Two days later

Stanton High School, America

8:10 a.m.

Rosaline's P.O.V.

"Buttercup"

While I was getting my books from the locker for the class when all of a sudden I heard my name being called from behind. I turned back only to see my three friends waving at me.

Nick

Mark

And my best friend Rebecca

I smiled and ran to them.

"Hi guys"

We all then did a big group hug which was no less than a bear hug as Nick and Mark were literally squeezing the life out of me. I broke the hug and looked at them.

"So, what's up little?"

Nick ruffled my hair. I whined and smacked his shoulder.

"Don't do that. You're ruining it"

"Ohk, is that so?"

Mark whined dramatically and pulled my braids up in air.

"Stop it. Owie!!"

Rebecca started laughing along with them while those two jerks kept pulling my hair. Suddenly I felt something scratched my elbow but I couldn't check it as they both kept annoying me.

"LEAVE HER! RIGHT NOW!!"

All of a sudden, a deep growl echoed from behind. My heart jumped in my throat in fear. We all turned back.

My breath hitched.

There stood Xavier Knight. He had angry eyes and was glaring at my friends furiously. I looked at him bewildered. I don't know why he was so angry?

Xavier slowly approached us with heavy steps. I was looking at him like a dumb but he didn't even look at my way for once. His gaze was fixed on Nick and Mark. The best part was that my braids were still in their hands as we all stayed rooted on our spot so you can imagine how funny I must be looking at the moment.

Xavier then came in front of us. He glared at them both and spoke in a deep husky voice.

"I said remove your hands off her right now"

He growled with clenched jaw. Mark and Nick quickly retreated their hands back. I looked at them but I startled feeling a gentle grip on my chin. I looked back only to see Xavier looking at me softly.

"You okay Doll?"

The world stopped around me. It felt as if my soul had left my body. I could hear my heart thudding wildly in my chest as if I had run a marathon. His black orbs staring at me with concern and sadness made my heart heavy. The guy whom I had been chasing for almost half of my life was talking to me for the first time. I kept looking at him with wide eyes. My cheeks started burning hot as we kept looking at each other- one in shock, other in worry.

Xavier slowly looked up and raised his hands. He started caressing my hair softly, his meticulous gaze never left me for once as he kept patting my head gently.

"Does it hurt that bad?"

He spoke in a worried tone. I was completely frozen. I don't know but I was paralyzed by his handsome face and his mesmerizing features. When I still didn't respond, his gaze turned dark. Xavier glared at Mark and without thinking twice, he swung a hard punch right on his nose. I gasped in shock. Mark groaned in pain and fell on the floor.

"MARK!"

"WHAT THE HELL DUDE!!"

Rebecca and Nick both shouted in unison at Xavier and ran to Mark to help him. I also tried to go near him but someone pulled me back. I turned back and saw Xavier holding my wrist but his gaze was fixed on Mark.

"Don't. He deserved it"

And with that he dragged me along with him.

"X-Xa-Xavier! Wait, please"

I tried to explain him but he was walking way too fast and I was finding it too difficult to match his pace.

Xavier took me to the infirmary and made me sit on the bed.

'Why did he bring me here?'

"You're bleeding"

He replied in a cold tone.

'Did I say it loud?'

"Yes, you did"

Xavier replied again and sat beside me. He took my right arm in his hand and started caressing it. I felt tingles in my stomach. I tried to remove my arm from his hold but I flinched when he suddenly cupped my left cheek making me look in his eyes.

"I am gonna treat your wound now. Okay?"

He spoke gently. I looked at him confused and checked my elbow.

'Wound?'

'It's a mere scratch!'

I quickly shook my head in denial and smiled.

"It's nothing but a scratch Xavier. I will apply ointment on it"

I spoke softly.

"So, you know my name?"

He said with a smirk completely ignoring my words.

"Well, isn't it obvious? I mean everyone knows you"

I mumbled as I looked away from him in embarrassment. Xavier chuckled and nodded his head.

'But you don't know mine?'

My face fell in disappointment as I know he doesn't know me at all. Well, it was obvious though. Xavier barely ever considered my presence while I used to stalk him day and night like a creep. If he finds out who I really am, he will definitely be going to be disgusted with me as I will also come in the list of those annoying girls whom he despises the most. My heart turned heavy with pain. I bit my lower lip as I tried to suppress my emotions and looked up but I got startled when I found Xavier staring me intensely. His expressions were elusive but his eyes were as cool as spring as if someone had drawn them with a pencil.

'So serene, so beautiful'

"Uh.. I mean it's nothing just a mere scratch. You don't need to get so mu-"

"It may be nothing to you but not for me. I can't even see a single scratch on your body. I can't see you in pain. Let me treat you"

Xavier replied in his deep husky voice. My heart skipped a beat.

'What is he saying?'

"Huh? N-No, I am perfectly fine Xavier"

I spoke while smiling at him. Suddenly the doctor came inside the room. He looked at the both of us.

"What happened?"

His gaze then landed on my scratched elbow.

"Oh!! Are you alright? Let me treat you"

I was about to speak when all of a sudden...

"You'll treat her?"

I snapped my head to the left only to see Xavier glaring him furiously. His face was dark and his eyes were full of anger. He was throwing daggers at the poor doctor who was looking at him in shock and fear.

Xavier didn't say anything further but kept glaring at him fiercely. The doctor stood there confounded but then slowly made his way towards the exit as he didn't want to face his wrath. Well, everyone in the campus was aware about Xavier's temper issues so they always used to skirt around.

As soon as the doctor left, Xavier exhaled loudly. He then shifted his gaze towards me but I immediately looked down as I was a bit scared of him. Xavier then got up and came back with a first-aid kit. He sat beside me and started treating my wound. After bandaging it, he stood up and started cleaning everything. I kept looking at him confused.

'Why is he doing this?'

'He doesn't even know me'

'Or does he?'

Xavier then took a seat beside me and gave me a pill along with a glass of water.

"It's a painkiller"

He spoke while looking at me softly.

'What's wrong with this guy?'

'Seriously, painkiller?'

But not to worsen the situation, I gave him a fake smile and gulped it down. Xavier kept staring me which was now started to creep me out. I looked at him back nervously.

"Uhmm? Xavier th-thank you so much b-but you shouldn't had hit my f-friend. He was j-just-"

"What are you saying Doll?"

He immediately cut me off. I looked at him confused. His gaze again turned dark.

"Your so-called friends were bullying you and you are saying-"

"They weren't bullying me"

I quickly rebuked. He glared me making me gulp in fear.

"T-They were just playing with me nothing else"

I tried to explain him. God knows why I was even doing that. Xavier then came close to me and looked in my eyes deeply as if he was staring in my soul.

His black orbs were staring at me intensely made my heart do a flip-flop. I was going all frenzy. All of a sudden, he held my face in his hands. I shuddered as his cold fingers made contact with my skin. He leaned forward and rested his forehead on mine. I froze.

"Still, I didn't like it. They hurt you and I can't tolerate this"

To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I looked in his eyes which were filled with love and care.

"I can't see you in pain. I can't see you hurt. I would destroy everyone if they even think about hurting you. I won't let anyone hurt my Rosebud"

'Rosebud?'

My eyes welled up by hearing his words. I looked at him with teary-eyes.

"X-Xavie-"

"Sshhh"

He hushed me as he placed his index finger on my lips.

"Don't. Don't say anything Rosebud"

He whispered near my lips in a husky voice. My heart started palpitating wildly. He slowly started leaning forward and before I could process, he planted a soft gentle kiss on my lips.

Fireworks exploded. My heart stopped. My mind became blank. I remained still on my spot like a mannequin as I can't even believe what happened just now. I got pulled out from my trance as soon as Xavier pulled off and stared in my eyes deeply.

"I love you"
