Chapter 16
“Timber. I believe, this is why you were traded from your last pack. I am now coming to believe that Alpha Marcus was having a rogue problem that he could no longer control because they were looking for you.”
As Timber was taking in all this new information, she just looked at the ground and shook her head from side to side in disbelief. Johnathon tried to console her and tell her everything was going to be alright but she herself did not believe this fully. She looked dumbfounded at the whole thing and was terrified at what it will mean for her future. Their future.
Timber then started wondering if this was why her old pack was so mean to her. Did they blame her for the rogue problems they had? She did remember the men always having to go off and fight frequently, but it wasn’t like anyone would talk to her. They just gave her dirty looks, pushed into her as they walked past and made snide remarks in and out of her presence. So. Did they really sacrifice her for the safety of the pack?
She was just starting to see the clear picture. The only thing that did not make sense was why her first mate rejected her. Alpha Marcus knew about her, and the Beta she was sure of it. Especially when he told her ‘good riddance’ before driving off leaving her on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere waiting for someone to pick her up.
He was probably hoping I would get killed out there so no other pack would have to be subjected to the attacks too. Then maybe they kept it a secret from the rest of the pack and her mate did not actually know. Why else would he have rejected her if there was a chance for him to gain this gift from just mating and marking her.
Only a select few had to of known, and apparently, he was not one of them. It was the only thing that made sense now. And maybe, they were afraid if the unmated male pack members knew about her that they would try to overthrow him as Alpha leader?
Or. Just maybe. Alpha Marcus did not fully know what powers lied within his territory.
Johnathon started talking again which brought her attention back to listening to him and out of her own thoughts. “As you know I had to go to the Northern border because of another rogue attack.” She nodded giving me the signal she was still listening and to continue.
“Well, we were fighting them off like normal… and winning. Like normal. When suddenly I felt from the mark you gave me, a tingling sensation and it felt like a surge of electricity moving throughout my body.” After listening to her story, it is now I think that when she first felt the same tingling in her birthmark, I was feeling mine.
“You had mind linked me that you needed to talk in the middle of me killing that rogue. Against a tree.” Johnathon now rubbed his hands over his face then slicking them backwards into his hair as Timber sat there watching. Listening. Contemplating what she was hearing, feeling, and remembering what happened with her in the garden with Magda. It was nowhere as gruesome, but nonetheless it was an uprising of power that encompassed her.
“I suddenly felt stronger and faster as I broke a wolf in half just by throwing him into a tree. My reflexes were quicker. My strength was stronger. Intensified by a hundred. I moved faster.”
“Then just as quickly as it came it disappeared … and Andrew and the others just stood there and stared at me in disbelief of what they just witnessed.” I stared at her for a moment watching her facial expressions then continued “When you mind-linked me for help it came back. My only thought was of needing to be where you were, and I was. I don’t even remember running.”
Timber walked over to Johnathon and hugged him tightly. She looked up and he leaned down as they began to kiss again. This time with heated passion. She gave him access into her mouth without hesitation and with that he graciously accepted as he delved in with a passion and hardness that made her gasp briefly with excitement. Timber turned to jelly in Johnathon’s strong arms. He picked her up bridal style before she could fall to the floor, carrying her upstairs to their bedroom.
