Chapter 60
Euclid drove his car with a smile on his face. He still can taste in his lips how sweet Maria’s lips were. He can still feel in his hands how soft her curves were and how she responded with moans as he touched her skin. With Maria and Sara, Euclid could not ask for more.
As soon as he finished this mission and everything was okay, Euclid will ask Maria to marry him and start a new life. He knew that this is what she also wanted, to pursue their dreams of being together and having a family. He’s also expecting that Maria will soon reveal to him that Sara was his child, that the first night they shared together bloomed.
Euclid smiled as the pleasant warmth on his chest started to spread again. He can’t wait for that moment. He stopped when the streetlights turned red. He was about to advise Fred that he was on his way to the office when his phone rang and saw his partner’s name flashed on the screen.
“I’m on my way,” he chirped as soon as he answered the phone. “Just a few more minutes and I’ll be there—”
“Euclid, you got to go back to Maria’s house,” Fred cut off.
“Why? I’m halfway to the office,” he said in a knotted forehead. Puzzled by his partner’s sudden haste of sending him back to Maria’s house. “Is there a problem?”
“Yes, a big problem,” he replied gravely. “Drive back now.”
“Why?” His eyes focused on the streetlights, waiting for it to turn green. “Did Maria do something wrong again?”
“Dude, your girlfriend found out about the hidden camera,” Fred said. “And, we saw on the monitors that she got new visitors.”
“Visitors? It must be the doctor. He was scheduled to see Sara today—”
“The doctor came with two people, dressed like nurses, one male, and one female,” Fred cut off again. “And, the woman was confirmed to be Demi.”
“Demi?” Euclid cursed under his breath. “How did she get in the house?”
“She was with Dr. Dela Torre,” Fred replied. “Dude, you gotta hurry, based on Maria’s shocked expression, it looks like she wasn’t expecting to see the two with the doctor.”
*
“WHAT are you doing here?” Maria asked as soon as Demi locked the door behind her. “H-How did you get here?”
Demi laughed. “Isn’t it obvious? Dr. Dela Torre brought us here.”
Maria looked at Connor, who was avoiding her eyes. Her chest started to hammer as she over-thinks everything. “Connor… a-are you with them?”
Connor met her gaze. “Maria…” He stepped closer. “They just got in my car and point the gun at me.”
“What?” She glared at the other man who was just watching them with a scowl. “I thought we have talked about it, Marcus?”
“Talked about what?” he asked, then pushed the doctor towards her. “It’s not my fault that this cheesy doctor of yours is weak.” He laughed. “And, he’s not even careful. That’s why Demi managed to stalk his whereabouts and plans.”
“D’you think I’ll just let you get away with that you did, Maria?” Demi walked towards her. “You bitch—”
“Don’t you dare to lay your hands at her,” Connor warned Demi while holding her hand. He pulled her away and stand in front of Maria. “What the two of you want from her?”
Marcus laughed at Connor. “Hey, doctor. Don’t try to be a hero here,” he said and aimed his gunpoint at him. “You’re the one that helped us get here, remember?”
“Stop this, Marcus,” Maria said in a low voice. She can’t let them make a noise and woke up Sara. “Please… let’s talk about it.”
“I just want you to give me the micro SD card, Maria,” he said and lowered his gun. “After that, we’ll live and let you flirt again with the NBI.”
“We can’t just let her like that, Marcus,” Demi countered. “She’ll roll against us. I’m sure she will expose us soon to the police.”
“I won’t do that…” Maria said. “Marcus, you know that I can’t do that to you—”
“Shut up!” Demi shouted and aimed her gun at her. “You’re a liar, Maria. You can’t fool me. I know that you’re having a relationship with one of the agent. You even gave him the documents that have the details about Chief Alvarez’s transactions with the Decagon,” she said and looked at Marcus. “And, guess what I found out about Maria’s daughter—”
“Stop it, Demi!” Maria pulled Connor’s arm away. “Connor, can you please go to the room and check on Sara—”
“No ones gonna move,” Marcus said and raised his gun again. “Where’s Sara?”
“Marcus, please…” Tears started to fall on her cheeks. “Leave her away from this.”
“Why? Because you will tell that NBI agent soon that she was Sara’s father?” Demi smirked.
Connor looked at her. Shocked was apparent in his face. “Is it true, Maria?”
“It’s the truth, doctor,” Demi said. “Amazing, right? But sad for you, it just meant that you lose in this game. Maria and her ex-boyfriend will be getting back together and you’ll be left alone.”
“Shut the fuck up, Demi—”
“You shut up! Do you think Sara’s father will accept you after all the things that you done just for money?”
“I did it because of my daughter!” she said. “You know what Demi? I regret that I trusted you before. It’s your fault why I forced myself to work at the club—”
“Stop this drama!” Marcus shouted at them. “Maria, give me the SD card now!”
“Mommy?”
All of them looked at the doorway of the room. Sara stepped out of the room, rubbing her eyes and yawning like a sleepy angel. Maria quickly ran towards her daughter, but Demi was fast. She pulled her hand to stop her.
“Not so fast, Maria—”
“Let me go!” She tried to sweep her away, but she grasped tightly on her arm. “Connor, get Sara!
Connor ran towards Sara and carried her. He was about to go inside the room when Marcus shouted at him and threatened that he’ll shoot them if he moved even a bit.
“I won’t hesitate to shoot you, doc,” he said and pointed at the couch. “Have a seat, before I lose my patience.”
“Marcus, please, let them go,” Maria begged as tears streamed down her cheeks. “I’m the only one that you need, not my daughter. Please let them go.”
“You won’t talk if your daughter is not at stake,” Marcus said casually. “Remember the first time that I asked you to do something for me? You refused blatantly. But, when I mentioned about Sara, and what I can do to her, you complied as fast as the speed of light.”
“Please…” Maria bent on her knees. “Please, let her go.”
“Just give us what we need, Maria,” Marcus repeated and walked towards her. He grabbed her face and forced her to look at him. “I need the SD card that Anne gave you before she flew to Cebu.”
“Don’t hurt my mommy!” Sara shouted and tried to break free from Connor. “Let my mommy go!”
Marcus looked at her daughter. “Such a brave kid—”
“Please, don’t hurt her, please…” Maria begged.
But, Marcus did not listen. He raised his gun and aimed it Sara. “Talk or Sara will be dead?”
“No! Please!” Maria pulled her hands from Demi, but instead of letting her go, she hit her face with the gun, making her fall limp on the floor. She heard Connor shout her name, but Marcus stopped him. “Please…” she cried. “Don’t do this…”
“Tell me where the SD card is?!” Marcus was losing his patience, Maria can see it. “Maria, this is the last time that I will ask you where the fuck is the SD Card—”
With one loud bang on the door, it fell open, and Euclid barged in with two guns in his hands. He aimed them at Demi and Marcus, who were as shocked as her to see Euclid.
“Cop!” Euclid shouted. “Raise your hands and fall on your knees—” he stopped when he looked at the man in front of her. “Marcus?”
