#1252 - Chapter 1252 Devoting All Oneself to the Mission
"No, how could this be? This can't be happening." Ignoring the tightly wrapped bandages on her body, Lingli tried to crawl towards the Realm of Returning Emptiness, only to be stopped by Master Wuchen.
"In your current state, wouldn't all of Ye Kong's efforts be in vain? Once you've fully recovered, I will personally take you there." After saying this, Master Wuchen instructed his disciple to apply medicine and then walked towards the Realm of Returning Emptiness.
As Master Wuchen approached the Realm of Returning Emptiness, he immediately detected a different scent. He took a few steps closer, observing that the greenery outside the realm still looked half-dead. He knew that Ye Kong's current situation wouldn't last much longer either.
"To think you were once the most outstanding disciple of the Tai Chu Institute, but now it seems you're nothing more than this!" Master Wuchen said, turning and leaving.
Ye Kong, who was deep in sleep, was abruptly awakened by the scolding. He immediately opened his eyes and sat up, wiping the drool from his mouth. "Who? Who's calling me?"
There was no one.
Within the entire Realm of Returning Emptiness, flowers bloomed, and mist swirled, creating a scene of otherworldly paradise.
Ye Kong took a few steps, but seeing no one, he realized that no one else would appear here.
Here, heaven and earth were reversed, and the sun and moon were unclear. Staying here for hundreds of years wouldn't be a problem.
Hearing the commotion inside, Master Wuchen knew that Ye Kong had awakened. He immediately called out, "Ye Kong, calm your mind and break out of the Realm of Returning Emptiness yourself!"
Boom!
With a loud crash, a large opening appeared in the Realm of Returning Emptiness, and Ye Kong emerged directly from it.
Their eyes met.
Master Wuchen looked at Ye Kong, who had indeed improved significantly compared to the past few days. He thought to himself that Wang, that fellow, owed him a great favor.
"Master Wuchen, where's Lingli? How is she now?" Ye Kong asked.
Here it comes, the first thing he asks about is Lingli.
Everyone's been busy with the two of them, and they don't even get a thank you.
"She's in the inner chamber. Follow me." Master Wuchen said, leading the way.
Ye Kong looked at Master Wuchen's back, recalling that Master Wuchen was said to never offer help, yet this time he was willing to go to such lengths.
Ye Kong said from behind, "Master Wuchen, thank you for your help."
Master Wuchen waved his hand, but his heart was filled with joy.
Back in the inner chamber, Lingli had just taken her medicine and was now asleep. Ye Kong placed his hand on her wrist, finding her pulse steady, her breathing even, and her complexion much rosier. Knowing that Lingli was no longer in serious danger, Ye Kong tucked her in and turned to leave the inner chamber.
Master Wuchen was sweeping fallen leaves in the courtyard, while his disciples were preparing ingredients and getting ready to light the fire. The people in the courtyard were all busy.
Ye Kong walked over, picked up a broom, and started sweeping alongside Master Wuchen, casually asking, "Is there a festival in the temple?"
Master Wuchen waved his hand, and the broom in Ye Kong's hand returned to its original position. "We, the Zhongnan Mountain, don't need guests to do the work."
"I'm just expressing my gratitude. I came in a hurry and didn't prepare anything. I hope Master doesn't mind."
As soon as Ye Kong said this, Master Wuchen threw the broom back, snorted coldly, and left with a flick of his sleeve.
"What's wrong with Master Wuchen?" Ye Kong asked, puzzled.
"Your words clearly treat Master as that kind of person who only cares about profit. It's no wonder Master is angry!" A young disciple carrying a large bundle of dry leaves walked over, "Don't do anything. Tonight's banquet is specially prepared by Master to welcome the two of you. Just wander around the courtyard and wait."
"Oh." Ye Kong understood, hoping that Master Wuchen wasn't angry.
After all, he had heard that when he gets angry, he can throw you off Zhongnan Mountain.
Ye Kong was bored, so he walked around the temple. It was indeed deserted, with only a few disciples who were still young. The entire Zhongnan Mountain was supported by Master Wuchen alone, yet no one dared to covet Zhongnan Mountain's resources.
This was enough to prove that Master Wuchen had indeed reached a high level of cultivation, perhaps even the Transformation God stage.
Unconsciously, Ye Kong walked to the gate of the courtyard. Thinking about how embarrassed he was when he came up the mountain a few days ago, he couldn't help but look at the steps. Only then did he see that the steps were endless, bottomless, but there was no snow on them, as if it only snowed heavily on the night he arrived.
Ye Kong couldn't help but ask a young disciple passing by, "Hello, little master, it snowed so heavily down Zhongnan Mountain a few days ago, how come there's no trace of snow on the steps?"
"This is the Barrier Ladder, nothing will remain on it." After the young disciple answered, he added, "You said snow? How could that be?
It never snows on Zhongnan Mountain."
It doesn't snow on Zhongnan Mountain? But he clearly saw heavy snow, bone-chilling cold, and the feeling of stepping on the snow. This couldn't be fake. Ye Kong stepped on the steps and realized that this was just a test.
Master Wuchen knew he would come long ago.
After wandering outside enough, Ye Kong returned to the inner chamber to watch over Lingli. After a while, Lingli slowly woke up and gently called his name when she saw Ye Kong beside her.
"Ye Kong."
Ye Kong immediately got up and asked with concern, "Lingli, do you feel better? Does your body still hurt? Is there anything else that's uncomfortable?"
"I'm fine, Ye Kong." Lingli replied word by word. "I'm really troubling you."
"It's nothing. If you hadn't blocked that palm for me, I'd be the one lying here now." Ye Kong was very grateful that Lingli was okay. "If you feel better, we'll go out and see Master Wuchen. He's helped us a lot."
Lingli stood up for a moment on the ground, and the feeling of standing up was familiar and strange. She didn't stand still for a moment and fell on Ye Kong.
"I really didn't expect there would be this day."
"Don't be afraid, I'm here." Ye Kong picked up Lingli and took her to Master Wuchen's meditation room.
At the entrance of the meditation room, Ye Kong put Lingli down. "Can you walk now?"
Lingli stepped on it again, moving a small step gently. Now she could stand straight without Ye Kong's support. She smiled on her face, "Ye Kong, I'm fine!"
"Yeah." Ye Kong was also happy for her.
The door of the meditation room opened, and Master Wuchen stood at the door with a serious face.
Ye Kong and Lingli bowed at the same time, "Thank you, Master Wuchen."
Master Wuchen helped Lingli up, "I didn't help this time for nothing. I need something."
Ye Kong was already used to it, even feeling it was natural. "Whatever Master Wuchen wants, we are willing to exchange it for."
Master Wuchen's eyes lingered on Lingli for a long time, and then suddenly stopped on Ye Kong.
"Me?" Ye Kong asked.
Master Wuchen nodded.
"Okay, then I will do my best, even if it means dying."
