#156 - Chapter 156 Speculations
Yangcheng suburbs.
The Green Source convoy arrived near the target location, about one kilometer away, and parked in a relatively open area.
Soon, two reconnaissance drones took off and flew towards the target location.
The old models were no longer used. Since acquiring these better military-grade drones, reconnaissance work has indeed become more convenient.
The drones were fast, and soon they were flying over the target area.
Qin Jin and several team leaders stared at the screens on their handheld devices.
Below the lens was a strange complex of buildings covering a wide area.
There were buildings of various heights, some single or double-story structures resembling large venues, open spaces with playgrounds and basketball courts, and in the distance, numerous surrounding mountains, forests, and various training simulation fields.
In the picture, many tanks and helicopters were damaged on the open ground. Due to the distance, only the outlines could be roughly distinguished, and the actual situation required close-range inspection to be clear.
Even so, Qin Jin and the others watching felt a pang of heartache.
What a waste!
These treasures were just destroyed like this!?
Forgetting their heartache, the drones scouted around and, finding nothing new, flew back.
The drone used to attract monsters had already passed them and reached the target's airspace, starting to play sound.
Strangely, even after playing continuously for five minutes, it only attracted a few dozen zombies, not even a fraction of the number in Zhushi.
With questions in mind, Qin Jin had Xiao Liu control the drone to lead the attracted zombies out of the military area, right to the open gate where it could be easily handled.
What followed was simple.
They quickly used remote weapons to eliminate the few dozen zombies lured out.
With that done, the convoy finally began to drive towards their destination.
Passing through the military area gate, they entered the interior one after another, parked the vehicles, and Qin Jin was the first to jump out, observing the surrounding environment.
The ground inside showed some bomb craters caused by explosions. With his eyesight, he could see many bullet holes on the walls of some buildings in the distance.
Some vehicles were parked here, but most had traces of burning, and the few that hadn't burned were dilapidated from acid rain corrosion.
Clearly, there had been a battle here before.
He just couldn't imagine who the enemy was.
Occasionally, some dried-up corpses could be seen on the ground, but not many. If the previous people were fighting zombies, there should have been many corpses left behind.
These thoughts only flashed through his mind for a few seconds before he dismissed them. If he couldn't figure out the answer, he would think about it later. The priority now was to clear the area and see what they could salvage!
"All teams, clear the area immediately! Let's make this quick!"
The team members had already parked the vehicles, put on their equipment, and came down. Upon receiving the boss's instructions, they quickly picked up their guns and entered the buildings in teams to clear any remaining dangers!
Two team members remained in place, one operating the drone for aerial reconnaissance and vigilance, and the other watching the vehicles from the roof, ready to provide support at any time.
Qin Jin didn't stand still but began to walk around the area.
He came to a crashed armed helicopter, regretfully touching the fuselage. The entire rotor and half of a wing of the helicopter were gone, and it was lying on its side, completely destroyed.
Without stopping, he continued forward for a distance.
He arrived next to a parked tank.
There was a large area of burning marks on the left side of the tank. Qin Jin walked around the vehicle and found a large hole in the rear!
If there were no accidents, it was hit by other tanks or anti-tank weapons.
He covered his chin with his left hand, deep in thought.
Continuing to walk towards other places, he saw another tank that had also been penetrated!
From the black marks emerging from some of the observation ports and machine gun ports, it was clear that it had burned inside.
There had even been a secondary explosion.
Beyond saving.
This military area seemed to have more weapons than the Zhushi one, perhaps because it was a formal base.
After inspecting three tanks in a row, all of which were almost completely destroyed.
When he saw the fourth tank on the ground, Qin Jin no longer held much hope, because the vehicle's body also had many dark burning marks from when he walked over.
Suddenly.
After glancing at it, his eyes narrowed.
As he continued to inspect the vehicle, he discovered that this one didn't seem to have been penetrated!
Was there hope!?
He couldn't help but jump onto the tank's body to conduct a more careful visual inspection, and then he concluded that this tank had no obvious serious external damage!
Only some flammable material had burned the vehicle for some unknown reason, and there was some slight corrosion caused by acid rain on the body!
It didn't seem to be completely damaged!?
He had to get Xiao Hu to come and check it out later.
With a slightly improved mood, he continued to walk around the area.
Half an hour passed.
Qin Jin had long finished his stroll, and the combat team members had already cleared the buildings of any possible zombies.
They were already looking for valuable supplies here.
Sun Xiaohu was called by Qin Jin to look at the tank that seemed to still be of value. Sun Xiaohu climbed inside and checked for a while before reporting to him:
"Boss Qin, there are no problems inside this tank, it can be started!"
"It's just that some parts on the outside have been scorched and corroded, and need to be replaced and maintained. There are many parts here, and we have some at our base too!"
Everyone couldn't help but clap and celebrate!
This trip would be worth it just for this tank!
With joy, everyone continued to search other places, hoping to get more good news.
However.
Their luck seemed to decline significantly afterward. After carefully searching other places, they didn't find any more usable heavy weapons.
They also didn't find any weapons or ammunition. The armored vehicles and military heavy trucks that should have been there were nowhere to be seen.
There were still quite a few other supplies.
There were still some various weapon parts, military equipment, and fuel.
Qin Jin told everyone to quickly pack up the found supplies and load them onto the vehicles.
They still had to rush back to the shelter for the night.
While the team members were busy, he walked around and observed the buildings here.
In a room, he saw a pile of burned paper documents.
Judging from the amount of ashes, the documents that had been burned before were definitely numerous, as if they were in a hurry to quickly destroy them.
He continued to find some strange phenomena in other places, such as some skeletons that had been gnawed to the bone, with bullet holes in their skulls.
Zombies don't eat their companions after they are killed by bullets.
They only eat humans after they die.
So many people here were killed by humans themselves before they died!
Reaching this conclusion, Qin Jin frowned.
Combining it with the news he had heard in his previous life, he couldn't help but have some guesses in his mind.
However.
These guesses didn't seem to have much to do with them for the time being.
