Chapter 37
“WHY don’t you just tell me the names of those people that supplied you cocaine and ecsFredy?” Euclid asked Armand Santos a.k.a Boss Doppy as soon as he walked inside the interrogation room. “I will help you get out of here if you will speak that mouth of yours.”
But the fat man just smirked. He gave him a scrutinizing glare. “How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t anything about those drugs—”
“Bullshit,” Euclid cursed. “What makes you think that I will believe in that absurdity? The drugs were found in your office, wrapped with your t-shirt, and full of your fingerprints. Evidence doesn’t lie—”
“Bu can be altered,” he said and laughed. “Even the police can do that. You framed me up.”
Now it was Euclid’s turn to laugh. “We have a witness against you—”
“Who? The bitch Maria?” the man laughed. “Behind that pretty angelic face lies an angelic sin.”
Euclid clenched his fist on the table. He stared at the man on the other side of the table. He was also looking at him, but Euclid felt mocking in his eyes.
“Do you know why I chose Maria to be the club’s star dancer?” Poppy asked. When he didn’t answer he continued. “It’s because Maria knew how to manipulate people, make them fall crazily for her until they couldn’t resist her charm and spend all their money just to get a touch of her.”
“That is not what I wanted to hear,” he said between his teeth. Euclid knew that this man was trying to piss him. And, he won’t allow him.
“Really?” he asked mockingly. “Then why your eyes are telling me otherwise?” He leaned on his chair. “I remember Maria’s first night at the club, she was so innocent and pure. Many wealthy men wanted to take her out but I won’t allow them, do you know why?” He held his stare. “Because she was scheduled to be my room guest on that day. All newbies are required to visit my haven before she sells herself to other men,” Doppy shut his eyes and cocked his head to the ceiling. “I can still feel the softness of her breasts in my palm. Her rosy scent still lingers in me…” He opened his eyes and looked at Euclid. “I can still remember how she screamed so loud when I entered her tightness. Maria was really an angel even in bed—”
Euclid grabbed the edge of the table and threw it to the Doppy. He fell from his chair and stumbled on his cuffed hands. The shock was apparent in his face, but it quickly vanished when he started to laugh.
“Don’t you want to hear my story of how fresh and good Maria was on her first night at the club?” he asked in between laughs. “But, I was deceived by that angel without wings. She knew what she was doing from the beginning, and I found it out on the night that you cops, raid my club.”
Euclid’s brows furrowed. He went to the man and dragged him the collar. “What do you mean, idiot?”
“Don’t call me the name that could suit you soon,” he told him. “You better watch for her moves. You don’t know when she will atFredk behind your back—”
“That is not what I wanted you to tell me!” he shouted and threw him on the floor.
“Euclid calm down, dude,” he heard Fred’s voice from the speaker. “Let him tell us a story.”
“Right,” Doppy agreed. “How am I going to tell you all the things that I know if you keep on interrupting me with your raging emotions?”
He clenched his jaw. “You’re just wasting my time—”
“Probably,” he said. “Because maybe while you talked to me, Demi has found a way to communicate with Maria.” He shook his head. “Those two bitches is a pain in the ass. They’re the big times’ favorite.”
“Who is this big time?” Euclid asked. He knew that Maria is involved with the illegal activity, what he needs to know is who are they.
“You’re with Maria, right? Why don’t you ask her?” he said and smirked. “All the answers to the questions that you asked me is in her. I told you, I was deceived by her. She was used by the club to be their market for users. She used her innocence to cover her real personality, to cover her sins.”
“You’re putting the blame on her—”
Boss Doppy laughed. “You’re now manipulated, boss. Your eyes are now blinded by her sinful hands.”
*
Euclid walked out of the interrogation room and went directly to the prison cell. He caught Maria talking with a woman, he remembered what Doppy told him a while ago about her and Demi.
Euclid walked faster and grabbed the woman’s hand. “Who are you and why are you talking to her?”
Maria grabbed his arm. “Euclid, she’s Wendy…”
The woman looked at him and he confirmed that it was indeed Wendy, Maria’s friend. He let go of the woman’s hand. “`Sorry… Maria wasn’t allowed to accept visitors until her lawyer hasn’t arrived.”
Wendy rubbed her arm that he gripped tightly. “I brought her food,” she said. “Connor told me that you’re not feeding her.”
Euclid didn’t answer. He looked at his watch and was surprised to see that it was already time for lunch. He wasn’t aware that he wasted almost two hours inside the interrogation room with Boss Doppy. “I wasn’t looking at the time—”
“Whatever,” Wendy cut off and gave him a paper bag with pack lunches inside. “I thought Connor brought a lawyer here/”
Euclid peeked inside the paper bag. When Wendy noticed him, he said, “What are these? I’m allergic to—”
“Shrimps,” Maria finished his words. “You can stop worrying, we can’t afford shrimps.”
“We eat shrimps on special occasions only,” Wendy added. “Where’s your partner that looked like Charmander?”
Euclid knotted his forehead. “Charmander?”
Maria laughed. “Wendy, Agent Fred is a good person, you shouldn’t be calling him in names.”
“You’re referring to Agent Fred when you said Charmander?” he asked, a bit confused.
“Yeah, don’t you know who’s Charmander? He’s a poke monster! What kind of childhood do you have?”
Euclid paused. He glanced at Maria who was laughing at her friend’s jokes. “My childhood is… full of freedom and happiness with the girl that I loved.”
Wendy and Maria both looked at her. But, Maria was the first to look away. He doesn’t understand, but he felt his heart jumped when he saw Maria blushed and shyly looked away from him.
“What the f? Your childhood is a mess,” Wendy commented. “So, what time will you release my friend?”
Euclid glanced at his watch again. “When the lawyer arrived—”
“Mr. Mercado.” A young man in crisp brown suit approached him. “I’m Atty. Angelo Olivar, the lawyer that you requested to hold Miss Daza’ case.”
Euclid shook hands with the lawyer. He didn’t expect that the office will send him a younger attorney. He thought they’ll give him again the legendary Old Atty. Simpson.
The attorney looked at Maria and her friend. His brows slightly furrowed when he looked back at him. “May I speak with for a moment, Mr. Mercado?”
