Chapter 13
Liliana's point of view
I yawned as I stretched my hand, sitting on my bed. I rubbed my eyes with my palm as I tried to keep my eyes open.
New day, and weekend. I got off my bed as I made an attempt to open my window, I remembered who my neighbor was; Ricardo.
The guy who I thought to be my friend but who disgraced me most. I frowned when I recalled last night's scene.
"Hmph!" I walked away instead. I opened the door to my room as I made my way downstairs.
I suddenly started kissing Juliana. If only she was beer, food would be ready and I'd get to feel a livelihood.
I walked into the kitchen to see Dennis eating. "Good morning," he greeted.
"Good morning," I replied. I walked over to the refrigerator to get something to eat.
"Oh no!" There's no more milk. I heaved a sigh.
"You look like a mess. Where did you get back last night?" Dennis asked.
I slammed my head lightly on the refrigerator, "Don't make me remember because I don't remember," I said and my stomach grumbled.
I looked around the house, this was what our life was like. We were not like any ordinary family with our both parents around.
I just wanted the day to move faster so Monday could come as soon as possible. I felt empty within me. I miss you Juliana.
I was dressed in a black skirt with slits at the back and blue long sleeve shirt. I wore black sneakers to match, using my hair tie to cover my hair.
Keep the Sabbath day holy, today is already Sunday and here I am getting ready to go to church.
As I stood in front of the mirror, I recalled things that happened two nights ago at Blondie's house and how I made my way home.
Well, after things started heating up. Richard did body shots on a random girl, Barbie-caked-face was giving a random dude a lap dance, and Ric kept insulting me.
"You wouldn't want a prude giving you a lap dance, it's a huge turn off, you know," he warned one of the guys.
"How do you know I don't know how to give a lap dance?" I retorted slightly pissed off.
"Have you ever touched a dick? Or even seen a dick before?" He questioned with a smirk.
They didn't even give me a chance—again—and actually said I should watch and learn. I glared at him in annoyance but that just earned me a smirk.
Come to think of it, the Liliana on Friday night wasn't the normal typical Liliana who had big dreams and not the dream of just anyone. I was starting to think just like most of the teenagers around the world.
"Guess who's back!" I heard a familiar voice I've been craving for days now. Juliana was back!
"Juliana Elizabeth Lim!" I screamed. Her noisy attitude started to rub on me.
"Liliana Rose Lim!" She screamed. That's more like it, she must scream my name.
Since Juliana graduated from the university, she decided to rent an apartment for herself and be independent. She visits us from time to time but she's mostly occupied by her work.
"It's Sunday Dennis! You are supposed to be prepared for church!" Juliana scolded Dennis. I watched her expression while I walked down the stairs.
"Going to church doesn't mean I'd go to heaven!" Dennis retorted and Juliana's jaw dropped.
"That is the word of the devil Dennis! When did you start going against church!" Juliana exclaimed
.
"Argh!" Dennis groaned. "That's not going against church, it's saying I don't feel like going today," he replied calmly.
"You are going to church and that's a must!" Juliana deadpanned.
"Fine mother!" He replied aggravating Juliana.
"I..I didn't mean to sound..." He cuts her off by walking out of her presence. Maybe she was too harsh, she mustn't impose rules on him.
When I came back from church, I quickly changed into a comfortable outfit. I put on an armless jumpsuit that stopped mid-thigh and settled down in my bed.
"Hey, Vixen," a familiar voice called and I turned to look.
It was Ricardo the jerk, shirtless, wearing sweatpants with his Calvin Klein boxer band showing.
I had no choice but to open my window, I needed it considering I needed natural hair.
I ignored him, that's what I've been doing since Friday night. He couldn't just humiliate me in front of people only to come over and act like a friend.
"You're still mad?" He questioned.
Does he really have to ask? "Tsk tsk tsk!" I clicked my tongue.
I dismissed him once more, I was really good at silent treatment. While pretending to be reading a book, Ricardo flew over from his room into mine.
"Wanna go out?" He asked with his million-dollar-smile that pissed me off. What gave him the right to ask me such.
I ignored him again, getting up from my bed, looking straight into his eyes with my arms folded across my chest.
I raised my brows asking what he wanted and visually expressing that I wanted him out of my room.
"You know, you should thank me," he said and I scoffed.
"You wouldn't want to do anything you'd regret the next day, would you?" He asked.
"Well, I don't think I needed any of your help. From the look of it, I wasn't in any trouble." I spat out.
"That's one thing about life Liliana, you think that by trying to be rebellious, you’re the boss. But in your case, you wanted to fit in!" He said through gritted teeth. "Have you heard the saying, 'Do not try to fit in when you are born to stand out? I guess you have."
"How would you feel if I did that body shot on you? You would start avoiding me. And I don't know how much alcohol you drank Friday night, but it was probably too much to make good decisions anyway," He spoke.
"But you’d sure do it with other girls!" I yelled.
"You said your name isn’t other girls! Besides, they’re not innocent Lily, you should be grateful you’re not like them," He retorted.
"I'm telling you this because if you had done what you wanted on Friday night, boys would consider you another school slut and harass you. I'm sure you didn't think of that, did you?" He asked.
I realized that everything he was saying was true. I never really thought about anything, I was surely not on my right mind that night.
I never knew Ric cared so much about my reputation.
"Thank you," I whispered with my head down.
"It's fine, that's what good friends do right?”
“So you wanna take a stroll, like a long ride? I'm bored."
"If you put on a shirt first,"
He smirked, "I'm beginning to think you have a crush on me, Lily." He asked with a teasing brows
I scoffed,"Oh, you wish. Liking you is just asking for a heartbreak," I restored with a lopsided grin.
"You sure think the worst of me, Vixen," he feigned hurt. "You’re lucky I consider you a friend." The name vixen was being called too much and I wasn't liking it.
"Aww… the poor little player got his heart broken." I cooed.
"Come on, put on a shirt, I’m gonna die of boredom here."
He walked out of my room back into his.
"Meet me downstairs in five minutes, Vixen!" He called out.
"Sure," I replied.
I closed my window, walked out of my room and out of the house.
I waited a bit before Ric came out in white chino trousers, a white short-sleeve shirt, and a white canvas. He looked so fine, with his tinted eyeglasses on.
Fact is, Ricardo is really handsome and no matter how much I denied it on the outside, there was no denying on the inside.
"Are you ready for a long ride?" He asked.
"Let's hit the road," I replied with excitement.
