Chapter 29
When they arrived at the mansion after the lunch meeting, Mateo immediately confronted his wife.
“Are you going crazy?!” Mateo pulled Chloe tightly by the arm.
Chloe winced as she tried to free her arm from Mateo’s grip. “Ouch! You’re hurting me, Mateo!” Chloe cried.
Mateo tightened his grip even more. “You’re
going to get hurt! What did you do?!” Mateo angrily demanded.
Chloe begged to be released. “P-please… Y-you’re hurting me,”
Mateo ignored her pleas as his anger took over.
“Answer me! What did you do? You embarrassed Ana!”
Chloe stopped and looked at Mateo, feeling even more nervous, as she had never seen her husband so mad before.
“Mateo, I’m your wife! I just did what was right!” Chloe cried out. Mateo turned to her and laughed sarcastically.
“Right? Was what you did earlier right?!”
Chloe pushed Mateo and confronted him. “YES! Ever since she arrived, everything has been chaotic! Open your damn eyes, Mateo! She’s not your wife anymore! Do you understand?!”
In his anger, Mateo was about to slap Chloe but stopped himself. “Don’t touch her, I’ll kill you!” He pointed at Chloe and quickly left their room, slamming the door shut.
Chloe was sitting weakly on their bed, crying uncontrollably.
“Mom…”
She just hugged her child while still crying.
Meanwhile, Mateo went straight to the club and approached the counter.
“One beer, sir?”
Mateo just nodded at the bartender and wiped his face. When his order arrived, he quickly drank it while watching people dance. And all the women were looking at him.
“Hello, handsome.”
He glanced at the woman who was trying to seduce him, but he ignored her.
“Are you free tonight?”
He ignored her and just drank his ordered drink.
“Hi Mateo,”
He stopped and looked at the person next to him and because he was starting to feel dizzy and was seeing things differently.
“A-Ana?”
The woman grinned and moved closer to Mateo. “Yes, it’s me. Are you free tonight?”
Mateo immediately stood up and nodded.
“I miss you!”
The woman led Mateo to the VIP room and as soon as they entered, Mateo kissed her.
“Oh, damn! I miss you!”
And they kissed again as if there were no tomorrow.
Mateo was eager to be with Ana again, so they quickly undressed each other, their lips never parting. The woman pushed Mateo onto the bed, and he just grinned.
“You’re naughty, huh?”
The woman just grinned and quickly straddled Mateo, which pleased him.
“You’re still gorgeous,” Mateo whispered. The woman then leaned in and whispered in his ear.
“Of course, I am,” she grinned, but Mateo got up to kiss her again, and they exchanged passionate kisses.
Mateo’s kisses moved to the woman's neck, which made her moan.
“Oh, moan my name, wife,” Mateo said with a grin as he nibbled on the woman's neck.
The woman moaned and writhed at what Mateo was doing. “Ohhh, M-Mateo!”
Mateo grinned and kissed the woman again on the bed. But his eyes widened as the woman slowly started to get bruises.
“Ana?”
The woman’s eyes narrowed in anger as she glared at Mateo, who returned his gaze with wide eyes.
“You cheated on me!”
Mateo’s eyes widened, and he pushed the woman away.
“Why did you cheat on me, Mateo? Why?!”
He took a few steps back and didn’t know what to do, while the woman’s eyes still fixed on him.
“I loved you! I loved you my whole life! Why did you cheat on me?!”
Mateo covered his ears as Ana’s voice echoed in his head. “Get away! You’re not Ana!” he shouted, pushing the woman away.
“It’s me, Mateo! The woman you killed! The woman who died because of your greed!”
Mateo shook his head firmly. He didn’t know how, but he could feel Ana’s anger. “You’re not dead!”
The woman’s laughter echoed through the room. “Ana Bernardino is dead, Mateo. She’s dead.”
Mateo just shook his head at her.
“You killed me. You killed me. You killed me.”
Mateo held his head while shaking it. “N-no… N-no…— ANA!”
Mateo suddenly woke up, sweating, and realized that there was no scary Ana in sight. He breathed a sigh of relief, realizing it was just a dream.
As he was about to get up, he noticed that his wrists were tied to the headboard of the bed. He tried to loosen them, but they were tied tightly.
“Mateo.”
Mateo stopped in his tracks when he heard a voice, he looked around, but it was dark.
“It seems like I’m still in your dreams. How sweet,”
Mateo’s eyes widened when he heard the familiar voice.
“A-Ana…?”
He only heard her stand up and the sound of her heels approaching him.
“How’s your life without me, Mateo?”
Mateo was confused and noticed he wasn’t wearing anything.
“Ana?”
He was taken aback when he saw Ana’s face, emotionless, looking at him.
“How’s your life without knowing that I’m still alive?”
Mateo averted his gaze, unable to look Ana in the eyes.
“Do you love me, Mateo?”
Mateo quickly turned to Ana.
“Of course, I love you!”
Ana grinned and approached Mateo. “Yes, you love me, but you cheated on me,” Ana said sadly.
Mateo swallowed hard as he watched Ana slowly undress in front of him. Ana grinned and crawled on top of him.
“You can’t resist my body, huh?”
Mateo swallowed hard again as Ana slowly moved on top of him. Ana also ran her fingers over Mateo’s naked body, clearly getting heated. She also leaned down to face him.
“If you want me, then leave Chloe,” Ana whispered with a smirk. Mateo swallowed hard as Ana kissed his chest.
“I’ll leave her for you. I want you to be mine again.”
Ana paused, but also smiled and lifted her face and touched Mateo’s face.
“Good boy. You’ll be crazy for me as long as you want,” she whispered with a smile and kissed Mateo on the lips, which Mateo eagerly followed. “Oh, before that…” Ana blocked her finger on Mateo’s lips and grinned again.
“Happy Dreamland.”
Ana took out her syringe and quickly injected it into Mateo’s shoulder, catching him off guard.
She grinned and waved at Mateo, who had lost consciousness.
“Tsk, poor boy,” she said, shaking her head.
Someone put a jacket on her shoulder, and she turned to look at the person with a grin.
“Is it okay? He’s crazy as well,” Ana said. The man with her, who had been watching her, gave her a disapproving look.
“Don’t do that again,” he said firmly as he lifted her up.
“Why? Are you jealous, Martin?” she asked.
Martin’s expression darkened even more as he glanced away, realizing that Ana wasn’t wearing the jacket properly.
“I’m not,” he replied.
Ana grinned and playfully poked Martin’s chest, irritating him even more.
“Kidding! You’re too serious!” Ana said with a smirk, then looked at Mateo, who was now fast asleep. “He’s been asleep for 2 days,” she added.
Martin nodded in agreement. “Yeah.”
Ana laughed and hugged Martin. “Seriously, Martin? That was just a little payback for Mateo. I’d rather have him go crazy for me. Am I smart?”
Martin looked at her, and they locked eyes, but Ana suddenly felt uncomfortable under his gaze. But she stopped when she remembered something, and her cheeks suddenly flushed.
“Damn! You saw my body! Sh·t!” Ana shouted, and her cheeks grew even hotter as Martin’s warm touch grazed her skin. “Damn!” she muttered.
They reached the car, but Martin didn’t let her go, and she remained in his embrace.
“Your eyes, Alexis,” Martin said, looking at Alexis in the rearview mirror. Alexis coughed and looked ahead as he drove back to the Hacienda.
She crossed her arm as she was pouting because Martin didn’t look at her again. When they arrived at the Hacienda, Martin didn’t look at her again, he just carried her to her room and carefully laid her on the bed.
Martin stood up to find something for Ana to wear. He couldn’t let her sleep without clothes, especially with the air conditioning.
When Martin found some clothes, he quickly put them on Ana.
“Seriously, Martin?”
Martin looked at Ana. “What?”
She rolled her eyes and glared at him. Martin was puzzled by Ana’s behavior, furrowing his brow. “What? What did I do?” Martin asked, as he sometimes couldn’t understand women.
Ana sighed in frustration and pointed to the door. “Never mind! Go leave! I want to sleep now.” Ana shouted, pulling her blanket and lying down on the bed, turning away from Martin.
Martin was puzzled by Ana’s behavior, he sighed and stood up to go back to his room.
He followed Ana to see what she was planning to do, knowing that Mateo was obsessed with his ex-wife and might harm her.
Just as Martin was about to leave, he stopped because he knew Ana was upset, and he couldn’t sleep. He took a deep breath and clenched his fist before turning back to face Ana, who was still turned away from him.
“Seriously, Ana? What did I do? What’s wrong with you?”
Ana ignored him and kept her eyes closed.
Martin was restless because he couldn’t relax until he knew what Ana’s problem was. They were fine when they arrived at the Club and while they watched Mateo with the girl he picked up at the Club, but now Ana was ignoring him.
Martin stopped when he saw the alcohol on the table that Ana drank every night, so he immediately went to the table and took the alcohol and drank it.
Ana glanced at Martin and smiled, thinking he was leaving her room, but he chose to stay for her. She admitted that she liked Martin, but she limited herself because she had a lot to do.
She didn’t want her relationship to interfere with her work because she wouldn’t be able to focus on her happiness. Furthermore, she took a deep breath and carefully sat up against the headboard while watching Martin drink the alcohol she had set aside.
“Why are you still here?”
Martin stopped and looked at Ana, who was leaning against the headboard.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Ana laughed and ran her hand through her hair. “Oh, nice talking,” Ana sarcastically remarked.
Martin sighed and turned away from Ana, gripping the table tightly.
“Do you have a girlfriend or fiancé?” Ana asked, looking up at Martin, who was looking somewhere.
Martin was taken aback by the question and furrowed his brow as he looked at Ana. “Why are you asking?”
Ana bit her lip and just nodded at Martin. “Oh, nothing, he-he…” Ana scratched her head and smiled. Martin raised an eyebrow at Ana, who was about to lie back on the bed, but he suddenly kissed her.
Ana's eyes widened at what Martin did, and she couldn’t move. She had intended to tease Martin, but she didn’t realize he was serious.
“I-I’m sorry,” Martin whispered after kissing Ana, and they touched foreheads. “Push me, if you don’t want this.” Martin cursed softly and moved away from Ana. “No, I respect you. I’m sorry, forget everything I’ve done.”
Ana opened her eyes and looked at Martin, but her mind went blank, so she held Martin’s face.
“No, I want this,” Ana whispered with a smile.
And they kissed as if they were hungry for each other.
“ANA—”
Paris stopped in her tracks as she entered Ana’s room and found clothes scattered on the floor and two people embracing on the bed.
She sighed and shook her head before slowly entering the room to draw the curtains and let the sunlight in on the two people in bed.
“Hmm…” Ana grumbled as the sunlight hit them.
Paris stood in front of them, “Seriously, Ana? Martin? One-night stand?” she asked sharply.
Ana squinted as the sunlight hit her. “Come on Paris! It’s still early!” Ana said hoarsely. Paris winced as Ana’s voice seemed to fail her.
“It’s noon!” Paris shouted. Ana opened her eyes and looked at Martin, smiling before hugging him again.
Paris grimaced and sighed, “Ugh! I hate this!”
“You’re annoying,”
They both stopped as Martin suddenly spoke. Paris laughed, despite her annoyance. “What? Me? Annoying? Really, huh?” she asked sarcastically, pointing at herself.
Martin just shrugged at his friend and got up, but before he did, he kissed Ana on the forehead before finally getting up from the bed, causing Paris to turn away.
“Seriously, guys? Since when? Jeez.” Paris shivered and rubbed her arms as if she were getting goosebumps from what she witnessed.
Ana just laughed because she never expected Paris to see them lying next to each other in bed.
“Paris,” Martin called out to her, so she turned to the young man.
“Yes? Care to explain? What’s going on here?”
Martin gave his friend a stern look and pointed at her. “Shut your mouth. Don’t tell anyone, or else, I will kick you out.” He patted Paris on the shoulder and then turned to Ana, who was grinning at the two of them.
He approached her to give her a kiss, but Paris coughed, causing them to look at the woman, and Martin just shook his head before finally leaving Ana’s room.
After Martin’s left, they looked at each other, but Ana just shrugged at her and lay back down.
“I need some rest,” Ana said with a smirk to Paris and closed her eyes, but she opened them again when Paris suddenly lay down next to her.
“You!”
“What?”
“B*tch!”
Ana smirked and whispered something to Paris, making her eyes widen.
“Yuck! D-don’t…!”
Ana just laughed and stood up, heading straight to the bathroom to take a shower.
After completing her daily routine, she dressed quickly because she had many things to take care of.
She paused when her phone rang, quickly checking who was calling, but it was just Tyron, so she answered the call while continuing to get ready.
“Any update?” she asked, to which he laughed.
(“No greeting first?”)
She rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue, hearing his laughter.
(“Anyway, the court agreed to reopen the case.”)
Ana stopped and held her phone to talk to Tyron properly.
“You know what to do,” she said, tightening her grip on her phone.
(“Yes, I’ll take care of everything.”)
Ana just smirked and adjusted the curtains in her room.
“Yeah, you need to gain the trust of the Villalobos. You can’t afford to fail, Tyron. The whole plan will be ruined,” she said seriously.
(“I haven’t made a mistake in my job, Ana. Martin will kick me out if I fail. He’s a monster!”)
Ana laughed as she remembered what happened with Martin that night.
“Yeah, I agree. He’s a monster… In bed, maybe?” she said, and heard Tyron choke on something.
“F***k?!”
Ana just laughed and shook her head. “Tyron, I have another task for you. Let’s meet where we first saw each other.”
There was a moment of silence, even Tyron was quiet.
“I have to go. That’s our agreement, Tyron.” She ended the call and looked out her window, overlooking the Monticello lands and its workers.
“Ana?”
Ana blinked and turned to the person calling her.
“Let’s go?”
She just nodded to Paris and followed.
As she descended, there were many people at the Hacienda, doing their tasks.
“I’ve gathered people to organize the event. Any suggestions?”
Ana just stared at the people greeting her.
“I’ve already arranged the invitations and sent them out. I only invited well-known people,” said Paris.
She didn’t hear what Paris was saying anymore as she scanned the surroundings, but she stopped when she saw a large painting.
A painting of a woman who looked like her.
“Should we remove this?”
She shook her head.
“That painting will stay here. And I need the piano.”
Paris furrowed her brow at Ana’s statement.
“The piano? What do you need the piano for? I’ve hired musicians.”
She glanced at Paris, who looked puzzled. “I need it.”
Paris shrugged and just nodded at Ana, who seemed serious.
They continued walking, heading towards the pool area.
“Is there anything else you want to have arranged?”
Ana stopped and grinned as she looked back at Paris. “This is not my party, Paris,” she said.
Paris’ eyes widened and she scratched her head. “Ah, yes, I forgot! Sorry! So, you don’t need anything else arranged?”
Ana just nodded and looked around, but then her phone rang, and she received a text, so she turned to Paris.
“You take care of everything, Paris. I have somewhere to go,” she said with a smile, tapping Paris on the shoulder.
Before she left, a maid hurried over to her.
“Lady Ana! Lady Ana!”
She furrowed her brow but stopped the maid to calm her down. “Is there any problem?” she asked.
The maid nodded and gasped as she pointed outside the mansion.
“Miss Chloe is causing a scene outside!”
She paused, then just grinned. It seemed like Chloe was looking for her husband.
“Okay, go back to work. I’ll take care of her.” She patted the maid on the shoulder, who just nodded, and then she left the mansion.
She squinted to see Chloe causing a scene outside the gate while their guard tried to restrain her.
“Lady Ana, we’ll take care of her,” her staff greeted her.
She just raised her hand and continued walking towards where Chloe was.
“Ana! Bring out my husband!” Chloe shouted when she saw her.
The guards bowed to her.
“Your husband? Why are you looking for your husband in me?” she asked, but Ana just nodded. “Oh, because your husband ran away from you? Oh, come on! We’re not together anymore, so I have no business with him.” she retorted.
“You’re a liar! I know you still have feelings for my husband. You seduced him.”
Ana burst into laughter and shook her head. “Me? Flirting with your husband? Seriously? I’m not interested in your husband anymore,” she grinned. “Gosh, Chloe, are you causing a scene over trivial matters? Aren’t you ashamed?”
Chloe fell silent and looked at the Monticello workers, who were whispering about her.
“Chloe, be careful with your husband, he's straying,” she said with a smirk and winked at Chloe before turning to face Alexis.
“Alexis, we have somewhere to go,” she said. Alexis nodded and helped her walk towards the car.
“What’s going on?”
Ana looked back and just grinned at Martin.
“Nothing. She’s crazy, remember?” She kissed Martin’s cheek, but stopped at his ears. “See you later, monster,” she whispered to Martin before finally getting into the car and instructing Alexis to leave to go where they needed to be.
Ana was opened by the guards, and she opened the window of her car, where she clearly saw Chloe’s anger towards her.
“If you want to see your husband, go to the club, he might be there. Good luck to you, dear~” She grinned and closed the window, passing by Chloe, who was still annoyed.
“Where are we going, Lady Ana?”
She just leaned back and looked out the window.
“To the old hut near the Montes’ Ranch.”
