PLAN FAILURE
DEEP's POV
We get to the damn Wells club, and the oddity can be detected from the outside, or maybe it's only I who feels odd about this. We park our cars outside, grab our guns, and walk out. Paul brought a whole lot of policemen, which I think is a good thing given the psychos we are dealing with. We knock on the gate, and it opens slowly, revealing an armed guard who meets with bullets from Paul’s guns.
We force our way in. A few more guards come to our view, whom we shoot down in a minute. We walk in further, to the second gate. These guards are nothing compared to the battalion of armed men that Gia described to us. Weird! My thoughts, though. "Who is it?" A guard asks from inside the gate.
"I have come to collect the merchandise for Mr. Dario!" I respond. Mr. Dario is one of the biggest clients here, according to the evidence that Gia gave to Paul, and we confirmed that when Paul paid him a visit in his club. It wasn't easy to get Dario to help us because he is as guilty as this monster that we are chasing, but Paul had a plan. A fake promise that just needed to be polished to sound undoubtedly convincing is all we needed, and the idiot fell for it. What he doesn't know is that he will end up behind bars after this, just like his security goons, because Paul swapped them with police officers and took the bastards into custody.
"Alright, I will confirm if there is an order for him, sir." The guard says, and I let him do his job, and I hold my gun steady in my hand. A minute later the door opens, and without waiting to hear what he had to say, I shoot him, and Paul and some of his men walk with me inside, while the rest are left to be on the lookout. No more bodyguards?
We walk into the black building after making sure the compound is clear, eliminating the few unaware guards we find on the way. Through the dark stairways, we find no one. There is no sound here except that of silence. I throw Paul a skeptical look, but he pleads with me with looks to calm down, which I shrug off. We split up into groups for an easier and faster search; Paul and I went to the said entertainment base as directed by Gia, but the only things we found were well-arranged seats and tables and nothing else.
"No one is here." I say to Paul: He knows I will feed that monster with bullets the moment I lay my eyes on him, which is why he chose to stick with me. I understand his job is to investigate and arrest criminals according to the law, but I think there are people for whom even a lifetime in jail will be such an easy punishment. People like Ejay Harrison Wells, Matthew, or whatever his name is. "Let's check his office," Paul says.
"Don't you think he would have noticed us if he was around?" I snap, and anger starts to skyrocket. We can't fail. This mission cannot fail, because I can't let Gia risk her life by going back to that monster. "Something is odd here." I remarked, and I know he knows it too; he just doesn't want to substantiate my thoughts.
"Let's go." He says he is walking out, and I follow behind. We enter Ejay's empty office, and nothing is in here. Even the shelves are empty, and at this point, I see even Paul is worried. A minute later, the other policemen come in, and we both look at them with expectations.
"Negative, sir. We didn't find anything or anyone." One of them reports
Screw that bastard!
"Damn that bastard." Paul curses.
"Do you think Dario might have sold us out?" I ask.
"No. He is under tight supervision. My men would have called me." Paul says.
"Then how do you explain this? How did Ejay know we were coming?" I ask again.
"I don't know, man! I'll call that scumbag, Dario, to find out whether he knows something." He fishes his phone out and makes a call, putting the speaker on.
"Detective?" Dario speaks.
"Mr. Dario. I will go straight to the point."
"Is there a problem?"
"A big one. The only thing we were able to find in this club was nothing but a few of Ejay's bodyguards. Nothing else. Anything you want to tell me?" Paul inquires.
"What more can I tell you detective? I already told you all that I know." The Dario fool says so casuly.
"So you are telling me that you don't have an idea of where he could be hiding right now?"
"I am not sure, detective. There is only one more place he could go to that I know of.
"Which is?" I hijacked the conversation, with Paul throwing me a murderous look.
"The main club, but I don't have an idea where exactly that is located. I only know of it's existence." I sigh with frustration. Damn it!
"I hope for your own good, Mr. Dario, that you are telling me the whole truth, because if I find out that you are concealing any information from me, however irrelevant it might be, you will be kissing the floor of a jail cell with a snap of a finger." Paul hangs up, and I thinkout loud.
"Why would that monster leave an empty building guarded?"
"The basement. Let's check it." Paul says, and we all run out. We get to the basement after dodging so many corners, and we break the door open.
"Well, well, well. The building isn't empty after all." Paul says as our eyes dart to the countless number of cartons almost filling the huge room and about ten fridges. Paul opens a carton while I move to check the fridges. "These are drugs," Paul says after tearing a few cartons. "Carry a few samples to the car and bring the camera." He orders his men and turns to me. "What do we have in there?"
I couldn't answer because what I was seeing was so shocking. I don’t believe; I can believe my eyes. The hell?! I push the fridge door wide open for everybody to see. "See for yourselves."
"What?" A chorus came from everyone, and they all come closer.
"Where the heck did he get all these from? And where exactly does he sell them?" I ask, because human organs are not like cabbage that you will buy and sell in a market or a grocery store.
"This is so serious. But wait, Gia mentioned about a hospital that Ejay normally goes to. It's where he took her after that accident." Paul says.
"Where is this hospital located? Does it have a connection with this?" I ask.
"That is what we need to find out. I will call the head of police to advise us on what to do with all these. "He makes a call to the head of police, while I take mine and dial Gia's number.
She must be sick and worried about what is happening over here, and as far as I know, this is not the kind of news she would like to hear; she has to know. "What the..." I dial her number again, but a second time, it goes to voice mail. I look at Paul, who just got off the phone with the director. "I can't contact Gia. Can you try Mayleen?" I say that fear is taking over me. I had a feeling she was hiding something from me when I left. I hope I was wrong, though.
"She isn't answering." Paul says.
What the heck is happening?
"Paul?" A lady's voice comes from the door, and we all turn to look at Mayleen. The look on her face speaks trouble. I look behind her, waiting to see another person walk in, but none does.
"Sheryl? What the hell are you doing here?" Paul says, walking to her.
"Where is Gia? Is she with you?" I question, but for some weird reason, she chooses to ignore me.
"Tell me you've caught Ejay." She pleads, but we all keep quiet. "A..and..th..the girls?" She asked, shaking, and Paul had to comfort her.
"I'm sorry, Sheryl. We didn't find them here." Paul says. "But we are not giving up. We will continue looking until we find him." Paul assures, but her next words tear my heart to a thousand pieces.
"That means he is with Gia right now." I feel like my spine just broke.
What’s that again? "What? We agreed that you two would not leave the house. How come you are here and Gia is with that monster?" I ask, forcing my eyes to remain as calm as possible, even though I know I am failing.
"She left, Deep. She went to that monster because she thought this would be the outcome, and Ejay will not spare anyone."
"And you let her go?" I shout.
"I am sorry, Deep. I tried, but there was nothing much I could have done, because even if it hurt me so much to watch her go back to that wretched monster, I understand why she had to do that." Mayleen says.
It's difficult, but I have to admit that Gia knows this monster better than we do. She warned us, but we thought our plan was excellent. The jerk is a fucking smart ass, I must say. But now I have another reason to hunt him down, and I hope he doesn'thurtGia.
"But we have to do something to help her asap. I don't even want to imagine what she is going through at the hands of that jerk at the moment." Mayleen says.
"Did she say where they were going to meet?" Paul asks.
"Yes, in her former house. But that was more than an hour ago. They can't be there anymore."
"You have been in this club for so long, Mayleen. Do you know where the main club is?" I ask.
"I do, but I don't even think of going there. It's way too dangerous. The security there is ten times tighter than here, and I am not talking about those creepy pests you killed outside. This club alone has about fifty bodyguards, so you can imagine what the main club's security would look like. And if that is where Ejay is, I'm sure he has tightened the security even more now." She says.
"Dangerous or not, we have to rescue Gia. What's more dangerous is every second that she stays with him." I state.
"Alright. Ah, David, I will leave you in charge here. Wait until the director arrives, and let me know what his orders will be immediately. Clear?" Paul asks.
"Clear, sir." David answers, and Paul turns to me. "Deep, let's go back to your house. We have to come up with a way to help Gia." The three of us walk out and hop in my car. Hang on, Gia! I won't let that jerk hurt you.
