CRASHES
“Stop right there, Mr!” She cuts him off once again, and I was about to fire at her to stop being a bitch to the officer, but the kind officer holds my hand, stopping me. It seems like he is not one of those hotheads; otherwise, he would not entertain this from my sister. She looks like she is about to burst. “Officer? Do you have a sister or a brother?” She fires.
Huh? What is with her interrogations now, huh?
“No. I am…”
“Great! Now I understand why you are doing this. You just do not know the feeling of seeing your siblings in great danger. You don't know how it feels, and that is why you are pushing my sister into the same danger that you are trying to protect her from without a second thought. If it were your very own sister, would you do the same to her as you are doing to my sister right now? I guess no. Or maybe you don't."
“Enough!”
Jeez!
The roof of this entire roof was a bit lucky to not blow up from that howl that left Grace steping back and tucking her neck inside. She went too far, I guess, and the officer could not take it any further. Well, I cannot blame him. Everyone has their limits, and my sister is pushing her luck way too much.
“Yes, I don’t have a sister or a brother, but I am neither selfish nor heartless! I am a trained officer too! Before I say something, I think about it. Before I act, I think about all the risks involved. I don’t act on impose. It is not only you who care about your sister. We all do. She is an icon. If something bad happens to her, the whole nation will be at a loss, and since she is under our care, the entire police department will be deemed incompetent! So, do you still think I don’t know what I am doing?” The officer barked again.
“And you should understand where I am coming from, Officer.” Huh! This one does not know when to shut up, I think. She is back again, fully charged. “She is the only family that I have left. Understand my situation.” She insists, but cautiously this time around.
“Believe me, I know exactly what your fears are, Grace. But trust us. Trust me. Nothing bad will happen to your sister.” The officer speaks after calming down a little.
“But…”
“Grace?” I stop her. “Come on! The officer said it, right? I know you care so much for me, but he is not just letting me go there all alone. They will be there with us full time.” I say.
“Us?” She implores.
“Yes, of course! What did you think, huh? That I will leave you cooked up in this room? No! When was even the last time you watched me perform on stage?” I ask.
“Well, that must be when you launched the album. But I don’t want to die, you know! You are trusting this guy too much!” She hisses the last part.
Just then, a slight knock on the door summons the officer to the door. “Sir, there is a call for you from the major.” The officer says, handing officer Martin the phone.
“Thank you.” He takes the phone and puts it in his ear. “Officer Martin on speaker, sir!” He says this to his superior. A moment passes as he listens carefully without saying a word. Then finally, he speaks, turning to Grace and me. “Copy, sir! I will bring them right away. Excuse me, sir!” He drops the call.
Us? Have those bastards been basted?
“Is there a problem?” Grace asks in a tone that is so off. It is like she is wishing something was wrong so that she can pin it on the poor officer. I think they are not vibing at all. But the officer is not the issue here. He looks so clean-hearted. It is my sister’s demons that are detesting him for no reason at all.
“The people they were chasing after escaped. They opened fire, and that is how they were able to escape. They also had a backup, which is why they outsmarted the police.” Damn! What? This is not freaking GPD at all! Then what now? How do we know what those dogs wanted, huh?
“Outsmarted indeed. And these are the people you are entrusting your life to, Gia? They could not catch them, so how on earth are you sure they can keep us away from them, huh?”
I knew this one was waiting for even a slight opportunity to strike. She is being way too harsh.
“But they caught two guys.” The officer says:.
“Where are they?"
Even my sister forgot her anger toward the poor guy as we both inquired together.
Those fools will be the key to knowing everything.
“They are detained at the station, but there is a problem.’’ The officer speaks, and Grace loses herself again.
“Seriously? I knew it! That should have probably been the first sh*t you started with. It has been proven without a single doubt time and again, and there must be something bad here as long as the police are involved. What now, officer? Did the guys run away from the police too? Some mere two guys outsmarted the entire station." She squeals.
God, please help this sister of mine, ooh? She is being too much. This temper is not good for her. She is not even letting the officer explain the full story. She better come down before she develops hypertension from this.
“You talk too much. And you demean too much too. You should have let me finish what I was saying. The two of them are at the station. They cannot break free from the police, but they refuse to say anything.” The officer explains, banking his eyes on my sister to perhaps warn her not to open her mouth ever again.
They are playing tough? Hard-core? They must be working for someone so dangerous for them to play hard. But I don’t give a single fuck! Whether they are working for a monster or the devil himself, they must open their stinking mouths and tell me what I need to hear.
“So what now, officer? They refuse to talk, and so what? What will happen?” I ask because Grace seems to have taken the officer’s memo seriously and kept her lips tightly sealed.
“Of course we will not leave it at that. We will employ all the legal means to try and force any information from them. But before that, the major asked that I take you down to the station so that you can see whether you can identify them or either of them.” The major explains.
The better, because I want to see the faces of those ugly fools. I want them to look me in the face and tell me who on earth they are, who the fuck they are working for, and what the hell they want from me. “Alright. Let us go.” I say this to the officer.
