CHAPTER 47 - THE SAVING GRACE
After hearing the last word from her mother or should she say the Moon Goddess Diana was beyond speechless. She doesn't know if she should be disappointed for choosing her mission or be glad about it.
"My child, you are thinking too much did you just forget I watch everything you do as well?" Her mother grabbed her hand.
"I'm sorry I was just overwhelmed with all the information. Now I don't even know what to call you anymore." Diana looked on the ground.
"Diana, I'm still your mother, nothing has change. I may be the Moon Goddess with a mission but my love for you and your twin stays the same. Now tell me what is in your mind?" Leto tilted her daughter’s head up.
"Why didn't you stay human and come back for us or at least for Apollo? We need you to be by our side, to guide and protect us." Diana finally voiced out her thought.
"I was left with no choice if I will be human I can't protect you against Hades and I can't let that happen." Her voice became stern.
"If it's true then why didn't you save Apollo from Hades after you died?” She has a disappointed tone.
"Because everything happens for a reason my child, if I saved Apollo from Hades are you sure your brother will be alive considering Hades tried to raise him to use in finding you?
“Why did you allow my rejection? You are the Moon Goddess after all!" Diana’s voice went a little loud.
At some point Diana knew she was disrespecting her mother/Moon Goddess but she but I can't help it.
“If the rejection didn't happen you will not be able to meet the greatest treasure that you’re carrying now." She sat beside me.
"Yes you are right I am the Moon Goddess but my power comes with limitation just like everybody else." Her statement laced with authorities.
"I guess I got it from your point of view it was rude of me to misbehave in front of you. I'm sorry for my outburst Mom I didn't mean it." Diana finally lowered her voice.
"You don't need to apologize my child, my explanation is long way overdue and you owe to know it. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me the most." She hugged her daughter.
"No you're wrong Mom, you were there to warn Apollo in every vision he have. You appeared in my dream the day I was rejected, the circumstances might be different but you never left us." Diana hugged her back.
"I will never leave you and Apollo just like I do with every wolf out there. You are all my children and I dearly love you." Leto comforts her daughter.
"I love you too Mom." Diana allowed myself to cry on her shoulder.
"If you don't stop crying my room will turn to a river." Her mother joked.
"It's only an illusion so it's safe to cry." Diana stuck her tongue out.
"Yeah you got me there." She joins in.
"I can't believe I'm talking to a Moon Goddess this way. I mean you're joking and way too cool I thought you are a stiff and an emotionless Goddess." Diana giggled.
"I was once human and I'm definitely your mother. The way you act and talk are the common things we have aside from hunting. You are strong, feisty and persevering child while Apollo is kind, cheerful and sometimes jealous but both of you are goal-achiever and wise in your own way. I'm so proud of what you and Apollo had become." Her mother’s eyes beamed with happiness.
"I'm glad I had the chance to be here with you Mom. I wish Apollo could join us and we are going to be a one happy family." Diana kissed her mother’s cheek.
The word family got Diana stopped and she remembered what happened to her during the battle. The images of the pack fighting with the rouges while Marcel and Minerva fights with her and then there was Tyrone who was captured including her parents.
"Are you thinking about what happened to them?” Her mother broke the trance.
"Did Hades die?" Diana whispered the last word.
"Yes he is. It’s all over my child.” Leto announced.
“If the battle is over then why does your face show defeated?” Diana studied her mother.
“The time has come for me to pass my responsibility." Her mother’s tone turned serious.
"Don't tell me you're dying because you are literally dead -- you're dead already." Diana began rambling.
"You are so silly.” Her mother laughed softly.
“Mom I’m confused, tell me.” Diana eagerly said.
“What I meant was giving up my Moon Goddess title to you." Her mother clarified.
"Is this what Apollo told me that he can't tell?" Diana stuttered in surprise.
"Yes and I'm here giving you choice to accept it or not." She confirmed.
"Why?" Diana creased my eyebrows.
"I have seen all your sacrifices and sufferings from the day you got rejected so take it as reward for defeating Hades and his people." Her mother stated proudly.
"What will happen to me if I accept it or choose the latter?" Diana waited her moth’s reply.
"If you choose to accept the responsibility, the power of immortality will be yours. In exchange you need to give up your human body and everyone else but the good thing about it is that - you will be able to watch them just like I do." Her Mom gave an encouraging statement.
"I will die by full moon to save our child anyway so I guess it leaves me with no choice but accept it." Diana frowned.
"You haven't heard the other condition yet." Leto made me her daughter think for a moment.
"What's the other option?" Diana probed.
"If you refuse you will return to your family without any werewolf abilities. You will get immune to sickness and experience being human completely and this involves your mate. I can't guarantee you both will live longer but you’ll be able to see your child grow." She gestured her finger.
"If I will be human does my son's life is compromise too?" Diana suddenly felt anxious.
"Don't fret my child, my grandchild is not included in your decision and I'm not going to put my grandson in that position." Her Mom grabbed Diana’s hands.
"Thank you Moon--I mean Mom." Diana placed her head on her mother’s shoulder.
"I will leave you to think about your heart desires. Whatever the decision is I will support you." She kissed her forehead and left.
Minutes later Diana was back at the white beautiful field and saw a silver haired woman with blue eyes like she has.
"Artemis?" Diana recognized her.
"The one and only." She smiled warmly.
"Thank God you're here I need your advice." She hugged her wolf but this time Artemis is on human form.
"That's why I'm here to help you." Artemis sat beside her.
After their conversation, Diana was ready to face the consequences that it has to offer. Diana told her mother about her decision and told her she was proud of her choice.
