CHAPTER 65

How can something be defined as too much? When it hurts too much, the pain begins to feel numb. When too much happiness hurts big time? A song once said, too much love will kill you, and maybe it’s fucking true because that’s how I felt when Levi decided to make it official. I thought that was his official proposal to the hospital, there was more.

"That's all you're wearing?" Rafa asked me when I got out of my unit room.

When I looked around, I saw a lot of clutter because the two of them were getting along well.

I looked at myself from the large mirror. I even caught a glimpse of Yerim who raised an eyebrow as she looked at me. I'm sure she will say something awful again.

"What you're wearing is so disgusting, Rae. I thought you already knew fashion. You are going to an engagement party and you will be engaged yourself. Why are you like that?” Full of irritation she told me and even looked at me from head to toe.

I gasped while still looking at myself. I decided to wear a maxi dress and just put on light makeup earlier before leaving the room.

"Isn't it okay?" I hesitated to question them.

“Maybe it's good in your eyes, Rae because you don't have a sense of fashion. Change that. Sebastian is coming, wait for him.” Rafa answered so I was even more frustrated.

"I don't have anything to wear—"

“Now there is. Here,” Sebastian interrupted what I was about to say when he suddenly appeared behind Rafa.

I quickly looked at it and immediately saw the large box he was holding. He shrugged and handed it to me so my forehead furrowed.

"What is this?"

“Levi sent it to me. Wear it,” he told me with a smile.

Embarrassed, I took it from him. I also noticed Yerim and Rafa approaching me quickly when I opened the box. It's a red long evening gown with a very exposed back. The slit of it is up to the legs and it's an off-shoulder. The style is v-neck and I’m sure it will hug my body.

“Put it on! Hurry! We might be late for that,” Yerim hurried to me before I complained.

I grabbed that box and went back to my room to change. When I finally put it on, it was only then that I saw the real beauty of that gown. That’s exactly right for me so I almost fall in love with myself as I look at it in front of the mirror. I was right because it hugged my body well but I wasn't sure if I would be comfortable because my chest was sticking out.

“Rae! Faster!" I heard Yerim shout outside.

I bit my lower lip so hard and stared at myself for a while. I'm tall so it looks good now that I'm wearing it. I let my hair fall down to my waist and also wore heels that matched the color of this gown. Then I hesitated to go out.

Yerim and Rafa focused their gaze on me. They raised their eyebrows and had strange smiles on their lips.

"What?" I asked them. “I'm not really used to it. Who chose it and too— ”

“Levi chose that of course. He knows what dress will suit you even your size, huh? That gown is a bomb, Rae,” Rafaella uttered and approached me quickly.

She fixed something behind me so I let it go.

“Wow! We don't recognize you anymore, Rae. It seems like only recently, you look like an old woman who has an awful fashion sense. Now, you look like a queen,” Yerim teased me so I just ignored it.

We argued for a while because my chest was exposed and my back was very exposed but eventually, I did nothing. We were about to go outside the condo unit when Levi suddenly call. Disgusted, I answered that.

"Where are you? Won't you even pick me up?” I could no longer hide the irritation in my voice.

“I’m sorry, Rae. I can't pick you up today. Our daughter won’t let go of me,” he said on the other line. “How is it? I wanna see you right now. I miss you,” he added so I almost laughed.

It's been a few weeks since they got out of the hospital and the proposal happened when Ria woke up. We decided to go home and get well when the doctor said that they were both fine. That same night, Levi ordered everyone including his mommy the preparation for our engagement party so I did nothing. I still think about the fight he had with his dad and now I still don't see it because I heard he left for an event at his former camp. He was the guest speaker for the awarding.

"We were just together before, don't be OA," I told him with a laugh before getting into Sebastian's car.

Rafa was in the passenger seat and Yerim was next to me in the backseat. Sebastian is the driver.

“I still miss you. I can’t wait to see you. Why did you even prepare there? It's fine here at Casa,” he said annoyed so I just shook my head. I even bit my lower lip to stop myself from grinning.

At Casa de Acuzar, the said party will be held so I know the whole clan of Acuzar is there now except for his dad. I had planned to just fix it there but the two of them didn't let me because they wanted a surprise so I left Casa with the.

"I want to surprise you," I said softly to him and turned to Yerim who was also talking on the phone.

I heard Levi's grin on the other line so I knew someone else was on his mind again. This man’s mind is really dirty sometimes.

“I love surprises especially when it’s you. The event is about to begin, please, take care. I love you. I’ll wait for you here,” he said goodbye to me so I just nodded then I ended the call.

I put my cell phone back in the pouch and turned to Yerim who was just silent while looking out the window. I can tell she has a problem. I felt that so I couldn’t help but push her softly so she could look at me.

"Are you alright? Where is Lucas? ” I asked, making her look away from me.

It folded to the side and lazily sighed.

“He seems to be just chasing. He’s always busy, Rae. I don’t even know what else he is busy with, all I know is that his office hours are over,” she answered me seriously.

I took her hand and hugged her arm. Yerim is a happy-go-lucky person. It's often jolly, especially with other people so only Rafa and I know when there's a problem.

“At least, he can follow. It’s still an effort. This is my night, Ye. If he can't comply, let him. Rafa and I are here,” I comforted her.

It was a long time before she answered. The next thing I heard was her violent sigh and her laying her head on my head.

“I’m happy for you, Rae because you’ve found the person you can be with for life. I hope you don't break down again. I’m rooting for your happy ending,” she genuinely said to me so I nodded.

I hope so. That is also my request. It's been a long time. This is Levi. The first time I met him, it never entered my mind that we would reach this point. I thought we would be strangers to each other. I thought he chose to forget me then when he left with Hoseah. I thought then we would never meet again but I was wrong.
