"Dynamí, be careful." someone whispered in my ears. Who?
Her voice was melodic and enticing. The pain of my body seemed to wash away as the voice spoke to me. I tried to open my eyes, I forced myself to.
The white ceiling welcomed me as I opened my eyes. The aching of my entire body followed after. Ugh, why does it hurt so much?
All I remember after was that dangerous man throwing me onto the ground and as I looked up to him, I saw that he was seething. I heard the fast footsteps of other pack wolves who followed after Leighton and I only hoped that he was able to get away.
And after that, my vision blackened.
"O-oh! She's awake! Doctor!" I hear someone say. I looked over to my side and saw two guards stationed at the door of the small room I was in. One of the guards had already gotten out and called for a doctor.
I tried to move, but then I noticed that my hands and feet were bound. They really love chains don't they?
My whole body was sore and tired out. I wonder how long I was asleep. I need to get out of here fast, everyone must be worried.
Soon, I smelled someone coming in. Reeks of medicine, must be the doctor. He had dark brown hair and bright hazel eyes that reminded me of the dangerous man. Come to think of it, he kind of looks like him. They were both handsome, but for some reason, my brain agreed that the dangerous man would still win if they had a handsomeness face-off.
When he saw me observing him, he smiled and waved a hand.
He looks dumb.
He pressed something and the upper part of the bed lifted, making me sit up. I was ready to attack when I felt my bed moving, but I calmed down when I realized that the doctor just wanted me sit up.
"It must be hard moving with those chains, right?" he asks cheerfully as if we were friends.
"Would you like to try?" I opened my mouth to say, but regretted it immediately. My throat was hella dry. He must've noticed that because he asked one of the guards to get me a glass of water.
Hastily, I took the glass from the guard and smelled it. No poison. I drank it all in one go.
"Anyways, I'm Kasen. You should take it easy, you passed out because of exhaustion, dehydration, hunger and overexerting yourself and your powers. Don't you feel bad for your wolf?" he says. I was irritated at his tone, he spoke to me as if we've known each other for a long time.
I looked at him from head to toe, I would win against him.
I showed my wolf so that we both spoke at the same time. "Mind your own business, pack wolf." My wolf even growled before I suppressed her again.
Kasen's eyes widened for a bit, while the two guards behind suddenly had their heads bowed. Kasen looked at me weirdly, turned to the guards and exchanged looks between us.
He thought for a while and sighed. "You've made yourself a name around here, you know. Anyways, Chase and Owen are on their way, I've informed them that you are awake." he said again.
He really looks like that dangerous man. I wondered if they were relatives or anything.
I didn't know who Chase and Owen were, so I just chose to ignore him and looked around the room.
"Ah, how long was I knocked out?" I ask. Kasen looked surprised that I even spoke to him.
He smiled again. What is with this guy? He really is an idiot.
"3 days."
I cursed myself mentally. I was out for that long? I really need to hurry and get away from here.
The doctor did a 'quick' check up as he said, but of course I didn't make it easy for him. I refused him even coming near me. Why were they doing this anyways? I'm their enemy, a rogue.
Why would they bother treating me instead of locking me up again in a cell or get rid of me right away?
And then I remembered the dangerous man. My wolf had called him mate. I still didn't know if they were real or not. Ashley's mom's voice entered my head when she tried explaining me about mates. "They are soulmates that the moon goddess choose for you. You are each other's half, so when you meet your mate, you will complete each other." That's what she had said.
I remember laughing about it and shrugged it off. Must be another legend of pack wolves.
Suddenly, my wolf started becoming restless again and I knew that the dangerous man must be near because he was the only one who made my wolf and I feel this way. Soon enough, I smelled his fresh minty scent in the air.
It was so good.
The door opened and I saw him entering. Kasen turned back and saw the dangerous man and the other one entering.
"Chase, Owen. Good thing you're here. This rogue is a handful, she's just so stubborn." Kased complained. The two guards bowed to them and I heard the second man ordering them to take a break.
They nodded and left the room.
The two newcomers walked closer, the dangerous man eyeing me dangerously and if looks could kill, I would already be six feet underground.
"Of course she is. She is quite the feisty one, you see." the dangerous man said and I almost rolled my eyes.
"I can't believe she was able to escape her cell and even open our barrier." Kasen said and laughed.
Apparently, that wasn't a laughing matter to the two other. Their face hardened when the careless doctor mentioned about the barrier.
"Alright, rogue. Let's try to reach an agreement, shall we?" the dangerous man said. He sounded like he was threatening me and that I had no other choice but to follow.
I scoffed. I raised my eyebrow at him and I rolled my eyes, looking anywhere but him.
The atmosphere filled with tension, but then Kasen cut through it with a laugh. I saw the other one laughing too. Only the dangerous man and I were serious.
What's so funny? Have they gone insane?
"Owen, she's a funny one." Kasen said.
"I know she was hard-headed, but to roll your eyes at Chase, hahaha." Owen said, the one who was always with the dangerous man. So that means that his name was Chase.
Chase.
Chase.
Chase...
I hated how easy and natural the name rolled off in my head as if I had always known him, always known his name.
Chase glared at the two and they held their laugh back. I didn't understand what was so funny.
"I must say, what you did was a courageous feat, letting that child escape. But it was a stupid move, my men had already found where you and your rogue friends are hiding." he started as he crossed him arms across his chest, his muscles apparent.
I was immediately angry. I broke the chains that bound me, standing on my bed and tried to punch him.
I sensed threat and my initial reaction was to fight. I was a rogue and that's how rogues live.
However, he was Owen was quick to hold stop my punch. I snapped my head towards him and I was going to attack him, but Chase spoke again.
"One word from me and my men will attack your comrades." he threatened. My fists were still clenched. I hated that they used the people I was trying to protect against me.
"Just try to do that and I will make sure that this pack will be in ashes." I spoke, my wolf with me.
A sick smile graced his beautiful face and I hated how my thoughts betrayed me for a quick second.
"I don't think you understand your situation very well here, rogue. Your life and the life of your friends are in my hands so I suggest that you sober up and do what I tell you to."
I took my hand back from Owen who was just listening to me and Chase talk.
I hated this man for using innocent people into this. When at the very essence, we haven't done anything wrong but accidentally trespassing into their pack. It's not like we killed one of their own, so why should we get this kind of treatment.
I hated him for using them because I knew in myself that I was going to protect them no matter what. I had promised them that they will be safe with me, I had a duty to keep my words.
When I didn't answer, he must've taken that as a sign to continue.
"The deal is simple. You become our pack member and we will leave them alone."
My eyes widened as I stared back into his hazel eyes. I saw Owen and Kasen turn to Chase too, the news was unexpected to them too.
"Ch-Chase what are you trying to say? She's a rogue." Owen said from behind him.
"The pack is not going to accept this Chase." Kasen seconded. The cheerfulness in his voice was gone.
Chase kept his eyes on me as he spoke again.
"They will have to because she's my mate."
