Chapter 10 Bizarre Request
Days swiftly passed.
But for Asher, it felt like the days were dragging. He wanted Friday to come as soon as possible while Bianca was dreading it coming. It was not because she did not want to be on a date with Asher. It is the feeling of being in the crowd that she is not so comfortable about. Bianca feels suffocated with the facade of fake friendships and silent competitions between popularity and attention. Things she is not very interested in.
It’s funny how she wants to become a fashion designer when she is not interested in the limelight that accompanies it. But her passion for fashion is only for designing the clothes. She believes the other parts would be fulfilled with other people according to their talents, like models, advertisers, tailors, and sellers. She doesn’t like to be in the limelight. To see people wear her designs will suffice. But she knew she could not avoid attending such gatherings. This is where she will get to meet the people who can be part of her world in the present and future.
Asher did not ask Bianca anything about the party. He did not want to pressure her about anything, especially of his presence. He told his secretary to find out everything he needed to know about the upcoming party in Bianca’s company. A detail he simply asked her, the company she works for that night they made the deal about being her date and her being his pretend fiancee in front of his dad.
“Ask about any dress code if there is one. And when you find there is, buy me a suit and a dress for a lady,” Asher ordered.
“I know about your size, sir, but how about the lady’s?” Asked the secretary.
“I am not accurately sure, but….” Asher motioned, his hands cupping the air as if Bianca was in front of him. “C cup.”
“Her waist is….” Asher paused again. He tried to recall what he saw the very first time, in his kitchen, where she was wearing a hanging crop top. “Between 60 to 63 cm and her hips would be in the range of 95 to 98 cm.”
Asher was lost in his wandering thoughts. In his mind, he can almost see Bianca naked. Well, he cannot blame himself. What she was wearing that day was devilishly revealing in his eyes. And with her confidence in what she was wearing, he was enjoying the view. But he realized Bianca ran to her room when she remembered what she was wearing in front of a man.
“She must have been ashamed as to why she ran into her room that day,” Asher chuckled at the thought. He did not understand before what happened to her when she ran into her room so suddenly that made Asher follow her to her room’s door. He just realized when Asher found out she was a virgin. She must have been so scandalized to be wearing almost nothing left to a man’s imagination that she quickly ran into her room, and when Asher tried to make her open the door, he fell on top of her when they got off balance.
“Ugggh!” Asher groaned when he remembered how she kicked him out of her door that day. He shook his head and smiled wider at his thoughts.
“Sir, would that be all?” his secretary woke him up from his silent reminiscence. She did not know when to get the right timing to say anything as his boss looked like he had gone somewhere she could not reach. But looking at how he was smiling, the secretary could clearly tell he went somewhere he would love to be right now.
Had he told his secretary she was going to buy a dress for Bianca, she would have got the instructions more quickly, but as the secretary knew her boss was a casanova in his own way, she did not assume she was about to buy something for the house renter. She didn’t know their arrangement anyways.
“And cancel all my appointments on Friday from after lunch onwards,” Asher did not mind being cut out from his wandering thoughts. He is looking so much forward to being Bianca’s date that he wants to prepare everything well to the best that he can.
“Yes, sir,” the secretary manneredly answered, and with a courteous nod, she went out of Asher’s office to do her tasks. It was only Monday, but she did not want to delay this thing. She can feel she will be in big trouble if she fails to do this right.
Asher’s day went too slow. He wasn’t so busy today. When mid-afternoon came, he was already anxious to go home. He was worried Bianca wouldn’t like his presence, so he was in distress, thinking if he should let her know he was coming home tonight or, just like he did last time, just arrive home without giving her notice. She said he could go home whenever he wanted, but he was still feeling rude if he would do such a thing.
“She must have just said it to be civil,” he reminded himself. “Shall I call her?”
Asher kept staring at his phone on the table. “Call her or don’t? Grrrrh!”
He could not decide until his phone rang. Hoping it was the person he wanted to talk to, he did not even check the caller’s id before he answered and gleefully greeted.
“Hi! I was just about to call you!” he chirped.
“Really?” a manly voice answered from the other line.
Asher moved the phone away from his ear and looked at its screen. He winched, and with the other hand, he knocked his head. Then he pretended to continue with his playfulness.
“Hey, dad! I was just about to call you,” he chuckled.
“Don’t play with me, boy. When did you ever call me before I called you?” the man on the other line complained. “I will send the details to your secretary, don’t disappoint me again, do you understand?”
Asher knew what his dad meant by what he just said. He is supposed to meet another girl on a blind date of his arrangement.
“Ahhh, I was about to call you about that, actually,” Asher’s brain circuits suddenly lighted up like a bulb.
“Huh, you were calling to tell me you have someone to introduce to me,” his dad, Ray Collins, snorted. He had heard the same lines from Asher, but his son had not brought anyone to introduce to his dad until now.
“You are actually right about that,” Asher laughed heartily. He can feel his dad is fed up with him saying the same line, and while he just used it to give him an excuse, this time, it was different, but his dad doesn’t seem to believe it.
“I am getting, and that means, you are also getting, my boy,” Ray Collins spoke with a sound of warning.
“I promise this time. I am telling you the truth. I have someone to introduce to you. Make your Sunday available. We are going over your place,” Asher nonchalantly stated.
“I am busy on Sunday, I need to attend a wedding for a friend’s son, and hopefully, my dear son will be next!” The father was getting even more agitated. His friends’ children are getting married one by one. He had been invited to a lot of weddings over the years, and his son is already twenty-seven, but not even a decent girlfriend had been introduced to him. He can feel his wife is disappointed in him as he cannot make his son settle down like other people’s sons.
“Whose wedding? Do I know anyone from the bride and the groom?” Asked Asher. He had not been given invitations, or maybe he did not check the contents of the invitation as he isn’t interested in attending such events.
“Well, you may not remember him, the groom to be. His father and I have been in business before, but we bumped into each other at the golf course a few months ago, and he invited me to attend his son’s wedding,” explained Ray. He is an extroverted person, so he has a lot of acquaintances from different walks of life.
“Do you think we can tag along?” Asher asked with excitement.
The dad was taken aback at his son’s request. He is well aware that Asher doesn’t like such events. He stared at his phone for a while and checked if he was really talking to His son, Asher. He frowned when he realized he was. In his bewilderment, he blurted out the question that was on the tip of his tongue.
