Epilogue
I was taking a run in my wolf form on our territory heading towards the lake that brings me refuge and makes me feel like I have been wrapped in a blanket of peace and love. It was the only place Johnathon, and I could be true ourselves in the open.
I jumped in the water splashing around a bit chasing the fish away making waves in its stillness. After enjoying the cool liquid comfort on my fur, I walked out shaking myself dry in the sun’s bright and welcoming rays. Thinking of nothing but the beautifulness of the afternoon I laid down on the fresh green grass and inhaled its crisp aroma, closing my eyes.
As soon as my eyes shut, I could feel a difference in the air. It suddenly felt dark and looming. I opened my eyes in shock as my body immediately went into a fight stance. I could feel my breath starting to speed up as ears perked up and did the fur on my back.
What is going on here? This shouldn’t be? I thought to myself.
‘Johnathon? Can you hear me? Something is terribly wrong… is everything ok at the house? I mind linked him. But nothing came back. Johnathan? Come on Love why don’t you answer me?!’ I started to panic as I could not reach him at all.
As the sky turned black, the winds suddenly picked up their speed and whistled in the air. The once calm lake turned into a pool of rippling and gurgling waters. All alone I looked around cautiously and on high alert while trying to determine the cause of such imminent change in the weather.
Finding none I felt as though my body was on fire as my body heated beyond its limits. I could feel my eyes burn with blue energy forcing itself from them as my body suddenly transformed back into my human self.
My hands now had blue flames radiating from them. I could feel my hair blowing in its force as it prepared itself to attack someone…. or…. something. I no longer felt in control of myself as I lifted off the ground and floated slightly above it.
I heard a howling sound come from the woods next to me. I turned towards it… more like floated in that direction and saw it.
Rather yet I saw… her! I don’t know who she was, but she looked identical to me. She had a power like mine as well except her energy was red. Blood Red! Concern and fear started to consume me for my pack, territory, and family’s safety.
'Who is she?’ Karin my wolf asked but I could not answer due to shock.
“I am Shamira.” I heard her say from the distance as though she was standing next to me. “The real question to be asked is… Who are you? And why do you have one of the powers of the Elders and Royals?” she asked back as if she could hear my wolf speak to me.
“I am Timber. Luna of the Graves pack in this terrain. And, I do not know why I have this power, but I was born with it.” I said back. “and what do you mean by one of the powers?” she did not respond.
Staring at me, she turned her head from side to side slowly as though she was trying to figure me out. Then, out of nowhere her eyes grew wide as her face changed within seconds.
First, confusion. Then, realization and finally anger as her eyes widened with a fierceness. She reached out her arms then brought them full force forward and rapidly as she clasped her hands together releasing her red power towards me like a tidal wave.
My eyes also widened at the realization she was attacking me. As I held my hands up in front of me to block her red energy and the two energies collided with each other causing the loudest boom I had ever heard knocking me down.
As soon as the power hit each other I was thrown back into a nearing tree falling to the ground hard and without remorse. Shaking off the sudden fall and hit, I looked up to see she also had felt the same consequence of our power energies merging together.
This one act. This one effect of the collision created a great hate in Shamira as her face contorted into pure anger and loathing. Even from the distance we were from each other I could see her eyes shining a crimson red like fire.
Observing the rest of my surroundings, I noticed everything was demolished. The lake was almost completely drained from its habitants as I could only see mud left from where the water and creatures had once habited.
Once again, I tried to reach out to Johnathon. And once again I could not. I was starting to grow with great concern of what has happened to my pack and my beloved.
Never taking her eyes of me, she brushed herself off as she stood. Her eyes never leaving mine still as she glared at me with those crimson red eyes before speaking.
“I do not know who you are… Timber, but you have not seen the last of me. I will return, mark my words and you will not like it when I do.” she seethed hatred through her venomous words as she smiled vilely at me.
Just as I was about to say something, she looked up to the sky arms raised and a cloud of red smoke was all that was left of her in the place where she once stood.
In shock of what just happened, my heart pounded as my mind twirled with confusion and great concern for what was coming.
I sat up in my bed with urgency, sweating from head to toe. I turned to look at Johnathon who was startled awake by my sudden and jerky movement. “What is it Timber? What did you see?”
The End.
