Earlier that day...
As Lia happily tended to the animals at her work, all she could think about was Lazzáro and how happy she was that he had found out the whole truth, that he had a chance to recover, that they were together without barriers now, and how she loved him so much that until my chest hurt. Coupled with that, he also couldn't ignore the tightness in his chest that he had been feeling since the break of day. I had a bad feeling that only increased by the moment.
— Lia, can you order the products for me today? Michael asked avoiding eye contact with her.
- Clear. The young woman just nodded. — Where is the paper?
- Here. He handed her a clipboard with everything missing.
Lia finished with the animals inside and went to the reception where she had the computer to start typing. As he did so, he began to feel his legs getting weak, an emptiness in his stomach to the point where his eyes darkened. Taking a deep breath, she leaned against the bench until it passed, something that took almost two minutes.
His mind went haywire as he realized that his suspicions were being proven by themselves every day. Ten days ago, Lia noticed the delay in her menstrual period, cramping in the uterus, breast pain, nausea and constant sleep. She wasn't silly not to know what it was and that's why on her lunch break she would go to the nearest pharmacy to buy some pregnancy tests.
I was tense about it, of course. But what to expect from people who have unprotected sex? Pregnancy. Or maybe it's not even that, the worst thing is the illnesses but at the moment she didn't want to think about bad things, and a baby wasn't something bad, not for her who knew who the father was and was absolutely certain that he would be happy with it . Deep down she was yearning for that, for a part of Lazzáro – the love of her life – inside her. It would be endless bliss.
After the vertigo passed, he finished making the orders and went to his lunch break, eleven in the morning. As she walked to the pharmacy Lia looked around at the families playing in the town square, mothers and fathers alone with their babies, the joy and smiles were the purest she had ever seen before and it only made her wish she was pregnant expand.
A few minutes later there she was. Lia was sitting on a stool given by the pharmacist while she cried liters, her hands shaking, her heart racing, listening attentively to the woman's explanations.
— Now you need to calm down... Drink this water, it will help you. - the girl said helping her.
— Are you sure that two lines is positive? he managed to ask.
- Yes. These three tests gave two little lines, you are pregnant. But for one hundred percent certainty, a blood test must be done. Do you feel better? Leah nodded.
- Thanks. She wiped away her tears, barely believing that a baby was starting to grow inside her.
The mixture of feelings that began to take hold inside her were indescribable, so good and pure that they almost managed to nullify the grip from earlier. The happiness added to the love he felt for Lazzáro gave meaning and the beginning of a great feeling there. A mother's love.
After calming down and making the payment for what he had bought, he walked back to work, but he couldn't arrive in time before bumping into a male body. The body froze.
"Look who showed up." Hayden exclaimed loudly, preventing her from taking another step. The girl looked at him scared.
During those two weeks, she tried to flee from him like the devil flees from the cross, but that day he managed to find her and worse, he already knew everything. Nádia had followed Lazzáro to Magdalena's house when she went to reconcile with Lia and saw them together, thus making the whole conversation between the young woman and Hayden in the restaurant a lie.
—Hayden. - pronounced with fear - I'm in a hurry. She tried to dodge him but was stopped.
“I was also in a hurry to see you sixteen days ago.
“That's not my problem.
- Oh no? — he mocked — Do you really think I wouldn't discover your lie? His eyes were pure hate.
- Leave me alone. I need to go. - the tone of voice frightened by the way the boy was altered there.
"You're not going anywhere but with me!" — Hayden took Lia's arm hard and shook her — Get in the car, don't shout, don't do anything suspicious or your dear Magdalena could pay for it.
Leah shivered.
“Please don't do anything to her. Where is she? she asked tearfully.
- In her house. That's where we'll go. Settle accounts.
Afraid for Magdalena, Lia had to obey Hayden and get into the car without giving any indication that she was being forced to do so. The whole way was in silence, she was very, very afraid, her heart was racing and there she understood the bad feeling she had been feeling since she woke up.
- Get out of the car. I already know you don't have a cell phone, so there's no risk of notifying anyone. — so she did, she left and ran into the house, but she didn't find Magdalena.
“Where is she?” You said she was here! she exclaimed furiously and worriedly.
- Shut up. Don't yell at me, you idiot! He pushed her so she fell onto the sofa in the living room.
- Where is she?! Lia shouted again. I was terrified.
“It's not here, you idiot. My problem is with you and bloody Lazzáro. Now you're going to call him and tell him to come over here, pick up the phone. he ordered approaching her who flinched immediately.
- I will not do it. I don't know what you're trying to do, so no. - She objected, arousing the anger of the man who was upset.
"Call right now!" He reached out to grab a vase, breaking it on the floor right after.
- No! — he protested again — Why do you hate Lazzaro? Why do they want to destroy it so badly? What did he do for you? he asked in a choked voice.
She would never ask her love to go there, she couldn't put his life at risk, Hayden was capable of anything. If they already tried to kill him with poison and it didn't work, what would he do now that he was crazy about the plan not working, or rather, about Lia Hamilton having spoiled the plan.
“Because he's a spoiled imbecile who never knew how to appreciate what his father left him. What need did he have to build his own empire with his own name when he already had his father's?! He doesn't need more money, what did it cost to leave my mother all that? My mother was his wife! Indignation was stamped in Hayden's words and tone of voice.
“That's no reason to hate someone and want to kill them. Just as he got everything he has, you could have gotten it too if you'd put in the effort and not wasted time trying to steal something that isn't yours or trying to kill someone. he vented in Lazzaro's defense.
He brought both hands to his face when Hayden slapped his face, he was furious. Lia began to cry softly but she didn't intend to lower her head to him.
“You're such a coward you'd hit a pregnant woman. You are a monster, your mother and Nadia are snakes of the worst kind! exclaimed the girl, swallowing her sobs.
- You are pregnant? — he widened his eyes in shock — But it is now that Lazzaro will really pay me dearly. If he cares about you and this baby, he'll give me all the money that rightfully belongs to me.
“You have no rights, Hayden. You're not his real brother, stop lying. - Lia already tired murmured.
“That's enough of this shit, Lia! Either you call Lazzáro now and have him show up here or I'll order someone to kill him where he is! — she didn't quite believe him.
But she needed to get him to calm down or he would do something worse to her, not so much for herself as for the baby that was now growing in her belly and even though she didn't know him or it had only been an hour since she found out, there wasn't anything she didn't want. was able to do for him.
“There's only one phone upstairs. he hissed.
“Then let's go there. He pulled her by the arm and they went upstairs to an old telephone in the hall. - Call.
Lia then picked up the phone and started dialing the number she already knew by heart, meanwhile tears were spilling all over her face. She was on the verge of committing a madness, but at least she would try.
So when Lazzáro answered, she said in a very low voice: Hi, it's me. Please don't come to Magdalena's, Hayden found out and he's here.
As she quickly put the phone back on the cradle, she felt Hayden's glare burn her skin, she had no choice but to try to flee. In this way, he ran down the stairs in an attempt to reach the door before it was too late.
