Chapter 50
Chapter 50
“Alpha Johnathon. Luna.” Elder Petroff spoke as he approached them from behind giving a curt nod. They returned the gesture as he continued speaking.
“Although these deaths were tragic, their bravery and commitment will forever be recognized in the Fae Kingdom. Your men helped our community in ways we cannot express gratitude for. For that, we as a kingdom would like to offer you and your pack an eternal alliance.” Edler Petroff said as he reached his hand out to Alpha Johnathon turning it over palm side up. In his other hand, he had a small dagger to solidify a blood contract.
Alpha Johnathon looked down at both of his hands, then back up at him giving a small smile before abruptly taking the dagger from his hand making a long laceration on his own. Giving the dagger back to Elder Petroff, he followed suit after providing a smile and a single nod. Blood dripped slightly from the newly made marks left on their hands as they collided as one, shaking completing the alliance bond.
Being of simple lives and traditions, supernaturals did not need to write their allegiances on paper. All they needed was their word and a blood handshake. As long as those who completed the blood contract were alive, it could never be broken. Anyone belonging to those leaders that dared deny the contract and break it received consequences punishable by death.
“It was my honor to have you and your people fighting alongside us.” Alpha Johnathon said as they withdrew their hands from the other.
A spark filtered through each hand up their arms as the contract came together. Alpha Johnathon’s mark had already healed itself, while Elder Petroff said a little chant making his own wound close before their very eyes. The only thing left to show a binding contract had been created, was a scar resembling the other species in the center of their hands.
“Now that that is done, how are you enjoying the ceremonial party? Find anyone lucky enough to be yours for the night?” He asked the Elder as he patted his back, smirking, while his other hand waved over the crowd before them.
“No. Not yet. However there was a feisty red head that caught my inner beast's attention somewhere over in that direction.” he replied back motioning towards the left of where they were standing. Giving a small nod he smiled and with what looked like a twinkle of mischief in his eyes, he disappeared into the unknowing crowd searching for his unsuspecting redhead.
“I think Elder Petroff is an exceptionally kinky sort.” Timber said, wrapping her arms around Alpha Johnathon’s waist looking up at him longingly.
“When aren’t the Fae exceptionally kinky?” He said looking down at her.
“I’ll show you… exceptionally kinky.” he smirked looking into her eyes seductively as he leaned down kissing her passionately. Deepening the kiss he pulled her closer to his body by the hips, pushing her firm against his ever growing erection. Earning himself the sound of a moan of delight to escape her lips.
A clearing of someone’s throat caused them to separate and look to their left as they had an onlooker. Still holding her close to his body, he let out a low growl in warning to whoever it was interrupting his moment with his mate.
“My deepest apologies Alpha. Luna.” pleaded the young woman standing in front of them with caution written on her face. Staring at her intently it was concluded that she wasn’t a Fae nor a Vampire, but a dragon shifter.
“I have a message for you from Elder Rani.” she continued before pausing for permission to continue speaking after what she perceived to have been a private moment she interrupted. The nod given from Alpha Johnathon told her she could proceed… in which she did.
“Elder Rani left her regards and deepest sympathy for your pack’s loss. She also said to tell you both..” taking a glance over to Luna Timber, “that as long as she is Elder over the Dragon Shifters you will always have our people as an ally. She regrets that important matters had taken her away earlier than she could have expected, but. We are at your service if the time arises. She also said she will either send someone to retrieve you and your Luna, or will return to complete a blood contract with you to show her alliance intentions.”
The messenger spoke with great respect and poise as she stood in front of them with her hands folded neatly in front of her. Her eyes never left their eyes as she looked between them when she spoke.
“Please tell Elder Rani we understand and look forward to proceeding with the blood contract for alliances when she is available. Also, we hope her urgent matter gets resolved quickly. If she finds that she needs our help before the contract can be placed, have her to please let us know and we will do what we can to assist.” Alpha Johnathon said, before reaching out to shake her hand giving her a little nod before she retreated herself from their presence.
They looked out over the crowd watching everyone dancing, drinking and eating merrily. A smile etched across Timber’s face as supernaturals from different species mingled and had a great time together. This. This is what it should be. Everyone harmonizing and working together for the good of all supernaturals. Not just their own.
Turning his head, Alpha Johnathon looked at Timber and smiled. “What are you think about my love?”
“Nothing really. Just how incredible it is to have multiple supernaturals here. Together harmoniously.” gesturing to the variety of people in front of her, smiling as she said it, her eyes met his and he could see a spark of love in them. Not just for him and their pack family, but for all supernaturals.
“Hey! Why aren’t you two out there dancing and having a great time? You don’t have the boys lurking do you?” Andrew’s words broke the silent moment causing them to focus on him and Layana who was by his side. A chuckle left Alpha Johnathon’s throat at his comment.
“No, we don't have the boys lurking around. Magda took them for the night.” emphasizing the word lurking for effect.
Looking between the two of them he smiled as he took in their stance and appearance.
“You too look like you’ve gotten a little… cozy.” Alpha Johnathon said, wiggling his eyebrows at his Beta, Andrew. A small blush moved slowly across Layana’s face as she hugged Andrew’s arm a little closer. No one missed the girlish smile that was plastered all over her face.
They did not look as though they had actually been up to no good. But… what was noticed was the mating mark on Layana’s and Andrew’s necks, and their hands intertwined together as they stood in front of them.
“Looks like acceptance has taken place.” Timber joked as she pointed between them.
“Yeah, after I got over the whole werewolf mate brainwashing thing… Everything's been good. Really good!” Layana chirped to the comment.
“Are you going to stay here now? Or what’s the plan? Andrew’s the Beta here and he is needed.” Alpha Johnathon spoke up questionably. He didn’t want to keep mates apart but Andrew was his Beta and long time best friend. There was no one else besides himself that he would trust with his or his family's life.
If he needed to replace him so he could be with Layana he would, but it would be very hard to replace someone like Andrew. Layana, was the Head Mistress of the witch covens and she had to lead them. So her leaving them was also known to not be a permanent answer.
“Well. We have been talking about that actually.” Andrew stated as he looked down to her lovingly. “This is my pack, my family. I’m the Beta, and she knows I take that job seriously.” He continued.
“And I have many covens to maintain and a home there. But… I am a wolf too. A hybrid. My wolf needs a pack. Longs for it really.” Layana chimed in too.
‘Yes I do! I need to be with other wolves.’ Mayra agreed hastily, earning an eye roll.
“So? What did you two decide… if you decided?” Timber questioned impatiently.
“We’ve decided that Layana will live here with me. Us, in the pack house, if it was alright with you Alpha?” Andrew stated, but more question like on the latter.
“You do not want your own cottage?” Alpha Johnathon questioned back, lifting an eyebrow.
“We thought about that too. Since Layana will be sleeping at the pack house and being there with me most of the time, there will still be many incidents where she will have to be with the covens, leaving at a moment's notice.” Andrew started to explain, holding onto Layana’s hand bringing it up to his mouth placing gentle kisses on the back of it.
“We thought it would be safer for me to stay with him here at the pack house. That way my wolf, Mayra, can be part of a pack, if you allow Alpha Johnathon, I can transport myself back and forth as needed to the covens. This way I am with them and Mayra can train to be a stronger wolf.” Layana explained her own thinking behind their decision.
“Andrew can continue being your Beta, protecting the pack and doing his pack duties, while I learn pack life and take care of my covens. A win-win for everyone.” She finished as she smiled looking up at Andrew again, and then back at Alpha Johnathon who stood in front of them with arms crossed and an indifferent look.
“That is… if it is a-alright with you. Of course.” She stammered seeing an unknown expression on his face.
Her brow furrowed at how callous he looked. Maybe I made the wrong choice. She thought to herself. Looking up at Andrew for direction, getting an encouraging look back while he squeezed her hand for support. He knew his Alpha better than anyone, and he knew his Alpha was just trying to intimidate her.
“You can stay here. You will need to declare me as your Alpha and Timber as your Luna to the pack in a ceremony so your wolf will be recognized by them for protection if needed.” Alpha Johnathon finally said after staring her down for a moment or two. He could see the sweat start to form on her brow and figured he wouldn’t taunt her any longer.
Letting out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Layana sighed audibly in relief. A smile moved across her face as she looked back up at Andrew receiving a chaste kiss.
“Now that that is settled. Can we pleeeaase go back to having a good time now?” Timber asked jokingly. Laughter spilled out from everyone around her as murmurs of ‘yes’ and ‘yeah, please’ were heard in whispers as they joined the departure party. Their lives going back to a seemingly normal one creating a sense of calm and relief to move throughout the supernatural community like it hasn’t felt in a very long time.
