Chapter 11 Maybe It Was God's Will
Lynn looked at Silas with red eyes. This man was always so eye-catching. He had no shortage of appearance, family background, talent, character, and ambition. She had liked him since she was a child. To her, Silas was a ray of light, the one she was always chasing. In fact, many men had confessed to her, but she had never considered changing her liking.
Lynn suddenly had a crazy idea - she must get Silas, even if she has to fight the world.
Silas was upset by Lynn's paranoia. He resented such entanglement, and as for Lynn's love... What was love? Honestly, he couldn't tell the difference. In his heart, he just wanted to stay where he was, live his life in peace, with Ulani, with Aurora.
Finally, Silas asked Jessica Ford, a married female colleague who was on a business trip with him, to take Lynn to the newly opened room to rest.
"I'm not leaving... Silas, I love you." Lynn cried.
Lynn was not on the list of business trips this time.
After confirming that Jessica took good care of Lynn, Silas called Lynn's father and asked him to arrange for someone to pick up Lynn tomorrow.
Mr. Hathaway agreed.
The black leather shoes stepped on the soft carpet, without a trace of movement. After returning to the room, Silas walked to the window and opened a slit, and the cold air was embedded in the room, blowing away his depression.
Silas glanced at the phone screen, it was past 11 o'clock in the evening.
The picture on his phone lock screen was of Aurora and Ulani. Silas stared at the phone screen, nd his eyes softened unconsciously.
Three days later, Aurora received a strange call.
"Hello Ms. Francis, I'm Mr. Gregory's assistant, you can call me Rowan. Oh, well, Mr. Gregory is currently running a high fever, and I heard him call your name unconsciously, so I took the liberty to ask is it convenient for you to come and visit him?" Rowan said helplessly: "We all know that Mr. Gregory cares about you very much."
Aurora was silent for a moment before replying: "I'm sorry to hear that Gregory is sick, but I'm sorry I can't visit him. Has Gregory been treated? I can refer him to a doctor if needed."
Aurora didn't think she had the right identity to visit Gregory. They were like two intersecting lines in mathematics that only drifted apart after they intersected.
"Mommy, what happened? You look so unhappy?" Ulani came to Aurora at some point.
"It's nothing, don't worry." Aurora tapped Ulani's tiny nose.
"I see, Mommy must be missing Daddy." Ulani put his arms around Aurora's neck and said coquettishly, "Ulani misses Daddy too. Mommy, how about we hang out together when Daddy comes back?"
"Where does Ulani want to play?" Aurora asked softly.
"How about going to the planetarium? Daddy will love it," Ulani suggested.
"Then when your dad comes back, talk to him yourself," Aurora said.
"A piece of cake." Ulani smiled.
The next afternoon, When Aurora went out, she saw Gregory's car parked outside the villa, but it wasn't Gregory in the car.
Rowan got out of the car and said, "Mr. Gregory's mother personally came over this morning to bring him back to Princeton. Before leaving, Mr. Gregory asked me to bring you something."
Rowan handed a box to Aurora as he spoke.
Aurora did not pick up.
Seeing this, Rowan said, "Whether you accept it or not, it's my job, I put things here."
Rowan put the box on the ground next to Aurora before leaving.
The wind was cold.
Aurora stood there for a while before bending over and picking up the cardboard box on the ground.
The box contained a ceramic cup with a pair of ceramic dolls nestled on one side of the cup. Although it had been carefully treated, traces of glue could still be seen on the cup.
Aurora didn't need to think back to remember that the ceramic cup was made by herself when she and Gregory went to a handmade pottery shop together when they were in love. They also pinched two dolls, a boy and a girl. Later, in the dispute on the eve of their separation, the cup was shattered by her mistake and shattered into pieces. At that time she thought it was ridiculous, maybe it was God's will.
Apparently, the shards of the cup weren't thrown away as trash, and Gregory glued the pieces back together.
Why bother? What was the point of doing this, Aurora thought?
Aurora threw the cup and the box in the trash before entering the house. In fact, as early as six years ago, the fate of this cup should have been thrown into the trash.
Time passed quickly. Three weeks passed in a twinkling.
On this day, Silas' twin sister Bess gave Aurora two movie tickets. Bess served as the second female lead in this movie, and Aurora took Ulani to watch this sci-fi movie together.
As they left the Cinema, Ulani kept complimenting: "Aunt Bess is so cool, I love her character so much."
"Maybe you can compliment your aunt in person another day." Aurora smiled.
"Of course," Ulani said.
Aurora originally wanted to remind Ulani to pay attention to the road, but Ulani suddenly shouted: "Daddy!"
Aurora looked up and saw Silas standing not far away watching them, a faint smile on his handsome face.
Ulani threw herself into her father's arms.
Silas picked up his daughter and kissed Aurora on the cheek.
The three of them had dinner outside together before returning home.
After returning home, Aurora quickly found Silas's gifts for her and Ulani in the living room.
Silas gave Ulani a set of children's books and a set of Lego sets, and Aurora a luxurious dress and beautiful diamond hairpins.
Silas read with Ulani for an hour in the evening.
Ulani was at a very curious age and often asked some strange questions in the eyes of adults. Fortunately, Silas always had a way to explain her doubts logically. Maybe lawyers did have the advantage of rational thinking in analyzing problems and solving problems, and this made Aurora admire.
While Aurora was doing some work on the computer, Silas went back to the bathroom.
Shortly after Aurora turned off the computer, the sound of water in the bathroom stopped abruptly, and Silas's unique sexy voice came out, "Aura, help me get my clothes."
Aurora looked around and quickly spotted Silas' pajamas.
A moment of doubt flashed in Aurora's mind - Silas is a very strict and self-disciplined person, How could he suddenly forget anything?
But Aurora didn't think much of it. She quickly walked to the bathroom door, waiting for the person inside to open the door to pick up the clothes.
Silas' move caught Aurora by surprise.
The bathroom door suddenly opened, and before Aurora could see what was in front of her, Silas had already grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the bathroom.
The bathroom door slammed shut.
The bathroom was filled with mist, and Aurora's vision was blurry at first.
When the mist dissipated a little, Aurora felt a warm touch on her lips, and it was Silas who kissed her lips.
"Hmm." Aurora opened her mouth to speak, but Silas' warm tongue slipped into her mouth.
Silas' powerful tongue played between Aurora's tongue and teeth.
They could feel each other's body temperature and heartbeat.
