Chapter 82 Pain and fear
Chapter 82 Pain and fear
Cristian kept looking at me weird, as if confused and it's kind of bugging me. I haven't addressed it to him because we were around people but now it's clear.
"Why are looking at me like that?" I ask.
He looks at me caught off guard. "Uh... your aura. It doesn't affect me anymore." He says confused.
The mark. I don't want to hide this from him and he is bound to find out at some point.
I move my hair and show him my neck. "I'm marked."
He looks shocked at first but quickly hides it. "Congrats. I'm happy for you." He doesn't seem that happy.
He gives me a small smile before leaving the cave. I frown at the thought of him being mad but then the warnings go off, distracting me.
~~~~
"Rising and shine, sleepy head!" Someone shouts into my ear.
On instinct, I jolt up in the bed, swinging my fist in the person's direction. I open eyes to see the person holding their nose while stumbling back. I snarl at them before body slamming them to the ground. The person groans from the impact and I don't waste anytime by wrapping my hands around their throat.
Once finally getting my vision back clearly, I realize it's Simon.
"What the hell, Simon?! There is a baby in here!" I point to Cora's crib which is empty.
Where is my baby?
He repeatedly smacks my hands and I remove them from around his neck before sitting on the bed.
"No there isn't. She is currently having breakfast with everyone else and you are the only one still asleep."
I run my hands over my face then look next to me to see the bed is empty. "Why didn't Andrew wake me up?"
"He knew you were exhausted so he let you sleep in but I wasn't going let you sleep too late. Today is a big day!"
I sigh, getting off the bed. "Right."
"I forgot how grumpy you are in the morning." Simon, comments as I walk past him. Too tired to make a reply, I just continue to the kitchen where everyone is.
"Look whose a wake." Andrew looks up at me with a bright smile as he's playing with Cora, who is laying in a small bed Daniel made for her which I think he was trying to make a car seat but he wasn't successful.
"More like woken up very disturbingly." I say directing towards Simon. I walk behind Andrew and hold him the face, bringing his head back and peck him on the lips. "Did you feed Cora?"
"Yep, she is changed, fed and a happy baby." He grins. Suddenly I was happy again, just by seeing his smile. I give him one last kiss before sitting between him and Jeremiah.
I look next to me to see my daughter's eyes following my every trail and just by her facial expression, I know she's judging us. I laugh seeing her feisty look and rub her tummy.
"How did you not wake up this morning? She woke up the entire house." Daniel asks. I just shrug and turn away from her to pour myself a cup of orange juice.
I look around to see that Lyra, Rhea nor Junior isn't in here. "Where is everyone else?"
"Lyra is making sure Rhea is up to full strength and then Rhea is going to try and see into Junior's mind." Jeremiah fills me in.
"Fun." Simon says nonchalantly while downing his juice. From his actions I know he's stressed and so am I.
My dream this morning, I remember that night. I mean, how could I forget?
That's the night I lost Cristian, or I thought I did.
He has been on my mind all night and I can't help but get shivers of just thinking of what Nikolaos did to him. How he got there and what he's become.
Apart of me doesn't believe this, I don't want to believe it. I thought I said goodbye to him three years ago and now there is chance I might see him again....
I don't know how I feel about this.
I know Simon is stressed out about this too. I saw his face yesterday, he couldn't believe it himself. I could see the mixed emotions of relief and fear and it makes me sad for him. He wants to hide it with him being goofy around us to get our minds off of it but I can see right through him.
He's afraid of Cristian.
"Hello, mother Theresa?" Simon calls out while snapping his fingers in my direction. I snap out of my thoughts and raise a questioningly eyebrow. "I asked if there is any changes with Elizabeth or Eva?"
"Oh." I can feel Elizabeth, it's very faint but she's there. I frown, still not feeling Eva, well not completely. I have this feeling and it's very familiar. It's not good or bad, it's just a feeling and I don't get it. "I feel Elizabeth."
I could see Andrew frown from the corner of my eye and I knew it was Damon, disappointed. He got hope after Lyra woke me up. Andrew, would inhale my scent at least twice a day to calm him down but it's still not enough. He wants Eva... and so do I.
It breaks me to think I could have lost my wolf side forever. And no, I don't have any of my wolf power.
Nothing.
No speed, no super hearing, no healing. Just nothing.
Lyra says to give it time and that's what I am doing but I am slowly getting impatient.
"I'm sure she'll resurface." Simon sends me a reassuring smile and at the same time I feel Andrew's hand over mine.
I am distracted by Rhea, Lyra and Junior walking into the room. "Is everything ok?" I ask.
"Yes. Rhea is at her full strength and she is ready." Lyra informs.
"So, what now?" Simon asks.
"She reads my mind." Junior answers.
"It's not reading your mind, dear. I am just tapping into your mind to see the past." She follows behind him as he takes a seat at the table.
He lets a breath out before asking. "Ok, so how does this work?"
"First, I'll place my fingers here." She says placing both her index and middle fingers on his temples. "Then I search." She closes her eyes and almost immediately, Junior gasp as he grips the table.
"Junior!" Simon, calls out freaking out.
"He's fine. He'll just have an headache after this." Rhea assures him before she continues.
After two long antagonizing minutes of waiting, Rhea finally stops and lets go of Junior. By her facial expression, she is conflicted.
"So many people there against their will. They are brain washed, serving him. It-It's terrible." She says in disbelief and disgust.
"Did you... see him?" Daniel asks with hope in his eyes.
"Cristian?" She asks. He nod and she looks at me as if scared of what she saw. "I saw Cristian's face and that is all. From what you have told me, nothing about that man is the same. What I saw was a monster, ready to be let off it's leash."
"What you are saying is that he's alive. We can save him." Daniel says.
"I doubt it."
"I am telling you, we can save my brother. If we could save over 30 rogues and Junior, we can save my brother." He says with a final tone.
Silence is passed through the room, no one knows what to say and I chose to say it for them. "I agree." I got everyone's attention.
"I believe we can save him and all the other people, Nikolaos has in there. We can't leave him like this."
"I'm with Elle." Simon charms in. I send him a smile, knowing he's afraid of facing Cristian again but he still wants to help him.
"You could have said 'with them' not just 'with Elle'" Jeremiah mutters.
"What is your problem?" Simon asks annoyed.
Knowing where this is going I quickly stop them. "Guys, please stop! No arguing."
"Whatever." Jeremiah stands up and storms out of the room. The entire room is left in silence as we all look at the doorway Jeremiah walked through. I then hear a chair being drawn on the floor.
Simon, is out of the room before anyone could stop him. "Uh, I'll talk to Simon." Junior says getting up and head in the direction Simon left.
"I need some fresh air myself." Daniel mumbles.
"Wai-" He was already out the door before I could I stop him. I stand there in disbelief looking at the almost empty room. I turn to Lyra and Rhea and they are both backing out of the room.
"We need to finish the spell before night fall." Was all they said before leaving.
I scuff turning around to see Andrew still sitting down next to our child. "At least you two didn't give up."
"No one gave up, Elle. They just need to process this."
"And, how have you processed this?"
"To be honest, it's been on my mind ever since." He pauses, taking in a breath before continuing. "I don't know how I feel about this. He and I never got on good terms but we both came together in the end to protect one thing." His eyes meets mine as he said the last part. "That's you, and he died trying, or we thought he did but I know one thing. I will always thank him for what he did for you."
Hearing him say that made me really happy. I never questioned him about his feels towards Cristian, because it was kind of weird and I didn't want to stir up anything.
I take a few steps towards him and he offers me his hand. I take it and he pulls me on to his lap.
"But, hearing how Rhea and Junior described him, I will not hold back on killing him if he ever tries to bring harm to you or Cora. And before you say it, I will try and help you to save him but if there is no hope for him, he's a goner." He adds.
I roll my eyes because I was going ask him to at least try to save him before taking action towards. He knows me too well. "Fine."
"Really?"
"Yes. He's been with Nikolaos for who knows how long. He could be too far gone but I'm not giving up on him without trying at least once."
"How did I get so lucky with you?"
"You did reject me at first so.. I don't know."
He is taken back by my answer and looks at me in shock. "Wow."
I laugh at the look on his face and place both my hands on his chest, leaning in. "I'm just playing with you." I give him a small kiss on the corner of his lips, teasing him.
"Nice joke." He cups me from the back of my head and pulls me in for a kiss. A long kiss.
I wrap my arms around his neck, melting into his arms. Before I could get remotely into it we hear a little someone asking for our attention.
We break away from the kiss and look to see Cora is looking at us with those judgy little eyes.
"Who you looking at?" Andrew asks with a smile.
~~~~~~
It's safe to say it is now night fall, the boys are still being stubborn and won't talk to each and Lyra is finally about to finish the spell tonight.
I am weirdly really anxious. My heart beats rising, I can't stay in one spot and for some reason, I keep looking up a the moon.
"Are you ok?" I sigh of relief once Andrew comes into sight.
"Uh.. yeah. Where is Cora?"
"Jeremiah is watching her."
"They're still not talking to each other?"
"No, but they'll come around. Trust me." I nod taking his word for it and look in the direction Lyra and Rhea are. They are both still chanting the same thing in Latin for the past 15 minutes.
"Is this how long it took to bring Rhea back?" I ask, Andrew not taking my eye off them.
"No, but they are bringing back hundreds of people back from the dead so I guess this will take more time." He whispers not wanting to disturb them.
A minute later Lyra stops and calls for me. I stand next to them on the stone and give her my hand.
"Since Elizabeth is back, so is her power and it will make the spell much stronger to have Rhea's blood, your blood and mine." She explains as she slits my hand middle which causes me to hiss from the sharp pain.
After draining the amount of blood she needs I remove my hand from over the bowl and step back as they begin chanting again, but different words this time.
"They're starting." Andrew whispers as he takes me back a few feet further away from them. "It's best if we stay here."
I purse my lips and nod. I feel a stinging pain in my hand and I look to see my palm is healing. While I was happy to see that I healed so quickly, I am also hit with the worst headache.
"Ah!" I scream as I fall on my knees, feeling the pain in my back.
"Elle, what's happening?"
"I don't know." I cry at the same time feeling my arm break. "AH!"
"It's the full moon. You have to get her from here. Now!" Lyra shouts.
"Why?"
"She's shifting into her wolf." At the same time I feel my spine rearranging slowly but so painfully.
"Why does it hurt so much?!" I cry.
"Your wolf died and so did you, Elle. Eva is now being reborn and it will hurt just like the first time. I need you get her away from here, now. It's not safe."
Without asking anymore questions, Andrew helps me off the ground and takes me in the opposite direction.
Barely getting too far, I stop. "No, I can't." I say out of breath, pushing away from Andrew. "It hurts too much." The pain is gradually gets worse. Everywhere!
I can feel my claws growing out, along with my teeth. I can feel every bone in my body break as each second goes by.
"I know, baby but you can get through it. You just have to-"
I snap my head up and say, "I CAN'T!" You could hear both Eva and I's voice in one. She has resurfaced but she's in pain.
We both are.
