For hours they stayed embraced in that hospital bed. Lazzáro still couldn't say much because of the medication and anesthesia he had to take, but he didn't have to because his heartbeat spoke for him. Lia didn't let go of him, she didn't want to and couldn't do that when she felt too much the weight of the sensation of being without him, she had the need since then to prolong any touch to his love.
- I love you so much. - she said caressing his face after a long time in silence.
She was anxious to tell him about the pregnancy, but it wasn't the time, she had in mind that he could barely move, maybe he still didn't understand what she was going to say, so she decided to wait until he recovered.
Her mistake, he was understanding everything, feeling everything and his silence was only caused by the anesthesia, but soon it would pass and he could finally say how much he loved her and how he was willing to die a thousand times for her without hesitation.
— Good morning... — a doctor came in smiling.
- Good morning. - Lia replied smiling with her hand intertwined in Lazzaro's fingers.
— Are we going to do some tests, Senhor Bartholomeu?
The young woman got up and stood beside the bed while the sleeping Lazzáro had his blood drawn.
— In half an hour a nurse will come to give him his medicine. But if he wakes up before, press the button and someone will come.
“Okay, thanks.
As soon as the doctor withdrew, the door was opened again by Marjorie who came in euphoric with the face of someone who had just found out what happened.
“Hi, are you okay?” The lawyer walked over to Lia, taking her hands, dividing her gaze between her and Lazzáro on the bed.
“As far as possible, yes.
- It's him?
"It's getting better, I hope."
"Why didn't anyone tell me about this?" She looked shocked.
"I had no way of warning..." she explained.
— I was with my brother sorting out some things about the Lazzáro case. I knew something bad was going to happen, it seems I was sensing it.
“Hey, calm down. The worst has gone. — the young woman hugged the woman who didn't know whether to tell Lia the news or not.
Feeling the girl's affection she decided she would speak. She deserved to know.
“Hayden ran away, Lia. They still haven't managed to catch him. — walked away.
The girl began to feel fear growing inside her. What if he came after another revenge? Did Hayden know that Lazzaro hadn't died?
"It can't be... The police have to find him." He is dangerous. Putting a hand to her face, she felt the dread she was trying to hold back over her.
“Our entire team is working on it. There are police here at the hospital, you are safe. At least Nadia, Joyce and the doctors who took bribes to lie about his illness are now in prison. A part of Lia sighed in relief.
- Thank God. I hope they catch Hayden soon... I'm scared. By him. He looked at his love who hadn't woken up yet.
- Everything will be fine. Like I said, you're safe, trust me. he said, giving the girl a sincere look.
“I will trust.
— If he didn't want revenge on that bastard so much, this wouldn't have happened Lia. At the same time that we discovered their plan, if he had let me continue with the arrest warrant, we would have avoided a lot. But no, he had to want to take Hayden with his bare hands. At least Nadia and Joyce got what they deserved out here.
"What happened to them?"
“I had them groomed before they went on their endless vacation in prison.
Lia had kindness in her heart, but at that moment she couldn't help but smile in triumph. They had done much worse to an innocent man and if she didn't find out in time, who knows if he would still be alive?
“It doesn't hurt to feel good about it. Everyone gets what they deserve. - Marjorie said realizing that Lia was even afraid to smile at the misfortune of others.
Even though they deserve it.
- You are special. Very smart and good, watch out for the world, it's full of mean people. Often, thinking only of ourselves is not selfish. Thank you so much for helping my friend, when this stubborn guy wakes up, tell him if you can. Until later. The lawyer gave a bright smile that was returned with affection.
When she was gone, Lia was truly touched by all of Marjorie's words and would follow her advice.
The hours passed slowly, the doctor came back to give the results of the exams along with the nurse who gave Lazzáro some medication. Everything was fine, there was no more risk. He, in turn, was still sleeping, which was already starting to worry Lia, who every minute went there to check his breathing, his heart and steal a kiss from his numb lips.
It was five in the afternoon when she, already tired of walking from one place to another, sat down in a chair. Magdalena had gone there to see them and then went to the mansion to take care of everything, she felt the obligation to do that even though the owner wasn't there. Lia also asked her to take care of her kittens as she didn't intend to leave Lazzáro's side anytime soon. The lady reluctantly accepted, not because she didn't want to take care of the little animals but because she wanted Lia to go home to sleep a little and eat right. Which was certainly not accepted by the girl.
"Will he wake up at what time?" — she asked smoothing her belly communicating with her son — I can't wait for him to find out about your existence... I already love you so much... — he felt his heart increase in size at the thought of a child running around the house with a giggle hot — Are you going to be a boy or a girl? Your father is the most beautiful man in the world to me, I want you to be our little mix. He once said he liked my hair... So I want him to have curly hair like mine...
- Speaking alone? - Lazzáro's voice took over the environment making all the hairs on her body stand on end.
"Am I dreaming or did you really wake up and you're talking to me?" - euphoric Lia got up and started to walk to the bed.
"It's a dream... Wake up... Wake up..." he joked making tears roll down her face.
- Oh my God! She wrapped her hands around his neck and hugged him, her chest bouncing with joy.
"Who were you talking to?" he asked curiously.
She got nervous, it wasn't quite like how she dreamed of telling him that she was pregnant, but she couldn't put it off any longer. So, lost not knowing what to say, she was simply sincere.
— With our son who is in my belly at four weeks and one day. she said feeling her chest rise and fall anxious for his reaction.
"Are you pregnant, my love?" he asked, his eyes shining in disbelief and at the same time afraid it was a joke.
- Yes. The girl bit her lip, unable to contain her emotion.
— Do you swear? — the heart of the man that once almost stopped beating, increased in size, now seeming more alive than ever.
- Interest. I found out yesterday. Are you happy? He nodded, still taking it all in.
Incredulous, happy, thrilled, surprised.
“I've always wanted to have a child. I thought I would die without knowing what the feeling was like and if it was to want to be around forever even though it took seconds for me to discover his existence. It's the best feeling in the world.
They embraced carefully, smiling, happy at last. The love that filled those hearts overflowed, it was unique in their lives, they loved each other with all the strength of their existence.
- I'm sorry for all. she said suddenly.
"Apologize for what?" — his look confused.
"You took a bullet for me...
“I would take as many shots as it took for you. From the beginning I was always willing to do anything for you not to suffer, you were always the greater good. - The words touched deep in her soul, causing her a painful and good feeling.
"I love you, I love you so much!" I couldn't say anything more than that at the moment. But it was all he needed to hear.
Lia had only one unfinished business to tell Lazzáro, about Hayden. But he didn't want to spoil the moment of love between the two, so he would leave it for later. Hoping that he wouldn't screw up anything else in their lives.
