Another Shocking Surprise
(2 WEEKS LATER___GALA NIGHT)
(Author’s POV)
The gala night was a few hours away and Phoenix hadn’t thought of what to wear yet. As indecisive as she was, she knew she had to get something presentable and sultry to wear for the gala; a dress that could hide the baby bump, seeing that the bump was very visible now. Confused, she called Liyah to ask for help.
“Hey Liyah, I need your help,”
“My help, what do you want me to do?”
“I need a dress to wear for the gala night; I don’t know what to do,”
“What? The event is just a few hours away, why don’t you have a dress yet?”
“I don’t know either! Can you help me out here?”
“Sure, I will but bills on you though,”
“Of course, just have it delivered to my house,”
“Okay. Let me get on it,”

Hours later…..
An hour and two hours later, a packaged arrived at the apartment and Phoenix went to the front door to pick it up. She wondered what kind of dress Liyah picked got for her. After getting the package, she dragged herself and her protruding stomach to the room she shared with Sterling and quickly unsealed the box. Phoenix was surprise at the dress; she honestly didn’t expect it to be that beautiful and to think that it fit her skin tone perfectly well--- she was excited. The dress was a Chilly red off the shoulder gown that was tight from her burst to her waistline and from there, it was a ball gown that had a slit in front of it and the slit started from her mid-thighs to the end of the gown and then the shoe was splendid! A maisel sandals feature straps with clusters of pearls on it and it was the same color as that of the gown. Indeed, she was going to go to the event looking all shades of red!
(Phoenix POV)
I gasped in awe when I saw the gown that Liyah got for me and the first thing that came to my mind was to call her and thank her for it but before I could do that, Sterling walked into the room and I tried to hide the dress from him—where’s the fun in that if he sees the dress earlier than planned!
“What are you hiding from me?”
“It is my dress for tonight’s event and I don’t want you to see it just yet or else you will bring me bad luck,”
“That is so superstitious of you and besides, I thought that only worked on wedding outfits,”
“Yeah, it doesn’t matter; I make my own laws,”
“You’re just crazy but if that is the case, I guess we will both have to get dressed in separate so we don’t get to see each other until we’re both ready to leave for the event,”
“Such a sweet deal; well, it’s almost time for it and I need to start with the preparations and make a few calls too. Now, get your things and use any of the guest rooms available—you can go ahead and use the nursery,”
“You’re evil,”
Forcing Sterling out of the room wasn’t as hard as it was but then something interrupted any further actions from end because the doorbell rang and I had to go get it. I boxed up by outfit and hid it were Sterling couldn’t find it. That dumbass could do the craziest things ever. I went downstairs and made for the door; opening the door, I met a stunning woman who was pregnant on the other side of the door and I wondered who it was. Her blonde hair and impeccable blue eyes could draw any man’s attention and although she was pregnant, her skin looked flawless and her outfit too but I couldn’t get drowned in her beauty so I had to ask.
“Hello there, can I help you?”
“Hi, is Sterling home?”
“Before I answer that, what is your name so I can tell him that?”
“Just let him know that his pregnant girlfriend is here and I’m here to stay, so please, stay out of my way---whoever you are,”
“I’m sorry, what?”
“You heard me correctly; I’m sure there wasn’t water in my mouth when I said that. Now, move,”
Before I could say anything, the super gorgeous pregnant woman pushed me out of the way and made herself very comfortable in the living room. Broken was an understatement—I was numb from all the pain—I didn’t what to say or how to go about it. I guess it took me a while to get out of my shock because when I finally came through; there stood Sterling in all his glory, smiling down at me.
“Babe, I have been calling your name for some minutes and I can see you have a guest so I’m just going to go upstairs,”
“Oh no, there is no need for that, she’s not my guess but yours and apparently the child is yours too,”
“Wait, what? But I don’t know her,”
“But it’s obvious that she knows you,”
“I’m pretty sure a lot of people know me and can even claim that I got them pregnant too just to get at me or get my attention,”
“Oh come on now, don’t pretend that you don’t know me, darling Sterling,” the strange woman stood up from where she sat and walked towards Sterling and tried to touch him but she ended up making him flinch,”
“I am sorry, young lady but I don’t know you so you can’t pin this pregnancy on me,”
“Well, I guess we will do this the hard way then,”
I wondered what she meant by that but after getting her phone from her bag, she went through her phone for some seconds and I watched her do it all the while being numb with pain. After she was done doing whatever it was, she passed the phone to me and I took a look at the picture and there it was, a very naked Sterling and the lady in a compromising position--- this was it, I couldn’t stand it anymore.
Looking at both of them, I excused them and walked out. I could hear him calling me but I couldn’t answer him—why would i? he was just like the rest of them, cheating bastards. I knew that I was being petty for doing all of this and I knew very well that I couldn’t blame him because he probably didn’t know me by then and besides, the pregnancy would or would not be his but until the time comes to do a DNA test, that could take months and I can’t live with my heart in my hands knowing that the child could or could not be his.
I don’t care about what is going on downstairs, I will just call my hair stylist and makeup artiste to come over and get my whole appearance done for the event. Thank goodness the gown could cover up the baby bump a little bit although some really snoopy journalist or paparazzi can spot it out if they really looked. Not caring for one second, I picked up my phone and called my stylist. It’s funny that I don’t even remember their names that well.
“Hey, Ella Mai, can you come over to my apartment in 30 minutes?”
“Yes ma’am, I’m sure I can keep up with the time,”
“That will be great but I don’t mean Mr. Tyrell’s house; I mean my own house,”
“Oh, okay”
“Yes, meet me there in 30 minutes so we’d be done and over with soon enough,”
“I’m on my way,”
“Thank,”
Well that was easy; all I need now is to call the makeup artiste and give her the same information.
“Hey, Trina, can you come over to my former apartment in the next minutes? I need my makeup done like an hour before the event starts,”
“Yes ma’am, I will be on my way there now,”
Okay, now that that has been sorted out, I need to leave this place so my mood won’t be ruined more than it already is. I picked up my outfit still in its box, looked around for what other things I needed, got them and went downstairs. I dreaded going downstairs but that was the only way to leave the house.
When I got downstairs, I met Sterling in an heated argument with the mysterious lady whose name I don’t even know.
“Babe, can we talk about this, please?”
“Don’t call me that and please, respect yourself by being with the mother of your child. I’m sure she’s gone through so many ordeals trying to get here and one more thing; you really should get security all over this place because it isn’t safe anymore. I’m just going to go back to my place until all this blows over,”
“Phoenix, you can’t leave me like this,”
“Well, I would really love to stay and have a chat with the future mother of your child but I think we both are running late for an important event and we both need to get ready. Bye, Sterling,”
I walked out of Sterling’s house with a heavy heart, not knowing what next comes my way--- indeed life had dealt with me all around.
(Sterling’s POV)
Everything seems to be falling apart. I don’t know how it got to this point but right now, I couldn’t think of any other thing than calling Denzel for a quick advice because right now, I couldn’t even advice myself. The strange pregnant woman looks vaguely familiar but I can’t recognize her and I know she’s lying because I haven’t slept with any woman other than Phoenix so the only thing keeping me from shredding this woman into shreds is because the baby inside of her—whoever the baby is. I excused myself to my room and called Denzel and thank goodness he picked up ASAP.
“Hey bro, what’s up?”
“Hey man, things aren’t looking so good,”
“What do you mean?”
“Some woman showed up at my door step claiming that she’s carrying my child and because of that, Phoenix just left my apartment back to her place!,”
“Oh, hell no; How the hell did that happen, I thought you didn’t have a score until you met Phoenix?”
“Exactly bro, meaning the pregnancy isn’t mine but here she is, dumping it on me,”
“Well, just for the sake of the event. Give her a place to sleep tonight and then we will do something about it tomorrow when I come over,”
“Sure thing man, later,”
After I finish talking to Denzel, I don’t want to take any chances with her, so I call Rex, one of ,y guards up and gave him strict information.
“Rex, you see that woman in the sitting room,”
“Yes sir,”
“Don’t let her out of your sight, do you hear me?”
“Yeah, loud and clear boss,”
“Immediately I leave, watch her like a hawk,”
Letting Rex off, I dressed up quickly and left the house for the venue of the event. I miss Phoenix and it is not up to an hour since she left.
