Replaceable Possessions

Guilt flooded my gut at Marilyn’s abrupt departure out of the pack house kitchen. Marilyn cared about me; she wholeheartedly cared about all of the omegas in Shadow Pack. She was a kind and loving woman who had been broken repeatedly at the cruel hands of Alpha Axton, yet she still was courageous and full of life to keep on going – to keep on going, for all of us. I couldn’t help but feel like I had let her down. I could see how disappointed she was that I had chosen to stay in Shadow Pack but I knew the odds of escaping into the night and living to tell the story were stacked against me.

The rest of the kitchen staff hurried into the kitchen, each omega retrieving the required items from the fridge and joining around me to prepare breakfast for the pack house. We all worked in unison; chopping, cooking, and plating like an assembly line. The mouth-watering smell of the breakfast buffet whiffed in the air, leaving me to realize I was drooling as my eyes wandered over the omelets, bacon, hash potatoes, fruit platters, crepes and cinnamon toast. Luxuries that most omegas had never experienced and likely never would. It reminded me of a young slave girl a few years ago that snuck a slice of cinnamon toast to try and was caught by an enforcer who dragged her away by her hair, never to be seen again. Some days during breakfast I thought about her, if she had followed the rules maybe she would still be alive.

As soon as breakfast was served in the dining hall, I scurried off to continue with the rest of my duties. My chores for the day were piled up, many still outstanding and needing to be completed from the mess the Alphas had left from the night of the meeting. I decided to begin cleaning the guest bedrooms knowing that I would have to wash and replace all the bed sheets first. If I didn’t get the linens in the washing machine first thing in the morning, I would be stuck working until midnight. The pack house had well over thirty bedrooms for visitors so nights after when the bedrooms were used, it was often a nightmare to get them all cleaned.

Each bedroom was decorated somewhat differently, but all had the same white four post canopy bed. I started in my favorite room, hoping to lift my spirit from the guilt of disappointing Marilyn earlier with my decision to stay in Shadow Pack. While the washing machine was running, I opened the curtains to let some sunlight into the room against the sky blue walls. I could faintly hear my wolf inside reminiscing of the memories we once shared running through the forest, the bright clear sky above us. Those were the things I missed most since becoming an omega; the feeling of being completely free in my wolf form and running as far as my paws would take me.

Before I knew it, it was past dinner time and I had finished all thirty of the guest bedrooms, leaving me to pile today’s other missed chores onto my list for tomorrow. I leaned against the wall and took in a deep breath, my body was at the brink of exhaustion. My stomach rumbled and I realized I missed the one meal omegas were allowed to have in the day but I didn’t care, all I wanted was my cot.

I picked up the bucket of water and bleach that I had used to wash the tiled mosaic floors, the smell of ammonia from cleaning the floor no longer burning in my nostrils. Seeing as washing the floor had become a regular duty of mine, I was no longer bothered by the smell. It had taken some time to get used to but my lungs no longer itched every time I inhaled. I entered the laundry room, dumping the dirty bucket of water in the sink. A hand tightly squeezed against my arm, spinning me around abruptly. My eyes met with Charlotte’s gray ones, I instantly recognized she was annoyed at me for some reason. Granted, I was sure she didn’t like me anyways considering I was “forcing her back to her omega duties,” as she claimed.

Charlotte’s hand squeezed harder on my frail arm, “I’ve been looking for you everywhere. Come on. Alpha Axton has requested for you to join tonight,” she said with a hardened jaw.

Charlotte pulled my body into the foyer and up the wooden staircase into the Alpha quarters, I was sure she could hear my heart vigorously hammering in my heart. What did she mean by joining tonight? Would he take my innocence from me tonight? I still had some time before I turned eighteen, but then again, Alpha Axton didn’t abide by the rules, he made them.

She forced her hand against the door knob of the heavy door, pushing it in and dragging us both inside. Fear crept up my skin as I remembered my last encounter within these four walls. Charlotte pulled her identical brown dress over her head, exposing her creamy skin against a cage like leather bra. My eyes widened, the bra didn’t cover her nipples and it made me uncomfortable to stare at her breasts like this. “Are you done staring?”, she scolded, pointing over to a sitting chair. The identical set of what she was wearing was neatly folded on the chair. I turned back to her and shook my head, water filling in my eyes, “please. I don’t want to be his sex slave,” I begged.

She stalked over and picked up the leather outfit, tossing it at me and landing at my feet, “you have no idea how fucking lucky you are. Stop crying like an ungrateful little girl and hurry up before you get us both punished, get dressed,” she reprimanded.

I carefully peeled my brown servant dress off my body, reaching for the leather ensemble I was expected to get dressed in. I pulled on the straps, the leather feeling so rough and coarse under my fingers. I struggled to put the caged bra on, it quickly became a tangled mess. Charlotte threw her blonde hair over her shoulder, “it’s like you’re trying to be stupid,” she said and reached for the leather ensemble from my hands. It didn’t take much for her to untangle the straps that I had accidentally criss crossed. I was startled by Charlotte’s cold hands behind me, hooking up the caged bra in one quick move.

She let out a sigh, like she was about to embark on an impossible task. “Watch. Spread your legs, sit back on your calves and place your hands on your thighs, palms always up. That’s the position he wants to see you in when he enters the room. You crawl, never walk to him. You do not speak until spoken to, every question must be followed up with “master”. Forgetting to refer to him as your master will get you whipped until you bleed. Now don’t be stupid and get us both whipped because you can’t follow simple instructions,” Charlotte lectured.

I sat next to her, copying her exact position in the middle of the room. My breathing kept picking up speed, even as I struggled to steady my breath. Alpha Axton stumbled into the bedroom, laughing and singing some song I had never heard, holding a nearly empty bottle of vodka high.

“My beautiful girls, there you are,” he said, reaching for my face and running a finger down my jaw. My body tensed, nervously anticipating whatever torture he had desired to implicate on Charlotte and I. He gave me a sinister smile, I could feel the evil he emasculated creeping up my skin. There was not a hint of kindness anywhere in those dark onyx eyes.

Alpha Axton squatted in front of me, his fingers pitching my exposed pink nipple and roughly pulling down. I winced at the excruciating pain, he clenched his jaw tightly and whipped the glass bottle of vodka against the wall. “Don’t you enjoy it?”, he screamed, his voice vibrating against the walls. My eyes shut closed, fear clouding my better judgment and forgetting everything that Charlotte had just instructed. I avoided looking at him, the Alpha aura making me feel so tiny under his burning stare, “y-yes Alpha”, I whispered.

A terrifying growl came from Alpha Axton’s chest and he raised his hand, his fingers coming in contact with my face in a hard slap. My cheek stung, burning from the violent blow. My body fell over onto the floor, blood spilling out of my mouth as I struggled to cough. “Don’t you enjoy it?”, he repeated, slowing down his words this time. “Y-yes Master,” I stuttered.

I mustered my strength and sat back up, resuming the position that I was expected to take. He pulled a short and thin bright red piece of leather with a clasp from his pocket, attaching it to my neck like a collar that a pet would wear. I could feel it restricting my airway from how tightly he had secured it. “This is your collar, it means you belong to me but you already know you’re my property,” he explained, the smirk on his face deepening. His calloused hands tugged against my straight raven hair causing me to shriek.

Alpha Axton released a chuckle, the look on his face told me he was enjoying seeing me in the agonizing pain. “Get up,” he demanded and without thinking, I obeyed, rising to my feet. “AGAIN,” he roared loudly, I shuffled back at his loud voice which only server to further aggravate him.

He raised a closed fist and before I knew it, I was sent spiraling across the room, my body landing on the shards of glass shattered on the floor from the vodka bottle. He punched my eye so hard that I couldn’t open it. I whimpered on the floor, knowing my already weak body couldn’t take any more pain.

My arms covered my head, feeling the pounding footsteps approaching me once more but he didn’t strike me like I thought he would. Instead, I could feel his eyes piercing through me as he stared down.

“Charlotte,” he said softly, his body still hovering over mine spread on the floor.

“Yes master,” she replied graciously like she was enjoying his dominance over her.

“Stand on your feet and bend over, show yourself to me,” he continued calmly. The air from my lungs escaped, feeling his foot sharply lunge into my stomach, “get out omega,” he said coldly through gritted teeth to me.

I coughed, feeling more blood drip out of my mouth. “Yes master,” I replied, struggling to stand up and limping towards the door. He has made his way to the middle of the room, unbuckling his belt and dropping his pants. He thrusted loudly into Charlotte from behind, her shrieking gasps the last thing I heard as I closed the door behind me.
