first one were less than the second one. I kept scrolling for a while, and it looked like a never-ending list. The more powerful the creatures were at the bottom of the list, the fewer details were given about them. Hell, at some level, just their name was mentioned and the crimes, no details of their pictures and powers.
I stopped wasting time scrolling because Mr. Hayes clearly mentioned me to take the first step rather than jump in front of the most powerful one.
I realized that it was like a game, which was going to get tough with every new level. And there were a lot of hunters in the game who would try to win the game to get rewarded with a prize.
I clicked on my first target, and immediately a pop-up came in front of my eyes about registering my personal details, which would be kept secret, and bank account details in case I would be able to kill the target, and the money will be transferred to that bank.
