Chapter 89
THE SUNLIGHT coming from her window cast on Tamara’s face. But she couldn’t open her eyes easily. It was as if her eyelids were heavy and she can’t lift them up. Tamara sighed. Her eyes got swollen because of crying all night.
“I wish all of it was just a dream,” she said as she remembered the car that drove fast away from her apartment last night. “Thaddeus left me. And, it’s because I shunned him away…” Tears fell from her eyes. “Now, I don’t know if I could still show my face to the hospital. But, I need that job badly…”
She raised from her bed and fixed it lazily. Tamara has to continue living even without Thaddeus. She has to work and made herself busy to forget about him. But how will she do that if every corner of this house reminded her of him? Wherever she looked, she can see him smiling at her like a cat. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
“Tamara, you can do it,” she said and went out of her room. “The first thing that I have to do is to throw all the things that remind me of him.”
She took the things that Thaddeus bought and put them all inside the garbage bag. She was just on the kitchen utensils when she heard noises coming from the outside. Tamara went to her window and peeked behind the blinds. She knotted her forehead when she saw a black sedan parked in front of her house.
“Who’s that?” she said and opened her door to bring the garbage plastic outside. She stepped outside and stumbled on something on the floor. “Oh, my gosh, Thaddeus?”
Thaddeus shifted on his seat and opened his eyes. When their gaze met, he quickly stood and hugged her. “Tamara…” he murmured. “Tamara, I’m sorry…”
Men in a black suit got off from the sedan and approached them with haste. They grabbed Thaddeus’s shoulders, pulled him away from her. Tamara doesn’t understand what’s happening. She thought Thaddeus left last night.
“Thaddeus… I thought you have left me…” she said, still shocked and confused.
“I didn’t, Tamara. I stayed here all night,” he tried to break free from men in a suit, but they just held him tightly. “I stayed here and waited for you to open the door again…”
Tamara’s fell open. “Why did you do that? You should have knock on my door!”
“Sir Thaddeus, we have to go now,” one of the men told him and tried to pull him away again. “Sir, your father ordered us to take you with force if you refused to come with us voluntarily.”
“I will go with you. Just let me speak with her for a moment,” Thaddeus said, fighting back his tears as he looked at her. “Tamara, promise me that you’ll wait for me. I will come back for you after I fix this mess…”
Tears stung her eyes, Tamara stepped closer to him, but men blocked her from getting near Thaddeus. “Thaddeus, I’m sorry…”
“Tamara, please…” Thaddeus begged for her. “I’ll be back for you—” The men dragged him away. “Tamara!”
Tamara chased them towards the car. “Thaddeus!” she called before they push him inside the car. When their eyes met, she continued. “I promise, I’ll wait for you…”

“WHERE DO you want to eat?” Mark asked Tamara when she answered his call. “I’ll be there in fifteen minutes—”
“Shen will be with me,” she said, looking at the clipboard of her patients.
“Who’s Shen?” Mark asked. Tamara can hear the noise of the ER from the background.
“Shenaida Shin. She’s my new friend,” she said. “I’ll call you after lunch, okay? `Bye.”
Tamara put back the clipboards on the rack and took out her compact mirror to check if she still looked like a human. She hasn’t had a complete sleep for days now, and she’s bothered that stress and sleeplessness made her skin dry.
“I should ask Shen about her skincare routine—”
“Tamara!” One of her colleagues barged into the nurse’s headquarters and jumped in front of her excitedly. “Come on! You have to see this—”
She pulled back her hand from her. “What is it? I’m off to lunch out.”
“The hospital director’s nephew is coming to visit us now!” she said and pulled her out of the room. “It’s a once in a lifetime experience. We have to witness it, and I heard that he’s so handsome!”
Tamara frowned. She doesn’t have time for these nonsense things. But since she’s been working here for months and owed the hospital director to accept her, she’ll do this lousy stuff of cheering for his popular nephew.
“Look, there he is!” her colleague shook her shoulders and squealed. “He’s so gorgeous.”
Tamara looked at the man who was now approaching them. He was surrounded by hospital staff and heads that made him looked like a VIP. Tamara shook her head. Why does his entrance have to be this dramatic?
The man stopped in front of her and smiled. “Are you out for lunch?”
The noise from the people around them suddenly stopped. Her colleague looked at her questioningly. “D-Do you know each other?”
Tamara ignored her. She just looked at the man in front of her. “I thought you won’t make it on time, Thaddeus,” she said and shook her head. “And why do you have to announce your arrival like this?”
Thaddeus laughed. He put his arms around her and urged her to continue walking. “I didn’t. But my dad found out that I’ll go here straight from the airport, so he made this silly thing to get even on me.”
Tamara looked at him in a knotted forehead. “And, now we’re both on the front cover,” she said and hooked her arms on his waist. “How’s your mother? Is she going to visit us here?”
“Maybe soon,” he said and smiled. “Thank you for waiting for me, Tamara.”
“We didn’t lose our communication, though,” she said as tears shone in her eyes. “And, three months weren’t that long and lonely because you never failed to call me every day.” She wiped her tears. She missed this man so much. “I’m thankful that your parents accepted us. I thought they’re like the parents I watched in Kdramas.”
Thaddeus chuckled. “Is it because of the fixed marriage?” he laughed. “My parents just wanted to have a grandchild from me.”
Tamara stopped on her feet. “W-what did you say?”
Thaddeus opened the car door for her. “Get in. I’m starving.”
“Tell me that you’re just kidding, Thaddeus,” Tamara said as soon as he got inside the car. “Thaddeus—”
Thaddeus leaned closer to capture her lips. He kissed her deeply and passionately until they both out of breath. When he pulled back, he kissed her forehead. “After we get married. I love you, Tamara. And I want you to be my queen.”
