Chapter 78 She's real
Chapter 78 She's real
"Wait, you are Elizabeth's mother?" I ask.
"Yes. I see my daughter doesn't talk much about me."
"Yeah, Elizabeth doesn't talk about anyone or her past for that matter." Daniel answers.
"I do understand that my daughter has changed over the years." She says trailing off, as if remembering something. "Anyways, where is she?"
Everyone's eyes turn to me, waiting to see if I am going to answer her question, as if afraid to say anything about her around me. I stay quiet and avoid any eye contact. Thankfully, Daniel chose to break the awkward silence.
"Uh, last night when giving birth," He takes in a breath before continuing. "Elle, had some complications-" Rhea, then cuts him off.
"I am aware of her state." I look at her shocked and mostly confused. She looks directly at me with a small smile. "Please take me to her."
Confused on why she wants to see her, I raise an eyebrow but I'm distracted when I hear, Cora, crying behind us.
All of us turn around to see Simon trying to calm her down her by the door. Rhea, walks past us and heads straight towards them. I follow behind her and the others, behind me.
Cora stops crying once Rhea stands in front of her. "You must be, Coraline." She puts her index finger out Cora and she wraps her tiny fingers around Rhea's finger. "You're a strong one." She smiles and leans closer to her. "Don't worry, mommy will be ok." She looks back up at me and asks, "May I see her, now?"
"Yes." I said without a second thought. Something tells me that she can help and I am not going to pass up the chance. I lead her to the room, Elle is in and while it hurts to see her in this state, I am also shocked.
Her stomach has gone down, all her swelling is down, her skin looks flawless. Her entire body looks healed.
"What happened?" I ask rushing over to, Elle.
"Elle and I crossed paths while she was in this state. She's a wonderful person and I couldn't let her die. Her story isn't over yet." I look at her with furrowed eyebrows, confused. "I gave her some of my power to draw from so she could heal herself, along with my daughter." Rhea adds. She looks at Lyra and then to me. "I am sure, Lyra, already told you that after the war has ended we will be leaving, so it will not be forever." She says referring to, Elizabeth.
"What about her wolf, Eva?"
"Her wolf is her true natural nature. She will just have to wait and see if she will ever surface again."
"So, when does she wake up?"
"I can wake her up now." She steps to the other side of the bed and brushes, Elle's hair back. She rest her hand on her forehead before whispering, "Wake up, sweetie."
A couple seconds passes by until I am found dumbfounded when, Elle gasps awake.
ELLE'S POV
*After giving birth*
I lay still on the cold ground, not knowing how to respond. I can't move, or speak, I'm just laying here in the dark. I'm not scared, just calm... it's peaceful.
No pain, no worries. Nothing.
Am I dead? Is this the after life? It's not what I thought it would be, but it's also not a disappointment.
"Hello?" I slowly open my eyes hearing a calm voice.
I am surprised to find myself sitting on the edge of the cliff. I look around confused. Wasn't I lying in darkness? I continue to look around for the voice I heard but I don't see anyone. I am distracted by the blue birds flying past me and my eyes follow their movements. A smile spreads across my face as the sunlight shines down on me and just hearing the water beneath me.
"Elle." I hear the voice again. I turn around to see a woman, looks to be in her mid 30's. She's beautiful, with long black hair.
I tilt my head, trying to figure out where I know her from, it feels like I should know her.
"Do I know?"
"No, but you know my daughter." I furrow my eyebrow together and watch as she sits beside me on the cliff. "I am Rhea, Elizabeth's mother."
"Elizabeth?" Small things slowly comes to mind and my eyes widen in realization. "Elizabeth's mother? Rhea, as in-?"
"The first Succubus, yes." She finishes for me. I look at her in pure shock, I never knew, Elizabeth's mother was the first succubus and that would mean all the things she has went through. It makes me angry to even think of what happened to her. "Do not feel sad for me, dear."
"I'm not, I'm angry." I growl.
"We all are."
I stay silent as all these questions flow throw my mind. How am I seeing her? Where am I? Oh my god, Andrew... Cora!
"Wait am I.... dead?"
"You are, sort of. You are still holding on to life but you're too weak to bring yourself back."
"No, no, I need to go back. I made a promise to, Andrew and Anna. I can't give up."
"I am happy to hear that." She smiles. "I can help you."
"How?"
"My power." She states. "Lyra, should be trying to bring me back soon and for now, I can give you some of my energy, just to allow your body to heal."
"You can do that?"
"There is a few perks that come with being the first succubus." She smirks. "Plus, it has to do with much practice and knowledge."
"So... will it bring me back?"
"With some more of my help but only when, Lyra pulls me back to the land of the living."
I let a breath relief out. "Thank you."
"I should be honest, I am doing this for my daughter but you are also my family and you have a good heart, Elle." She places her hand over mine. "Your story isn't over yet, Sweetie."
I smile at her, thankful to hear her say those words. I didn't know what I'd expect, Elizabeth's mother to be like but I know it's not this. She's actually really sweet and breathtaking. I look away from her and back at the view of the sun hovering over the mountain.
"How am I even seeing you right now? I thought you all were in a deep sleep."
"I don't know. I just woke up and found myself here." She pauses for a couple seconds before continuing. "I felt power, as if it wanted me to find you... to help you."
She got my attention saying the last part. What power would wake her up from a deep sleep a witch put her in?
The problem is, I don't know if I should be worried or be thankful.
"Why am I here?" I begin to look around the place.
"This is your happy place isn't it?" I nod to her question. "Well, just like your mother's garden, which is where she is most peaceful, the cliff is like your garden."
I look back at her and ask, "So, this is where I go when I die?"
"Yes. It's your paradise."
I never actually thought about my time after death. I have been so caught up with life, I never wondered what would happen to me after, but knowing this.... it gives me peace inside.
"It's time sweetie, I can feel, Lyra calling me." I watch as she stands up and I follow her movements. "Are you ready?"
I take a deep breath and nod. She places her hand over my heart and close her eyes. There is this bright white light that is passing through her hand to my chest. It feels like I am being electrocuted but it's not painful, I just feel more alive.
If that makes sense.
A minute passes and she stops, looking drained. I guess it took a toll on her. "Are you ok?" I ask.
"Yes, dear. I will gain my strength once, Lyra pulls me to the other side." She takes a step back away from me. "I'll see on the other side." She says before she vanishes in a bright white light. I uncover my eyes as the light dims and I sigh.
I sit back down on the edge of the cliff to pass the time, waiting for me to reunite with my family. I can't believe the pain, Andrew must be going through. A tear rolls down my face, remembering the pain in his eyes but then the memory of him smiling when he met, Cora, sets a smile on my face.
I hate the thought of me missing out on watching her grow up. Seeing her first steps, hearing her first words, tell her stories, us having our girl talks, meeting her mate and falling in love.
I want to be there for all of that.
I begin to feel myself being pulled between two things. "Wake up, sweetie." I hear, Rhea's voice.
I gasp opening my eyes to find myself surrounded by people. I barely get to see their faces until I am pulled back to the cliff. I put my hand on my chest, trying to catch my breath.
It didn't work. Why didn't it work?!
I stand up and back away from the edge with tears pulling down my face.
I need to go back!
"What do you want from me?!" I scream on the top of my lungs as I look up at the sky. I don't know who I am screaming at. The moon goddess, my mom, Rhea... or just my weak ass.
I just need someone to blame.
I then let one last scream out to let out my frustration.....
~~~~~
ANDREW'S POV
"What the hell just happened?!" I ask.
"I-I don't know." Rhea, looks up at me confused. "I thought it would work."
"Clearly, it didn't!" I shout.
"Andrew." Jeremiah puts his hand on my shoulder but I push him off.
"I can help." Lyra, says catching everyone's attention.
"How? You couldn't do it before when I asked!"
"I didn't know she was stuck between two worlds, this side and the after life. I wouldn't have been able to get to her from the other side with me being here either way. Now that I know, Rhea, gave her some of her energy and it was enough to heal her body, I can heal her mind now. My magic can bring her back."
I want to believe her but I can't keep putting hope into this and end up disappointed in the end. "Do whatever you want." I push past everyone and quickly walk outside, needing to get out, to get some fresh air.
I scream on the top of my lungs, needing to get all my anger and pain out. My chest burns at where she should be. She's missing from it.
My heart, she's missing from my heart.
All I want is her to come back to me and Cora.
I stand there for about five minutes lost in my thoughts. I wipe the tears from my face and sigh, ready to go back inside to my daughter.
I turn around to see a familiar pair of brown eyes staring at me. My breath is caught in the back of throat as I look at her in disbelief. She slowly begins to walk towards me barefoot with those tiny feet of hers.
A huge grin grows on her face when I begin to take small steps towards her, afraid I might be dreaming.
Am I dreaming?
She suddenly begins to run towards and on instinct I catch her as she jumps into my arms. I sigh of relief as I feel her touch, it's not a dream... This is real.
Oh my god, she's real!
My heart swells hearing her giggle, it feels like forever ago since I have heard her laugh. She pulls away, instantly smashing her lips against mine. I groan missing the feeling and taste of her lips. I hug her tighter and slowly put her down without breaking the kissing.
That space I said that was empty earlier, forget about that. It's now filled again and I hope for good this time.
I can finally breath again.
I got my baby back.
We slowly pull away from the kiss and rest our foreheads against each other's, "Hi." She says so innocently.
"I love you." I said not wasting any time. She didn't hear me say it back and she has too now. "I didn't say it back." I remind her.
She cups my face and looks at me with that smile that makes my chest swell. "I love you."
I hear someone clear their throat. "I think someone wants to see you." We turn around to see Simon holding Cora.
Elle, immediately walks over to them and takes, Cora into her arms. "Hi, baby girl. It's mommy." Cora her tiny hand on her face and Elle, face brightens with a smile. Seeing the two of them together is something I never knew I needed. They are all I need.
"Is it just me or did you get bigger than I remember." Her joke made a frown form upon my lips. Her eyes meets mine and she walks over to me. "I missed you both so much." She whispers.
I pull her closer to me, hugging her from behind. I kiss her on top of her forehead and I look at, Cora, to see she is looking at us with her big doe eyes, fascinated by her parents.
"We missed you too." I whisper.
