Chapter 22

Hunter POV

The next day I woke up early because I had prepared a surprise for Linnea. She has not totally recovered but somehow her energy is slowly returning and hopefully it will continue.

I chose to do it in the pool area because the place here is beautiful, cozy and very refreshing and I know she would feel better. One of my maids approached me and whispered that she was awake. I immediately went in to go to my room and pick her up.

When I entered the room she had just come out of the bathroom, she gave me a sweet smile when she saw me.

"Goodmorning." She greeted me.

I walked closer to her. "How are you feeling?" I ask.

"I feel better now unlike yesterday."

"Good to hear that, come and I prepared breakfast for you." I led her out of the room.

When we got to the pool area I could see the amazement in her eyes and she even cover her mouth to what she was seeing now.

"Is this for me?"

I nodded. "How was it? Do you like it?" I ask.

"I love it."

I took the bouquet I bought earlier and gave it to her. "For you."

She accepted it with a smile. "Thank you for this Hunter."

I helped her sit at the table with food prepared and then I sat on the other side in front of her .

"What’s going on? Why are you suddenly like this?"

"Nothing, I just thought I'd make up for you because it took me so long to save you." I said and fitted food to her plate.

"You don't need to do this, it's not your fault, the important thing is that you already saved me."

"I also thought that if I hadn't forced you into my life this thing wouldn't have happened to you, you wouldn't have experienced what you are experiencing now. And your life would have been as happy and normal as it used to be. If I could turn back time I would not have let all this happen. " I said seriously.

I was surprised when she took my hand. "You don't have to be guilty of what happened to me because I know you didn't like it either. Even if we didn't get to know each other well, I'm still happy and grateful. You saved me for how many times already. At first I thought you didn't really care about other people, so when your helpers and other staff told me how much you care about them, I didn't believe it at firs, but in the few months I've been with you here in your mansion I can say that you're not really a bad person. "

I just smiled at what he said, then I thought I would never feel like this again, I would no longer care about others but that all changed when I met her.

We just talked while eating. I hope we can stay like this forever but I know it will not happen as of now knowing that Aiden is still here.

Fastforward

Linnea has finally healed and the wounds on her face and the thief have disappeared, for which I am very grateful. While she was left at home, I went into the office because I also had a lot of work left and needed to finish.

Linnea also asked me several times about the necklace she was wearing because she thought I gave it to her, at first I didn't want to say it but later I also admitted to her the truth. I thought she would go back to being anxious when she found out but I was surprised when she just smiled. I also asked her if she was not afraid of what might happen and the only thing she always said is that she trusted me that I would still save her again and again.

Today we are sitting side by side on the sofa, it's Saturday so I don't have work so we just decided to do a movie marathon.

"You know what Hunter, I haven't seen you laugh since I met you, but I already saw you smile for how many times.” she opened up.

"Is that a big deal? I’m not used to those things. If I laugh without any reason some people will think that I am crazy.” I said.

"There's nothing wrong with laughing or smiling all the time, it reduces stress.”

"Even if I laugh or not I'm still handsome." I kissed her and she smiled.

"Ahm, by the way Hunter I invited Ciara here to the house. Is it okay? We haven't seen each other for a long time." she said.

"You don't need to ask permission, she can come here anytime." I said.

"What time is she going?" I asked..

"Maybe she’ll be here any minute. She told me she'll just go to work for a while because she needs to sign something, then she'll go straight here."

I nodded and turned my attention back to what we were watching as something entered my mind.

"You can go back to your work Linnea." I said seriously.

"I'm at work, you told me I'm working for you. I just don't know what kind of job because you didn’t give me anything."

"What I mean is your past work." I will clarify..

I saw the sadness on her face. "Why? Are you pushing me away now? Am I not allowed to stay here? Is that what you want to say?"

"It's not that crazy. All I'm saying is you can go back to your work if you want. I know how you love your work since the day you started following me, you risked your life just to find out about my illegal business. " I explained to her.

"You're right, I really love my job because I've been there for a long time. Being a newscaster helped me survive so it was hard for me when I resigned."

"That's why I'm allowing you to go back there." I said.

But she just shook her head.. "When I come back it will be a hassle for you. I don't want you to not be able to concentrate on your work."

"What do you mean?"

"Hunter, I know that's not really what you want. You really don't want me to go back to work. Because when that happens I'll be able to burden you. I know our problem isn't over yet, like this necklace in my neck. My life is still in danger because Aiden is still there and I don't want you to think or worry when I'm not here at home. "

I didn’t speak anymore because I understood her point. I couldn’t help but smile because of what I heard from her. Now it feels like I’m important to her because she thinks of me, she thinks of the problem we’re facing and she doesn't want to add more.
