CHAPTER 77
"We'll go after you," Levi said.
Maxim simply nodded at him while Jaxon tapped his shoulder. They just greeted me before deciding to leave.
I can feel the nervous in my heart. I feel anxious while thinking I couldn’t do it. I was so nervous that even though we were close to Casa de Acuzar, I thought I shouldn't go and just leave. I even tried to offer that to him again but he never really agreed.
If there is a need to face his mom and dad, I would. But I also don’t want to hurt them more so I’d rather stay here. To my great confusion, I even needed Levi for him to base my decision on.
At the nth time, he said we should go so we did. Even though I was afraid of getting hurt, it was Levi who said it and if anything happened, he was there to mediate.
When we entered the mansion, we were greeted by a deafening silence. The faint sound of birds chirping and footsteps of who I could hear could be heard.
We all arrived at their long dining table. Maxim and Jaxon, Celine and their other close cousins are already there but Acel is not there. Aunt Criselda was on the left side of the table near her husband in the middle sitting. There is still a bandage on the head but you can see that the condition is fine.
Celine sneezed and then everyone became even quieter. Levi dragged the chair beside him. They were watching us so I almost swallowed the ground.
I am terribly nervous. My heart is pounding so hard. I sat down and immediately felt the mistake of coming here. It's only here that I feel like I shouldn't be here. I can't be here.
Levi then went to his mother. He kissed her forehead. Aunt Criselda quietly accepted that while he just hugged his dad slightly. I even noticed his mom turning to me so I stiffened in my seat. In my fear I immediately avoided looking at her.
“I heard what happened,” Levi’s dad began.
I saw everyone look at him for a moment. Even I was surprised there. Maxim and Jaxon had already said that the memory of it had returned but I was still surprised. I do not know why. Maybe because he said he knew what had happened. Who told him? Also, of all the things that happened, which of those did he know? Or does he already know everything?
“I will choose to fix everything along with my family, dad,” Levi coldly said to his father.
I can’t get it out of my mind that I’m so quietly sitting now just because of him. That without him I would not be able to cope. I rolled my eyes at everyone and I noticed that they also seemed to be waiting for what would happen. Why do they even send me here?
“We’re not asking you to leave your family for this matter, Levi. Where is my granddaughter?” His dad told him in his baritone voice.
I saw some of them turn their eyes on me. I took a deep breath and just examined the food.
"She's with Acel for the mean time while we fix the things that need to be fixed," Levi said with no hesitation.
Aunt Criselda glanced at me.
"I hope I can see her before this day ends," his dad added.
I saw Levi's gaze turn to me and my food. The two of us looked at each other. I knew immediately what he was thinking even though he hadn’t said it yet.
“You don’t like rices for breakfast, right?” He asked.
Everyone is watching. Aunt Criselda also stared at us and I could feel the tension there. Levi just asks me but I feel like that’s not possible.
"It's okay," I replied because I didn't want to bother anymore.
He nodded. I bent down again and stared at my food. I am ashamed of the attention everyone is giving to me.
When I looked up again, Aunt Criselda's gaze met mine. That gaze dropped to my hands holding a spoon and fork. My heart pounded with excitement. Especially when I guessed what she was looking at.
It was my engagement ring. Both the jewelries Levi gave me were on that hand. Even though they knew about our wedding plans, I still couldn’t help but be misled. I know that his mom thinks differently about me.
“You have a beautiful family and I don’t want my granddaughter to be affected of the past. You should fix yours and I will fix mine,” Uncle Saldy said.
At first, I didn’t understand the last thing he said but when I realized that I just smiled and nodded to myself. When I simply glanced at Aunt Criselda she was just bent over, she was not moving the food and was just looking at it.
That quiet breakfast ended. Celine and Maxim were still trying to talk to me because they noticed I almost didn’t want to linger in the Casa. If it wasn't for Levi I wouldn't be here.
“Are you okay, Rae? I’m sorry about what happened,” Celine approached me and handed me a tea. When I smelled it, I just smiled.
"It's okay, I understand everything," I replied hesitantly.
“Take Ria for a walk here. I miss her a lot. Please?” She added that I just nodded before Maxim finally approached us.
“What is your plan? Care to tell us?” She immediately asked me a question so I winced.
Even I didn’t know what was on Levi’s mind. He said nothing else if everything would not be fixed. He did not say if we would leave this place.
“I don’t know. Levi won’t tell me,” I answered her.
That was my only brief interaction with them. Each of them talked about another topic so I turned to Levi. His hand rested on my thigh to get my attention.
“Let’s go?” He asked.
I just nodded at his decision. It's going to be noon but I don't know the time. I can’t deny that even though I was almost statuesque too much so he was still able to talk to everyone.
“We have to go. Maybe we'll spend the night on the flight,” Levi said together.
His mother looked at him with pure longing to her beloved son. Levi crouched to kiss his mother’s forehead. I saw her close her eyes and could feel her son kissing her. When she looked up, she was already smiling, but when she looked up at me, her smile disappeared.
I stood up and just avoided looking at her. I ate peacefully here with them but that didn’t mean I was accepted right away. This is only a step. I don’t know how many steps are there but my decision will stay the same.
"I will call," Levi said to his mother.
She nodded at him. He turned to his father.
"Thanks, dad," he uttered.
After saying goodbye to others, he turned to me again.
"Let's go," said Levi.
I slowly nodded. Maxim and Celine turned to me. I just averted my eyes from them and turned to Levi. He claimed my hand slowly as we walked out of the mansion. We only looked away again when we heard his mother softly calling to him.
"Levi," she called.
We both turn to see her. It is already standing. There was a streak of concern on the face.
"I want to see my granddaughter," she laughed on her lips, almost whispering the last word.
I smiled. Somehow, this is what I like about apologizing and forgiving. It gives you a peaceful heart after all of the chaos.
