Walking into the kitchen, laughter fills my ears and not just from the adults but little Chester's. In the corner, Blaze is making little light balls and Chester is popping them out but that is only because Blaze is snapping them out to make it look like Chester is.
How can such a kind hearted guy think he could turn to dark magic? I know in questioning him about it after we all played around like little kids overselves, he had said it is like a drug. Once a witch gets a taste for it the dark magic seems to consume them and most of the old spells have been destroyed, which is good.
"Hey! Did you enjoy the visit to the schools?" Jasel chirps, smiling over to me.
"I sure did. I even went to the daycare so not to leave the smallest of pups out." I laugh and fight rubbing my head again.
Jasel rolls out the dough she is making for rolls. The other ladies are tending to the meat in the oven and other side dishes.
"What is the menu for tonight?" I ask, thrilled by the smells.
"Blaze's favorite. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, and rolls." Jasel smirks.
"I told you also there was no need in making it for me. Anything would have been delicious." Blaze says looking over to us.
"You could get any meal you want and taste it all if you stayed in the pack." Jasel chides and goes back to the dough.
Blaze sighs and scoops Chester up in his arms, walking over to the counter. Chester holds his arms out for me and I pick him up to sit him in the chair next to me, while I stand.
"After I get the items needed from me hunting them down, I will stay." Blaze rests his hands on the counter top.
"Really? You will stay here and stop living the mountain man lifestyle." I look at him with an open mouth.
"Yeah, I mean my family is here. My nephew." Blaze tickles Chester lightly. "My brother-in-law and then my two sisters. You guys are living an amazing life here and I know you are still adapting to it, Keava, but your doing amazing. There is nothing for me in the mountains. By coming here for the ceremony, I see that and know that with us all together then I don't have to fear turning to the dark magic, as our gracious Luna as said."
Jasel drops the dough and screams, pulling Blaze into a tight hug. Her flour covered hands turning his shirt white, making me stiffle a laugh.
Once Jasel pulls back she washes her hands again and gets to pulling the dough into the roll shapes for baking.
"About those desserts we can go over it all while things cook?" I offer.
"Yes!" Chorus from everyone in here and Jasel pulls out a pad and pen fron the drawer in front of her.
"So we got the pie from yesterday wrote down. What is next?" Jasel looks around.
"Something with chocolate." One pipes up.
"Oh that is fun. There is so many different things I can tell you about and show you." I wash up my hands.
Walking over to the pantry, I look over all the different things inside. One by one, I pull out different ingredients.
"So with all of this we can make up a chocolate pie, doughnuts dipped in chocolate, pudding, tarts. You pretty much can name it all." I laugh.
We all agree to making up the chocolate pudding and then I show them how to make a doughnut type pastry to place the pudding inside just to make it more of a delicate dessert.
"Where did you learn all of this?" Jasel pipes up while we wait for things to cook.
I shrug my shoulders. "Most of it from my mother. I also worked in a diner while human and not only served food but helped the cooks. Then as a vampire I took on small jobs over the years to make money to pay for things too within restaurants."
"I do have a question." Looking between Jasel and Blaze.
They nod and smile. You can truly tell they are siblings.
"All the time I stayed with you, never once did you magic up food. Then you haven't done it either I am guessing with you talking about failed desserts you have done through the years. Why not just chant some words and poof there is the best dessert every?"
They both laugh like crazy. Probably doesn't help I used my hands to show the 'poof' part.
"You can but it is even worse than a failed baking attempt. Magic makes food taste horrible. Just like you know if someone used magic on you because it tastes the worst right after and nothing gets the taste out of magic." Jasel shivers.
"She gagged for several hours after." Blaze laughs.
We finish up dinner and everyone takes things out to the table. Everyone is waiting on us at the table, and I place a roll once more on Chester's plate and break it open to cool faster for him. All the others move a moment later, finally getting their food. Still something I want to tell them not to do, but it will be pointless.
Once everyone has ate and the men cleaned up the kitchen, they were more than thrilled to have dessert. We all talk and laugh the evening away.
By time it is dark, Jasel gets a little quiet. While I hold a sleeping Chester in my arms, with him having climbed over and fell asleep not to long ago.
"Are you okay?" I ask Jasel.
"Yeah." She nods.
Blaze walks out of the kitchen a moment after with all the other guys. Blaze hugs Jasel from behind and stands back up.
"I will be back as fast as I can. Plus, I promise to write and send messages very often to where you know how the hunt is going for the salvia elegans." Blaze smiles to her.
"What is that your looking for?" I speak up.
"Pineapple sage, it the easier name for it. The one thing that will be hard to find for the spell. I am hopefully through the hunt of finding it the rest of the spell will be found as well. When I come back, I plan for us to be able to perform the spell." Blaze smiles and hugs me a moment, before kissing Chester on the head.
"Thank you for doing this." I give a sad smile.
"No sad face, just as I told Jasel earlier. You are a sister to me too and just like I have for Jasel, I want you to be happy and safe." Blaze smiles.
Zane and Blaze shake hands. Jasel stands and moves to sit next to me, her arms going around me and her son, while she buries her head into my shoulder. I move an arm up and rub her side, while I feel wetness through my shirt.
"I am so sorry, he is leaving for a little bit. All beause of me too." I whisper, starting to think it is to much on what they are doing.
Jasel pops her head up and I wipe her cheeks. "Nonsense, we both want to do this for you. It just hurts he is going to be away for a little bit. Also these are happy tears because he will be coming back and staying, because of you I am also getting my brother back and he isn't worried anymore."
Conan takes Chester from my arms and carries him once him and Jasel call it a night. Once Blaze waved once more and then vanished from teleporting.
"Ready for bed, mi tesoro?" Zane wraps his arms around me.
"Yes but not for sleep."
