Comeback
When they got home, Phoenix dragged Sterling to her room and told him to have a seat while she spoke with him.
“First, I want to thank you for letting me stay here with you and also for the show of love and support throughout this period of my life but I have got a favor to ask of you,”
“What can that be?”
“I’d like to resume work. I haven’t done anything contrary to what Doctor Hailey told me and I know and I can feel it in my bones that I’m both physically, emotionally, psychologically fit to resume work and you know that,” Phoenix said while making her face irresistible by giving Sterling the puppy eyes.
“I know you’re fit to work, I just wanted you to be at home where I am rest assured that you’re save,”
“I know and it’s been a month already. Please, do this for me,”
“Sure, when do you want to resume work?”
“On Monday; but we will go together. Then after I have met with the heads of department, you can be on your merry way to your company. Besides, we will still meet home after work, so we won’t miss each other that much. What do you say?”
“Okay then, let’s do that. I’m okay as long as you still live here,”
“Okay then, it is settled…. You can go to the study and get work done while I check on the help and see if dinner is ready. If it is, then I’ll come get you from the study,”
“Sure thing; guess what?”
“What, what is it?”
“You are already acting as my wife; keep up the good work,”
“Go away Sterling,” Phoenix picked up a throw pillow and threw it at Sterling but he dodged it, making his way out of her room and to the study while laughing.
‘Tsk, this guy, he was going to be the death of me’

I was in the study still getting work done when a knock on the door brought me back to reality.
“Come on in,” I knew it was Phoenix, so I wasn’t skeptical about whom it was.
“Hey, how is it going?”
“It’s going okay; I’m almost done with these,”
“You know that you don’t have to finish all of them today right? I mean, it’s just Friday and you’ve got Saturday and Sunday to go,”
“I know but I still have to spend time with you,”
“Whatever you say, Sterling; dinner is ready, let’s go,”
“Right behind you ma’am,”
When they both got down to the dining room, the dining table was decorated with some assorted food which was to Phoenix, easy to make but to Sterling, it felt like a whole ton of work. Curious about Phoenix working in the kitchen, he had to ask just to be sure.
“You didn’t exactly make this, did you?”
“No, I didn’t; you warned against that. I just told the help what I was craving for,”
“Now, you’re being obedient. Tell me, what you were craving for,”
“I was craving for egg rolls, grilled cheese and tomato pasta. The help was indeed helpful,”
“It smells nice; hopefully it taste nice too,”
“It’s this baby’s fault; tsk, craving my foot. If I follow this baby’s every whim, I’m going to be as fat as a cow by the time I’m 5 months gone,”
“It’s normal in women. I have been doing a lot of research lately about pregnancies and I feel I know enough for the early stages,”
“Okay, enough talking about this and let’s eat,”

The weekend went by smoothly with Sterling spending as much time as he could with Phoenix. It was a Monday and Phoenix was eager to get to work as well. Seeing that she wasn’t with her car at the moment, she had to tag along with Sterling in his own ride.
“Hey, are you coming down anytime soon,” Sterling called for Phoenix from downstairs.
“I’m coming, give me a minute to put on my shoes,”
A minute later as promised, Phoenix came downstairs looking sexy as ever in her two piece suit which consisted of a red colored jacket, a fitted white long sleeve shirt and a red colored fitted skirt and a white stiletto heels.
Everything felt perfect from her head to toe; her make up didn’t fail her either with her red colored lips that could seduce any man.
For a minute, Sterling was in a daze at how dazzling she looked; she was a real goddess and the colors fitted her skin so well that it made even the average office lady a learner.
“Wow, I am speechless; do you do anything extra to look this perfect; even your hair looks so good,”
“Thank you so much, the compliments are too much for me to absorb this early in the morning. You don’t look so bad yourself; you look stunning too. Just so you know, you’ve already informed the media that we are together, I don’t want any other woman touching you other than me,” Phoenix was teasing him but she wasn’t lying either. Sterling always lived up to expectation just as he did just now.
“Well, let’s go,”

PHOENIX CORP. HQ
All the staffs of PHOENIX CORP. didn’t know that Phoenix would resume office that day but as expected, they all stood in their usual manner to welcome Sterling Tyrell. Phoenix felt like making things a bit more dramatic by waiting behind after Sterling left the car.
“Good morning sir,” everyone chorused as usual; it almost sounded like an anthem to Sterling.
“Yes, good morning guys,”
After seeing Sterling and expecting him to be at alone, they got the shock of their lives when Liyah turned behind and spotted Phoenix behind them. Not being able to contain her excitement anymore, she squealed.
“Miss Phoenix,” at the mention of Phoenix’s name, all the heads of department stopped in their tracks and turned towards her direction; all Sterling could do was smirk because he had expected their surprise outburst.
“Hello everyone, I’m so sorry for not informing you guys about my sudden arrival but in order not to create chaos outside here, it’s preferable if we move this surprise meeting to the conference room so that Mr. Sterling Tyrell can go back to his company as soon as possible,”
“Yes ma’am,” after the brief surprise meeting, everyone was moved to the conference for further discussion.
CONFERENCE ROOM
“I’d like to go straight to the point. I want to thank you guys for all the hard work you all have put in. thank you for trusting my decision of making Mr. Sterling Tyrell the interim CEO for a period of one month. I have seen the growth in this past month, I have seen the growth in Cooking Fest, I have gotten honest reviews and many more,”
“On behalf of all the leaders here, we’re pleased to welcome you back to the company,” Liyah said and the rest concurred with bright smiles on their faces which could mean either of two things; they couldn’t wait for Sterling to leave or they were honestly happy at Phoenix’s arrival.
“Well, moving forward, I’d like to personally thank CEO Sterling Tyrell for helping me run the company amidst your busy schedule; I am grateful,”
“You are welcome, Miss Mills,”
“After all this has been said and done, you all can go back to your respected duty post. Thank you once again,”
After the meeting was concluded, everyone left the conference room leaving Sterling and Phoenix alone.
“I guess you’re happy now; you’re finally back to where you belong,”
“Yeah, I am. I miss working and hosting Cooking Fest and all but then, it will keep me busy until the little bun in the oven is fully ready to be taken out,”
“You won’t need to wait for it to get ready, you’ll stop working immediately you are in your third trimester and that’s final,”
“Yeah, I know; I wouldn’t do that to myself either,”
“Well, I have to go now. I’ll see you at home,”
“Yeah, you will after all, you will come pick me up; I didn’t come with my car but it is okay if you’re busy,” They hugged each other for a brief moment before Sterling left the office.
