Connect the Dots Alpha
Alpha Liam
Her whimpered words pierce through my soul and I know if I don’t remove my wolf from her presence that he would waste no more time to ensure that she was wearing our mark. Chained to us for the rest of her life, just as the Moon Goddess had intended when she created the mate bond. The thought may delight me in the cruelest of ways but I don’t want her to hate me, I want her to long for me as much as I do her. I want her to beg for me. Fury boils through me to realize that my long awaited mate was desperate to leave me before she had even come to realize who I was to her. Rogue or not, I was not willing to let that happen. Although, I wasn’t quite sure if that’s what she even was. She was hiding something but it didn’t matter, she was mine now and I’d ensure nothing would stand in the way of that.
My wolf scowls as we storm out of my bedroom, leaving her locked inside all by herself. I feel guilty leaving her and know that she must feel like a prisoner, probably assuming this was a punishment for speaking out of turn to an Alpha. The last thing she needed was more abuse, she was already battered and struggling to understand what I wanted with her; questioning why I hadn’t killed her already. I found it adorable in the oddest of ways. She must have known how I felt about rogues or anyone for that matter who trespassed on my land.
For the first time, I had a shred of hope that she was feeling the magnetic pull between us too. I had noticed how her eyes nearly dilated whenever our gazes locked. I felt my cock harden when I caught her eyes trailing down my body, her arousal sifting through the air. Fuck, she smelt divine when she was wet for me. Still though, it wasn’t enough. She still wished to leave and abandon her fate as my mate and Luna to this pack.
It had been the first time I’d felt any indication of her wolf present. I was ready to murder my Beta Jax in his own blood when they returned from their outing and I realized he had the nerve to get my mate drunk. He was sent to protect her. I was already hesitant on having her roam the pack as an unmated she wolf, knowing that the males would smell her from across the pack. I wouldn’t have let her go if it wasn’t for Beta Jax insisting that she should become acquainted with the pack she was meant to lead. He gave me his word that he would ensure her safety.
I was also strangely grateful that the liquid courage was pouring through her and revealing a very different side of Lexi that I hadn’t seen. I could see there was more to Lexi than her insecure and frightened front. Her aura was off too, there was something that mimicked power radiating from her wolf. She was stronger than she led on, far stronger than a rogue would ever be. The only people I knew that held that sort of authority were Alphas which served to further confuse me.
I stare blankly at the punching bag in front of me in the center of my gym. My knuckles are already healing from the angry blows I’d served it that had caused the skin to split. I let a howl take hold of me before I lunge for the heavy red bag again, determined to let off some steam. I growl when the sand pours out of the side, knowing that I’d just ruined another one. I throw it over my shoulder to replace it when I hear someone clearing their throat behind me. I instantly pick up that it’s my Beta, off his scent and ask through gritted teeth, “do you have a death wish?”
He shifts his weight from one leg to another, letting out an exhale before he takes the punching bag from me and replies, “I’ve got it Alpha.” He disappears into the small storage room in the corner of the gym and returns with a new one over his shoulders. I sit down on the bench nearby, heaving a sigh as I watch him hang the new punching bag in place. “I-I wanted to apologize for earlier Alpha, I swear I didn’t know she had never tried alcohol before,” he admits as he chokes out the words.
“Is that all?”, I ask as I stand on my feet and start sparring again. He takes off his blue blazer and tosses it over the bench, “looks like you could use the real thing,” he chuckles and I immediately know there’s more to why he’s decided to invade my safe space.
He manages to avoid my punches, ducking and shifting side to side. “Bad day or you’re just trying to avoid killing your second in command?”, he jokes and I manage to wrap my leg around his before bringing him down abruptly to the gym floor. “Both, I take it,” he says through rushed breaths as he jumps back up into his fighting stance.
“She wants to leave,” I say and clench my jaw, driving my fist forward just in time to serve Beta Jax a blow to the side of his face. “She’s seventeen, she doesn’t know yet,” he says and I drop my fists, staring at him stunned and wide eyed. Suddenly, the pieces of the puzzle are starting to click together.
I had never felt such rejection, unaware of the relentlessness that it carried. I thought I’d had my heartbroken when my long time girlfriend, Katherine, found her mate but this pain? No, this pain didn’t come close.
I had women throwing themselves at my feet, all dreaming of what one night with an Alpha would feel like. I’ve obliged more times than I’m proud of, letting them satisfy my needs and then send them packing soon after. This was different with Lexi, she was my mate. I would move mountains just to be seen by her.
I growl slowly, “keep going,” and deliver a few more shots to him. “I’m certain she’s not a rogue either, she didn’t want to anger you so she asked for milk and bread instead of pizza,” he admits in a low voice. My growl now is louder and I don’t miss a single shot until I have Jax pinned to the floor. It’s as if I have the weight of a thousand bricks sitting on my shoulders. My vision goes hazy and all I can see is red taking over my sight. My mate was a fucking slave. Some fucking asshole took her as a slave. I’m going to find the low life and kill him with my bare two hands.
Beta Jax throws his hands up in surrender, “I know right? Who says no to pizza?!”
