Nine
"Queen, Mila!"
"Is he still here?"
"B--" I clamp my hand over my mouth as soon as I feel my throat burn with what is actually straight vodka.
The man I expected to disappear suddenly grabs my arm, spinning me toward him.
"It's him, it's him, it's him!"
Yes, it was him. The same man who was at the back of the hall, who gave me a death stare, removing my life from my body. And when I say my life, the truth is that at that moment, I reached a very high level of adrenaline, not supporting the energy that my body released. Several people started running towards me and that God, caught me with his arms before I hit the ground.
— Mila!
"Wait...what is that?"
"Wake up, please..."
"Thomas?"
It's not a dream, I hear him call closer than usual.
"Why does my head hurt so much?"
"T-thomas..." I whisper his name, feeling a huge weight in my eyes.
- My queen! -he said nervously, stepping in front of a man in a white coat. -How are you feeling?
I don't answer him, I just try to understand the scenario and the situation I find myself in, still lying down with my eyes a little blurry.
- She is fine! echoed her voice.
Well it was the last thing I was.
“Wh-what's going on? I say trying to sit up.
"You fainted, my love!" - She replied supporting my back.
"Lie, it's not possible that I went through this shame..."
— It is common for alcoholic people to have an increase in frequency, causing fainting, sweating, shivering, nervousness -
"I don't drink, Doctor!" -rebate locking your misdiagnosis.
“Your Majesty, several guests testified to your carelessness when you tipped a glass of vodka in your mouth.
- What? - I'm surprised.
"Thank you for your services, Doctor!" -he intervenes preventing an argument from starting. -I take over now!
— I thank you for your call, my King! - he said bowing. -Don't forget to take her to the hospital to perform the tests.
"Exams?"
- I will not forget! -He is firm, implying that his presence is no longer necessary.
Then he nods and closes his briefcase, heading towards the door.
"Piter, help me dismiss the guests!"
"Is Peter here?"
- Yes my king! - She complied, leaving the dark corner of the wall.
"Wait!" -I ask. -You don't have to break up the party because of me...
- Do not worry. I already got the amount I needed, now I just have to send them away.
"Creed..."
- But -
- Stay here! - ordered. -Benjamin is bringing you some water... -He throws me the name as if I know who he is and then leaves with my security without explaining to me.
"Who's Benjamin?" I ask, but he doesn't hear me.
I sit on the side of the bed wishing that unfortunate headache would go away. I get up, walk this way, walk that way and that guy, plus the atomic bomb in my brain, keep bombarding me in every way they can.
"Is it a man, or a pest?"
At that instant, someone knocks on the door three times causing the sound of machine gun fire in the room.
- GOES INTO! -nervous cry.
The wood opens up and I, with my stupidity, don't even bother to look who it is.
"If you're looking for the King, he just came down to the hall!" -warning, turn.
"I'm not looking for the King...
"This voice..."
Before my embarrassment, I couldn't take a close look at the man in whom a volcano had awakened me, but his voice, that voice, was impossible to forget.
— Y-you... - I slowly turn towards him, feeling that same feeling from before, grow inside me again.
His brow arches and he looks around confused by my reaction.
- I?
"Shit, not again..."
My heart races as if it's being crushed inside my chest. It burns and my hands are cold. I blink several times in a row, sure I was going to pass out again.
“Your Majesty? -He notices that something is wrong and quickly drops the glass of water on top of the nightstand, advancing towards me. His strong hands touch my icy, trembling skin, supporting my arms until I sit back down on the bed.
"He's definitely the problem here!"
- Are you well?
"For God's sake, someone delete this man from my life!"
"Y-yes...no...it's nothing!"
Everything about him seemed to have been meticulously designed and tailored to get anyone excited. Broad shoulders and muscular arms, the design of his beard and his blue eyes, that damn eyebrow and his straight hair with black strands thrown back.
"It doesn't even have a flaw for me to understand that this is an ambush."
- Drink it! -he stretches his muscular arm towards me, holding the same glass he had dropped earlier on the nightstand.
"Hey, when did he come back for the glass?"
— Thank you... - I touch the glass in a great illusory expectation, where I imagine his fingers releasing a smoke with mental powers.
"Do you always pass out after you drink?" - she asked going towards Thomas's favorite armchair.
— N-no, actually, I don't drink... - I mentally judge myself for not being able to say a sentence without stuttering.
"And that vodka?"
"How does he know it was vodka?"
"Your Majesty, you are not going to deny what I saw before my eyes, are you?"
I wanted to understand why your questions come out of your mouth so calmly. Maybe I'm used to orders and have forgotten how polite people can be when they want to be.
"I don't deny it!" - I answer, seeing him roll up his sleeves.
"Don't you deny it?"
"What do you mean, woman?"
"Blink, wake up. At least move!"
Many things attract my attention in a man. Smile, legs, arms, friendliness, the look. Everyone I met had one or two of these traits, however, I had never met someone who could have all of them and play around even a little longer.
I was even mesmerized by seeing him from the back, analyzing his tight pants that impeccably outlined his thick legs and round butt. It was a sin for someone to be this beautiful.
— I don't remember you telling me your name... - I say seeing him come back with the small sofa in his arms.
— I thought you already knew... -he said placing the piece of furniture in front of me.
"Fuck, why does he have to stand so close?"
"Benjamin..." I taste his name in my mouth, making him fix his blue eyes on mine.
- That! -he looks at me, as if he liked the way his name came out of my lips.
Soon, wanting to come face to face with me, he sits down in the armchair, relaxing his broad back into the back.
"But don't try to change the subject!" He crosses his leg, resting his ankle on top of his knee.
“I'm not changing the subject. You're right when you say you saw me drink, but you're wrong if you think I did it for the purpose of attracting attention.
— I don't think it takes effort to get someone's attention!
- What do you mean by that?
— That your eyes... -Slowly, he moves over the upholstery coming closer to me. -They are capable of leaving anyone in delirium.
— V-
I was going to speak, I even opened my mouth to comment on his comment, but then, he made me hold the oxygen inside my chest when he got closer, stretching his muscles towards me.
— There's something in your hair... -he said exhaling his aphrodisiac perfume, while touching the strands on my head. -Here, take...
Centimeters, were few centimeters that we were of each other.
“Th-thanks! - I thank you, slowly releasing the air I had trapped.
— I've never seen a green like that before... -he says traveling inside me.
"And I've never met anyone who makes my heart beat so fast."
I was under a spell where my thoughts were corrupted by sheer naughtiness. Compliments from him were tearing me up inside like no other could before. Even though they were simple words, they could move me.
I see that the way I fell in love with him was too quick. My parents would even say "finally", but my insides are collapsing without understanding anything.
"God, is there something wrong with me?"
— Majesty —
"Why do you keep calling me that?" - I return to reality, irritating myself by the way he calls me.
"By the way everyone insists on calling me"
"It's the Queen, isn't it?"
- I am, but -
- Does that bother you?
- Yes a lot!
He puts his hands on the arms of the chair and lifts himself up, making my eyes follow his structure.
"So what do you prefer to be called?" -she said walking around the room.
"From my name it's enough!"
"And which one should I use?" -raised a mystery. -Clifford, or Rivera?
"What?"
I get up from the bed and turn to him with a serious look.
- How do you know that?
“I know that you come from a noble family in southern Dallnalia and that you are the daughter of Barons! - reveals leaving me in shock. -Shares the post with Amélia Rivera, the older sister, and Perla Rivera, the youngest of the family. She was the only one of the sisters who had not yet married, the one that her parents made a point of showing off as the most beautiful among the other two.
“Benjamin!” I call out, demanding an answer.
— I heard that in your city, every two years they organize a ball to auction the most beautiful girls in the region. That men from all over the world and of the highest class traveled just to be able to buy them in person.
A few days before the event, a catalog of all the ladies that were going to be sold was released. It was a short-term attention grabber, driving buyers crazy and thirsty for the best. So, with so little time to party, they didn't have time to compare or combine values, they simply spent a fortune sunk in desire and ambition.
